And to add insult to injury, the tree removal guy just left and the quote to get it taken down and removed is $900.

the tombstone shots and the keg roll started from the priest’s final resting place.

we were respectful and we said prayers before. the old dead priests were part of the fun. we genuflected and crossed ourselves 3 times on the way up the hill.

This tree is huge. I’ll send you a pic of just the branch that came down. It is almost three stories tall. Hubby is standing under it for perspective. Houses are also a concern (with regards to neighborhood tree falling skills). LOL.

We just can’t have this tree fall on its own. We had one large pine fall and hit one neighbors house, one week later the oak branch came down and damaged the other neighbors storage shed and one week after that my MIL totalled one of our vehicles and it was a he said/she said (no tickets) but did damage to a 3rd party vehicle. (MIL fine)

Three hits on our insurance in less than a month.

Nope. I am more upset about loosing the tree than I am the money (I think). It was a beautiful, magestic creature. It was one of the main things we fell in love with when we purchased this house. I blame the drought mainly. We were warned -- when a tree is dying, you may not know it for a year or two, but when the go, they go fast. That has been the case with all around here. That and the severe storms.

So sorry to hear that. I have a (what I think is ) a cherry blossom tree out in the corner of the yard. When it blooms it is simply gorgeous. The petals fall off and it looks like snow. It is all twisted around itself. Wonderful tree. One branch is literally holding up another branch. lol I wont take it down though. There is also a hole in it that is always filled with sandy tree dust. I just love this tree.

Yes, we had a small tornado come through the neighborhood that brought our pine tree down along with 10+ others in our neck of the neighborhood. We think that storm may have damaged/weakened the oak branch, but had another sever storm come though when it came down, so who knows.

Hubby just confirmed with the tree guy, it is coming down tomorrow. This guy is making a killing in this neighborhood, but he is good. Going to go take a couple of pre mordum pics while the light is still good. Already forwarned hubby i will probably cry tomorrow. He said he just might also.

best freakin post i have seen in oh…the last hour or so

Guns and Chick-Fil-A a matter of trust

I have heard a lot of people on the left self righteously complain that conservatives are unwilling to agree to “common sense gun control” that we are unreasonable fanatics who would oppose restrictions on the ownership of Sherman Tanks.

Most of all; we are totally wrong to believe that the left is after our guns just because of the proposed assault weapon ban.

Why would we have such a belief, how can the folks on the right even think we on the left are after their guns, all their guns?

    The answer: Chick-Fil-A

Twenty years ago there was nobody NOBODY nationally who was pushing the idea of gay marriage. If Bill Clinton had come out for Gay Marriage in 1992 he would have lost 49 states.

We have reached the point from the legality of Gay Marriage in Massachusetts, to the Mayor of the largest city in the Commonwealth publicly declaring in effect: If your business dare oppose the liberal politically correct position , your enterprise doesn’t belong in our enlightened city.

This has happened in the space of a decade, after being assured that “Gay Marriage” would have no effect on anyone else.

So when you on the left tell us, assure us, and promise us that if we on the right agree to just a little bit of Gun Control, you have our word that we have no designs on your personal firearms or anything else, you’ll pardon us for declaring:

    You Lie!

If we are stupid enough to believe you on gun control then we deserve to lose the rights we are fighting to defend.

On the guns side, Sturm-Ruger is public company. I bought in on Monday and my shares are up almost 10% in one week on gun control worries. One can make a consistent living on proggie haters.

Sounds like the Olympics went lefty …

Olympic opening ceremony grapples with weighty issues

    (AFP) – 4 hours ago

LONDON — A celebration of free healthcare, the trade union struggle, the battle for women’s rights and a fleeting lesbian kiss: the Olympics opening ceremony Friday did not shy away from weighty social issues.

Unsurprisingly, the show devised by Oscar-winning British director Danny Boyle drew accusations from the British political right that it had strayed into “leftie” issues.

Aidan Burley, a lawmaker from Prime Minister David Cameron’s ruling Conservative party, tweeted: “The most leftie opening ceremony I have ever seen — more than Beijing, the capital of a communist state! Welfare tribute next?”

He followed that with: “Thank God the athletes have arrived! Now we can move on from leftie multi-cultural crap.”

Several people tweeted their support for his comments.

Dang, I missed lobo? Bummer. He is definitely in count-down mode. Moi aussie, as my flight lifts off at 2:30 AM Tuesday morning. I get 18 days back in civilization before coffee break’s over and it’s back on my head. I am out of practice at this Turd World routine, and it seems it’s harder to get it back as you get older. But I’m working on it.

Internet wasn’t connected when I woke the laptop up this morning, but a reboot found that the hotel back-up network was still connected, so I’m not completely screwed -- yet.

Good news that that stupid UN small arms treaty has stalled. Definitely have to do an ammo order in the next week. Also have to get to the range during this upcoming break. I don’t get to the range anywhere near often enough these days.

Caught a few minutes of the very much anti-British British opening ceremonies for the Olympics yesterday -- all the dignity of stomping rats at the town dump. I do not understand why these horrible sorts of things have become de riguer -- the annual Superbowl fiasco is the same damned thing.

Didn’t happen to catch Atkinson’s bit, but did see that he was in it. I never think of him as Mr. Bean -- I think of him as The Black Adder. Which, unlike that Mr. Bean show, was absolutely brilliant (as the Brits would say.)

    @ RIX:

Why the IOC will never memorialize the ’72 Munich massacre

Recently, new information about the Munich Massacre at the 1972 Olympic Games was released by German police as a result of pressure from German investigative reporters. It was reported that the “Black September” terrorists were helped by a Nazi group in Germany to get fake IDs, weapons and access to the Olympic Village.

This was not too shocking, as the head of the IOC in 1972 was Avery Brundage, a Nazi sympathizer and anti-Semite. His protege, Juan Samaranch, eventually served the second longest IOC term as president, but his support of Nazis and the Spanish dictator Francisco Franco was kept a dirty secret. Most IOC members knew the truth but stayed silent because he organized a regal lifestyle for them — with money diverted from sport.

Another interesting fact is that Abu Iyad, one of the co-founders of the PLO, has said publicly that the reason “Black September” chose the 1972 Olympics as the stage for their hostage plot was because the PLO’s request to the IOC for inclusion of the Palestinian delegation at the Olympic Games was completely ignored. This snub from the IOC came at a time when tension was at a boiling point in the Middle East. Yet, having incited the PLO, the IOC denied the Israeli government’s request for security for the athletes.

In 1996, I, along with other Munich orphans and three of the widows, were invited for the first time to the Olympic Games in Atlanta. Before the Opening Ceremony, we met with Alex Gilady. Gilady has been a member of the IOC’s Radio and Television Commission since 1984 and has been the senior vice president of NBC Sports since 1996.

I have known Mr. Gilady since I was a kid; in fact, I grew up with his daughter. He had been supportive in the past regarding our plea for a moment of silence during the Opening Ceremonies, so we arrived with high hopes. Gilady informed us that a moment of silence was not possible because if the IOC had a moment of silence for the Israeli athletes, they would also have to do the same for the Palestinians who died at the Olympics in 1972.

My mother said, “But no Palestinian athletes died.”

Gilady responded, “Well, there were Palestinians who died at the 1972 Olympics.”

I heard one of the widows say to Gilady, “Are you equating the murder of my husband to the terrorists that killed him?”

    Silence.

Then Ilana Romano burst out with a cry that has haunted me to this day. She screamed at Gilady, “How DARE you! You KNOW what they did to my husband! They let him lay there for hours, dying slowly, and then finished him off by castrating him and shoving it in his mouth, ALEX!”

    @ lobo91:
Says it all ,doesn’t it? The IOC is a bloated, corrupt
    orgnization.
With the exception of the U.S Hockey team at Lake Placid,
I have never been crazy about the Olympics.

OK, well this afternoon I am going to a birthday party for a friend who is battling cancer. Were going to play a little guitar, and celebrate that he has survived a year and looks like he may survive cancer altogether. If the admins want to post this as a thread here around non or so, please feel free.

    Happy Birthday Thad.

Oh, and here is a very interesting article. By the grace of god, may this please do to the gun regulation industry what MP3′s did to the music industry.

    @ mawskrat:

Waste of money… A small nuke is ideal for destroying underground facilities. Or at least making them useless. Blow the entrances/exits shut. If they start to dig out the smoking, radioactive craters, why just rinse and repeat. Can be done with a cruise missile, so no risk to air crews.

If nobody can get into or out of the bunker, who gives a crap what’s in it or if it is destroyed?
