Seriously.

Oh well, feel free to post your Romney/Ryan signs on The Overnight Open Thread!

Yeah, if I showed up at a Captain Teleprompter event with a sign, I’d end up beaten. Then shipped off to re-education camp until I’d learned to properly bow down.

    Dang. We killed the thread!

Time to hit the hay. The joys of another week at the fun factory await.

Before Gunfire, Hints of ‘Bad News’

The text message, sent to another graduate student in early July, was cryptic and worrisome. Had she heard of “dysphoric mania,” James Eagan Holmes wanted to know?

The psychiatric condition, a form of bipolar disorder, combines the frenetic energy of mania with the agitation, dark thoughts and in some cases paranoid delusions of major depression.

She messaged back, asking him if dysphoric mania could be managed with treatment. Mr. Holmes replied: “It was,” but added that she should stay away from him “because I am bad news.”

It was the last she heard from him.

About two weeks later, minutes into a special midnight screening of “The Dark Knight Rises” on July 20, Mr. Holmes, encased in armor, his hair tinted orange, a gas mask obscuring his face, stepped through the emergency exit of a sold-out movie theater here and opened fire. By the time it was over, there were 12 dead and 58 wounded.

Has Russia sold out Iran for a stake in Israeli gas?

    (…)

But there is now a new kid on the block that could pose a very clear and present threat to Russia’s vital European market: Israel along with Cyprus and their upcoming potential status as gas exporting energy superpowers. And it is there that we can see a fascinating new play in the Israel-Iran nuclear saga.

Development of the eastern Mediterranean’s newfound natural gas wealth, could well end up reaching the European market. In recent days, an Israeli news report quotes a senior Israeli gas executive as telling them: “The Russians have been poking around here for a while. Everyone knows about the Russian interest in controlling the European energy market. Do they want to buy from us, or delay our efforts? I don’t know. But they are here.” The same report also cites the Israeli energy website, Tashtiot, as claiming that during Vladimir Putin’s recent visit to Israel, he and Prime Minister Netanyahu agreed a deal to form a junior company to Gazprom that would help develop Israel’s Leviathan gas field in the eastern Mediterranean. In the same week that Putin visited Jerusalem, the Eurasia Monitor further reported that “the government agency that oversees Russia’s arms exports and imports … confirmed that Iran is suing Russia for damages to the tune of some $4 billion in the Court of Arbitration in Geneva for cancelling … a contract to sell five divisions of the S-300 long-range anti-aircraft missile system worth an estimated $800 million to $1 billion.”

It seems that Vladimir Putin and Russia are playing a long game of their own. While many observers assume that Russia, having helped construct Iran’s nuclear plant at Bushehr as part of a long-standing relationship with Tehran, would be likely to become embroiled directly in support of their Middle East allies in an Israel-Iran conflict. However, the Kremlin appears to have higher economic and political priorities. Chief among them: ensuring its vast energy resources help it to remain a global superpower.

    The day the music died…
Taliban behead 17 caught dancing to music at party
The sooner we’re out of that hellhole, the better.

Ballentyne is a ritzy area of Charlotte. They want the DNC to see it because it makes the city look good but they don’t want the DNC to see how much support actually Romney has.

    Ignorance is bliss.

I suppose Karzai will complain vociferously to the Taliban top turds about these civilian deaths. ///

They are animals, and Obama is going to turn Afghanistan over to them. I’m not sure that the Afghan people don’t deserve it, but we need to vigorously bomb any terrorist training camps that the Taliban allow back into the country. With low yield atomic weapons.

I have a Fraternity Brother who lives near there. She and her husband both support Romney-Ryan and, according to her, there’s a schload of signs which affirm this.
I hope they resist the call to remove them; then the DNC will send its OWS Effeminates there to wreak havoc. Get your video cameras out, Good People of Charlotte!

    @ Macker:

I have seen the boatload of signs in Ballentyne AND the opposing signs on the west side of Charlotte (detroit lite). The DNC will probably be routed a waaaays away from the west side. Uptown is a bunch of hipsters. They’ll fit right in there.

We should’ve nuked them -- either that, or invited the Chinese to come in and clean the place out once and for all.
