Posted this the other night. The cameo appearance was what sealed the deal on this video for me.

Just curious if any of the admins have seen the email I sent them last night. Got quite the important music video for everyone to see.

Nope no Jackie Chan. Kurt Russell directed by the great John Carpenter. A film many years ahead of it’s time.

If that film had been released 10 years later it wouldn’t have just been a cult hit. It would have been huge.

    Nope missed that one.

They’ve also talked about a comic book sequel. Since they did a better followup to Escape From New York in comics than they did in the movies, I had a lot of hope for it. Never did come out though.

I think my love of the film comes out of the fact it’s done in a 30′s style. (One write up says it was partially inspired by Howard Hawks films. Especially with the quick delivery by the characters.)

I guess I’m kind of old fashioned since two of my other favorites, Brain Donors and Oscar, are both homages to old Hollywoood. (Brain Donors is essentially a Marx Brothers film and Oscar is just one of those hilariously absurd comedies that seemed to come out in the 30′s and 40′s. Also I am one of two people in the world that actually like The New Adventures of Laurel and Hardy, Where’s my Mummy with Bronson Pinchot.)

I scour the bargain bins at Wally World, Best Buy and Blockbuster whenever I get a chance. Paid $8 for the Blu-ray Big Trouble In Little China, for example. Of the 70+ John Wayne movies, I think the only one I payed full price on was The Big Trail, remastered 70mm and 35mm versions. It’s a great movie in the original widescreen, according to the information with the DVD, very few people saw the movie in the 70mm widescreen format when it was released. Most theaters didn’t have the necessary equipment to project it, so they showed the 35mm version instead.

Nice. I just got Get Smart Season 1 for 5 bucks at the pawn shop. Unfortunately my brother needed gas to help me get my kids back and forth to school this week so I wound up having to pawn it at another shop.

I hope when I get it out I can find the rest of the seasons for the same cheap price. (Hell, I’ll even take the substandard 90′s series if I can get it. Hate Andy Dick but at least it still has Don Adams and Barbara Feldon.) Nude Bomb is pretty expensive to get too, but I got Get Smart Again for a buck at the dollar store about 5 years ago.

These kinds of threads aren’t much use when all the video clips are not viewable.

Don’t see much new in the news this morning, and don’t have anything novel for a gun thread idea. There was a pretty good size quake (7.7) in the Pacific off the Canadian coast resulting in tsunami alerts for HI amongst other places, but I haven’t seen any updates on that yet. Not much new regarding Sandy -- track still rather vague since it’s still move NE and hasn’t turned cack towards the coast yet.

The truth of the matter is, there are a number of countries I didn’t visit,” Obama said. “I visited Israel just a couple of months before I was president.”

“Given how important I think the situation in the Middle East is and our partnership with Israel, which is stronger than it’s ever been, when I go to Israel, I want to make sure that we are actually moving something forward,” the president continued.

While Obama did not elaborate on what he meant by “moving something forward,” it is likely that he was referring to peace negotiations, which have been deadlocked during his presidency.

The Romney campaign fired back with a statement calling Obama’s Middle East foreign policy a “failure.”

“After promising to make peace a top priority, the president sought to place ‘daylight’ between the United States and Israel, and failed to engage in the peace process,” said Romney spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg. “His excuse for not visiting Israel is that ‘there are a number of countries’ he ‘didn’t visit.’ But President Obama fails to recognize that Israel isn’t just any other country — it is our closest ally in the Middle East. As President, Mitt Romney’s first overseas trip will be to Jerusalem, and under a Romney Administration, the world will never question America’s solidarity with Israel.”
