What I didn’t know is that I’ve been posting some of his .gif animations for years and never connected the two. He was doing stuff for a website called B3TA, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was the author of the Hover Ducky series.

Top Afghans Tied to ’90s Carnage, Researchers Say

    (…)
The powerful men accused of responsibility for these deaths and tens of thousands of others — some said to be directly at their orders, others carried out by men in their chain of command — are named in the pages of a monumental 800-page report on human rights abuses in Afghanistan from the Soviet era in the ’80s to the fall of the Taliban in 2001, according to researchers and officials who helped compile the study over the past six years.

The list of names is a sort of who’s who of power players in Afghanistan: former and current warlords or officials, some now in very prominent positions in the national government, as well as in insurgent factions fighting it. Many of the named men were principals in the civil war era after the Soviet Union withdrew, and they are also frequently mentioned when talk here turns to fears of violence after the end of the NATO combat mission in 2014. Already, there is growing concern about a scramble for power and resources along ethnic and tribal lines.

But the report seeking to hold them accountable is unlikely to be released anytime soon, the researchers say, accusing senior Afghan officials of effectively suppressing the work and those responsible for it. For their part, human rights activists say the country is doomed to repeat its violent past if abuses are not brought to light and prosecuted

    DAILY | After Aurora

    (a media review)

    My question would be: Europe has much more restricting gun laws but has as many mass/spree/school killings as the U.S.A.(Erfurt -- 2002/19; Eching/Freising -- 2002/3; Emsdetten – 2006/1; Tuusula – 2007/8; Kauhajoki – 2008/10; Cumbria -- 2010/12; Winnenden -- 2009/15; Oslo/Utoya -- 2011/77; Lörrach -- 2011/4; Toulouse -- 2012/7 -- to name only a few) How can this be explained ?

Good morning. I caught some of the Vigil from Aurora CO
    yesterday.
Obama came as a “Husband & father” He also said that he
“Just wants to go to the hospital & hug the victims.”
Mayor Hogan introduced the entire City council. Then he
recited names of the victims & instructed the crowd to
respond “We will remember’ If they did not answer loudly
    enough he repeated the name.
Then came Governor Higenlooper. He cogratulated the
mayor for doing so well “On as little rest as I have had”
He then shared that “President Obama should have left an
hour and a half ago. His aides can’t get him to leave the
    people”
    It’s all about them

Gun control isn’t about stopping mass murder, or about reducing crime. It is about reducing your population to dependant, defenseless subjects. That is and always has been its real purpose.
