Political Cartoons by Glenn McCoy

I read two stories over the weekend that led me to my point today. Since the stories are completely unrelated, it’s going to be a long walk, so please bear with me. I often wonder when arguing with my liberal friends, when they’re going to start living in the little part of our Universe which I like to call reality. On the topic of media bias, it is not at all difficult to find examples which illustrate my point. Sarah Palin, the number two person on the GOP ticket in 2008 had he personal email account hacked, her professional email account hacked, emails from both sources were mass dumped for public perusal. Scores of reporters were dispatched to Wasilla Alaska to find anyone who knew Governor Palin while simultaneously carrying an axe to grind against her.

Compare that treatment to the coverage given to Barack Obama. Not a single photograph was published the did not place a halo of light around his head, no matter what the angle, background, or actual lighting existed at the time of the photo. Not a single person from his past was interviewed, nor even asked the most innocuous of questions. He started his career at the home of Bernadine Dohrn and William Ayers, not a single question. He listed Jeremiah Wright as his source for spiritual guidance and one of his top three advisers, and not one question was asked as to what the tenets of Black Liberation Theology are. Barack Obama was captured in a video praising Derrick Bell, a man who taught his students at Harvard’s Law School that Jews were only involved in the Civil Rights movement of the 60′s in order to gain the trust of Blacks, so that they could enslave them in the future and return to the days prior to emancipation. His theories proved so radical, that even Harvard had had enough of Derrick Bell, and convinced this tenured law professor to leave and never return. He went to Hollywood and made a movie in which the Jews sold Blacks to space aliens in order to secure a cushy spot for themselves in the new space alien society once the impending invasion happened. (the movie is entitled, “Space Traders.) Bell was also listed as one of Obama’s top influences, along with Frank Marshall Davis. The man became President of the United States, and not a single one of his lifetime influences was mentioned, looked up, or asked a single question by any reporters anywhere. He applied for his job as our chief executive without so much as a resume, while Sarah Palin was given the media version of a lower GI examination, and barely an eyebrow was raised. Through all of this, the liberals of this country profess that they believe the media to be objective.

In 2008, Barack Obama announced that his policies would necessarily bankrupt the coal industry. Well, guess what is indeed happening. During a gathering of friends last weekend, and with the almost 50/50 split that always ensues with such gatherings between conservatives and liberals, the topic of politics was deftly avoided for a time. Then, like clockwork, somebody complained about their increasing electric bills and the rising price of gasoline. I took the bait. Since it of course was the liberal contingent who began complaining first, I pointed out that they voted for this, every bit of it. I can even remember specific conversations when they proudly proclaimed their eagerness to pay double or triple for gas in order to save the planet from Al Gore’s hoax ailment, even if it were probably all baloney.

So what is the end result of the government attempting to tweak aggregate behavior through leveling extra costs on those behaviors not approved of by the state. An economy’s resources after all are finite, and the free markets are the best way to insure their most efficient usage. Any intervention by the government into the market place throws that efficiency out of whack, and the results are not only subsidy for goods and services not wanted, and therefore waste, but also a proclivity of the people to start finding their own pathways outside of the law to obtain those very same goods and services not approved of.

How many people know that their electric bills are currently skyrocketing because of one of the very few campaign promises actually kept by Barack Obama? How many people realize that the increased gang activity in Chicago and their newest form of profitable activity is a direct result of the ill fated war on tobacco which has been conducted by the left since the 1970′s? How many Americans would have voted for a candidate who promised to drastically increase their price paid for energy to the point where America would face rolling black outs and prohibitive costs for just making it to work? Even today, as we are indeed experiencing the disastrous results that were the only possibility of Obama’s campaign promises being made good, the disconnect between cause and effect somehow remains completely in tact.

The reason for this of course is the complete complicity of the main stream media in the attempt to keep Barack Obama and his beliefs totally isolated from the American voting public. Here is the problem our President has now. This is much harder to do for a President than it is for a candidate. While not a single dot is being connected still, and I won’t be holding my breath waiting for it to happen, people still possess adult memories for the most part, and can remember being able to afford gasoline sufficient to get themselves to work, reliable air conditioning sufficient to avoid every day of summer being a miserable reminder of the fact that it gets hot from May through September, and a time when one in seven Americans did not need for the government to purchase their groceries for them. These things are enough to make people mad at the incumbent. They will not need the extra boost of realizing that it was indeed a campaign promise in order to vote for new leadership.

The ultimate price for this deception will be paid by the main stream media itself. Newsweek this week asks on their cover whether Mitt Romney, the man whom they had previously depicted as a ghoulish bully in a suit, is instead a wimp. While this is certainly not objectivity, or even remotely news worthy, conservatives can take solace in the fact that Newsweek was recently sold for $1, and this may be their very last issue ever printed. The viewership on MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CNBC, CNN, CBS, combined equals the viewership of Fox. So while the left has fun with its little japes about Faux News, also realize that people vote most honestly with their feet. They choose to consume the Fox product, because in reality an overwhelming number of Americans realize that if they watch the other networks, they are being fed a load of crap.

The compliant media is the single biggest advantage Obama has. Were he a Republican any number of his gaffs (Polish Death Camps, anyone? )was would have been proof of his imbecility, but Obama has a permanent pass from the media. It is up to the Romney campaign to make the case against Obama. This will cost an unprecedented amount of money. Fortunately, Romney is raising money faster than Obama is. We should be able to outspend Obama on ads in the critical run-up to the election.

  2. 3 | July 31, 2012 9:20 am

    @ Iron Fist:

If he was a normal Democrat his gaffes and policy failures would have been the end of him. But as I keep warning people, we are dealing with a symbol. Hence he’s impervious to what normally would destroy another politician.

Oh, no, we are taking Obama thoroughly in context. The context is that he is an Islamophillic, anti-Semitic, anti-American socialist. We understand his context full well.

Fake Indian Elizabeth Warren To Open DNC For Bill Clinton…?!??!?!?!?!?!!!

  5. 6 | July 31, 2012 9:38 am

    @ huckfunn:

Personally, I love the out of context meme. When taken in its full context, which is readily available by the way, this statement gets so much worse. There is a very good reason why CNN has lost 90% of her audience over the last decade, and this would be a part of that. People are beginning to learn that CNN is simply a giant propaganda machine. We called it the Communist News Network even before Bill Clinton won in 1992.

Oops. I forgot the sarc tags. More about CNN:
    WHY CNN IS A FAILURE

CNN represents the passive-aggressive Left. MSNBC is unrestrained id, but CNN can never fully surrender to its liberal impulses. It tries to maintain a fig leaf of neutrality. But CNN can’t get through the day without betraying what it really thinks, often in underhanded ways. Thus, when CNN did a story on Chick-fil-A today, what did it focus on? The merits of the controversy? The fact that more than one Democratic government official has threatened to violate the company’s constitutional rights, because its CEO is opposed to gay marriage? No. In a dog whistle to its liberal audience, CNN focused on the fact that Todd and Sarah Palin, along with thousands of other Americans, tweeted photos of themselves eating at Chick-fil-A:

One of the gun store cases the commie gun grabing Democrats have going is under way and a local Tea Party group in New Mexico is following the case close.

    http://www.lunatpp.org/

The Reese family and their gun store.

Of some note is the sworn words of S/A Eddie Pacheco,,,
Upon questions of a the gun smuggler and how he crossed to border.
“Pacheco”, “When pedestrians come across the border they don’t always swipe the (passport or driver’s lecense or other ID) they are just waved through.”

    Border Security uh?

The commie Democrats aim to kill U.S…!

They’re the journalistic heirs of Walter Duranty and, somehow, they’ve convinced themselves they’re noble. The famous question “have you no shame?” has been turned upon them and the answer is an unapologetic “No”.

Obama as the “great orator” is as baseless a myth as I’ve ever seen…right behind the one that insists he’s a “great intellect”.

I’ve noticed how Liberalism’s “great black hopes” are always portrayed as “great intellects”. JFK was never portrayed as a “great intellect”, nor was FDR, nor Truman, nor LBJ nor was any of the myriad of Liberal WHITE heroes.

Hannity mentioned all the positive things Bubba has been saying about Romney and Asked Dick why Obi would call Bubba for backup. Dick said…this sounds a little weird….that “Clinton will cast his ballot for Romney but talk out of Obi’s mouth. Some positive news, eh no?

The viewership on MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CNBC, CNN, CBS, combined equals the viewership of Fox.

    Actually, no.

FNC’s audience is about equal to all the other cable news channels combined, but not the broadcast networks’ evening news shows. They each get between 6 and 7 million viewers a night, while the top-rated show on FNC gets around 1.4 million.
