The Sunday Pre-Election Football Thread

by Carolina Girl ( 457 Comments › )

Considering all that’s at stake this week, your humble correspondent almost forgot to report on the games dominating the airwaves today and tomorrow – a little enjoyable respite from the political footballs being lobbed this week. The biggest contest of course, comes Tuesday, and is an all–day affair. And it’s not spectator sport either – everyone needs to participate in this game! (Like anyone here needs to be reminded to vote).

We’re still keeping those that endured Superstorm Sandy in our prayers and thoughts.  And for Speranza – wherever you are – hurry home  because it isn’t the same around here without you.

In any event, here are the matchups for this week.

Broncos @ Bengals
Ravens @ Browns
Cardinals @ Packers
Bills @ Texans
Dolphins @ Colts
Lions @ Jaqquars
Bears @ Titans
Panthers @ Redskins  (whose Heisman QB reigns Supreme?)
Bucanneers @ Raiders (so much pirate – so little Johnny Depp)
Vikings @ Seahawks (If only I could get past my hatred for Pete Carroll,….)
Steelers @ Giants
Cowboys @ Falcons

Monday Night Game

Eagles @ Saints  (Cajun dog lovers no doubt will give the Dog Killer a warm welcome)

Byes this week: Patriots, Jets, Rams, 49ers

Tuesday’s Matchups

Obama v. Romney  (thinking shut out people!)

Play nice!

    A. no relief efforts need to be diverted
    B. it’s OK to show a working football stadium on TV but not destroyed NYC neighborhood waiting till Monday for Omama’s FEMA to deliver drinking water.

Megyn Kelly has some Dem mouthpiece on who just said that the Republicans in Congress are “not just ideologues, they’re theologues,” and that you “can’t compromise with people over their religion.”

Funny how they can’t grasp that concept when it comes to those who are actually motivated by their religions to kill us…

    Racists and Conservatives are Stupid

Here’s todays horseshit fake article. They claim this is based on actual science. I’m sure there was no bias on the part of the investigators.////

Strange, most conservatives I know have degrees and/or highly advanced technical skills.

I have a degree and at least according to my early educational career and incredibly high IQ. (Done my best to get past that disability though.)

    The end of an era:

    USS Enterprise completes final voyage

The world’s first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier is shutting down its reactors as its storied career comes to a close.

The USS Enterprise finished its 25th and final deployment on Sunday when it returned to its home port in Norfolk, Va.

After more than 50 years of service that spanned the globe, the ship will never move on its own power again. The ship’s fuel will be removed in Virginia, and then it will eventually be towed to Washington state to be scrapped.

The Enterprise is the Navy’s second-oldest ship, after the USS Constitution. It has participated in every major conflict since the Cuban Missile Crisis, and its airplanes targeted insurgents in Afghanistan during its last deployment.

Thousands of veterans are expected to attend its deactivation ceremony on Dec. 1.

Everyone in my hipster neighborhood is strolling around like nothing even happened. In fact, I was out with my dogs looking for political stuff to photograph and there is literally nothing. You’d also never know there was a huge election coming in 48 hours. No soaring Obama murals and street art now. No Obama this, no Obama that. A big fat zero.

The president was there to meet the coffins??? Really? Sounds like he had to be convinced to be there..because the President surely wasn’t there while they were watching in real time for 7 hours the seige that was going on and people on the ground thinking there would be help coming…but were told to stand down 3 times. ‘Collectively’ this administration makes Marie Antoinette look like Mother Teresa. (I’ve read that Marie Antoinette never said “Let them eat cake.”) The globalists like the Clintons and their ilk are in a special Club. The “people” are NOT in the Club. We don’t count. I keep telling people that the government will abandon them exactly when they need it. This storm is an example and a cautionary tale.

Benghazi is a huge scandal. 1000 times worse than Abu Ghraib. We will probably only see justices done if we have a Romney Administration.

In this process we need to seriously bitch slap the media and individual reporters around. They need to be jarred to their bones.

  62. darkwords
    64 | November 4, 2012 4:53 pm

We should also note that the FBI and the National Counter-terrorism Center (NCTC) identified terrorist links to Benghazi just two days after the attack. That was in sharp contrast to a briefing from CIA Director Petraeus, who was touting the “video” angle about the same time. Not exactly General Petraeus’s finest hour. If Mitt Romney becomes our next President, we imagine he’ll be looking for a new CIA Director and someone to replace Jim Clapper as DNI.

Obama’s EPA Planning To Crush Coal Industry With Avalanche Of New Regulations After Election…

“If somebody wants to build a coal plant, they can – it’s just that it will bankrupt them” – Barack Obama

President Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency has devoted an unprecedented number of bureaucrats to finalizing new anti-coal regulations that are set to be released at the end of November, according to a source inside the EPA.

More than 50 EPA staff are now crashing to finish greenhouse gas emission standards that would essentially ban all construction of new coal-fired power plants. Never before have so many EPA resources been devoted to a single regulation. The independent and non-partisan Manhattan Institute estimates that the EPA’s greenhouse gas coal regulation will cost the U.S. economy $700 billion.

The rush is a major sign of panic by environmentalists inside the Obama administration. If Obama wins, the EPA would have another four full years to implement their anti-fossil fuel agenda. But if Romney wins, regulators will have a very narrow window to enact a select few costly regulations that would then be very hard for a President Romney to undo.

even if BO wins, it’s still a defeat to a point…if he does, he won’t win big, blacks are getting pissy up in Chicagoland, his base is furious that he doesn’t equal Joe Stalin, half the country scoffs the MSM for protecting him….I suspect if BO wins he will be handcuffed with serious issues that he skated on this time….F/F, Libya, the EPA, EO’s will all haunt him into inaction…he will spend his term ducking and dodging all the haymakers tossed at him…his arrogance is his downfall, his Ocare will be tied up in court, he will have to explain dropping the ball on the stimulus reports, GM’s imminent money problems, and his approach to bailing out CA and Ill for their ruptured, criminal govt’s….a win is a loss for BO…he probably wishes he’d never gotten in this deep

    OK, folks; here’s the clincher:
BAD OMEN FOR OBAMA — REDSKINS LOSE AT HOME…

As Rush would say “don’t doubt me”.

4:57PM EST November 4. 2012 -- Carolina Panthers fans are likely pretty pleased with their team’s ability to win for the first time since Week 2, but one man is likely even happier.

History dictates that the Panthers 21-13 victory over the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field bodes well for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. In the 18 presidential elections that have taken place since the Redskins moved to Washington in 1937, 17 have been predicted by the team’s performance in its final home game prior to the election.

If the Redskins win at home, the incumbent party usually wins the presidential election. If the Redskins lose at home, the challenger usually prevails.

Look at the facts giving this joker a pass on Iran because he made a *promise*? @ Lily:

According to the ultimate authority in the universe (Wikipedia):

Two scholars writing in the journal American Quarterly explored the song as a lament for the embattled working-class identity. Structurally, they noted that “the anthemic chorus contrasted with the verses’ desperate narrative,” a tension which informs an understanding of the song’s overall meaning: the nationalist chorus continuously overwhelms the desperation and sacrifice relayed in the verses. They point out that the imagery of the Vietnam War could be read as metaphor for “the social and economic siege of American blue-collar communities” at large, and that lyrics discussing economic devastation are likely symbolic for the effect of blind nationalism upon the working class. The song as a whole, they felt, laments the destabilization of the economics and politics protecting the “industrial working class” in the 1970s and early 1980s, leaving only “a deafening but hollow national pride.”

Probably true, but my point was that I don’t believe that they would waste a bomb by testing it in the desert. They’ll detonate it someplace where the world will see it.

maybe not… if it fizzed they would be up shit’s creek.

Why? It’ll be smuggled in via a truck or cargo container. If it doesn’t work, they’ll just haul it away. Or if it’s a partial detonation, it’ll still act as a “dirty bomb” and mess up a port someplace.

True, the USGS would report any disturbance as being caused by Fracking.
Probably true, but my point was that I don’t believe that they would waste a bomb by testing it in the desert. They’ll detonate it someplace where the world will see it.

maybe not… if it fizzed they would be up shit’s creek.

Nukes don’t fizzle, they either explode as a conventional explosion or a nuclear explosion. If they explode as a conventional explosion, then they become a dirty bomb showering the area with massive amounts of radioactive material. If they achieve critical mass then you have a nuclear explosion, the size of which depends on the physical geometry of the device and it’s design efficiency.

However, if they set one off, regardless of whether it obtains critical mass, it still leaves a identifiable fingerprint. All refined fissionable materials have a isotopic finger print. That finger print is the percentage of and combination of both the trans, and non transuranic elements created in the refinement process.

All raw uranium ores have their own elemental impurities, every known large scale medium to high concentration ore deposit on earth has a unique signature. If you refine that ore, the refined fissionable material has a recognizable trace elemental signature. Analysis of the radioactive fallout produced by the detonation of a nuclear device will tell you where the ore came from and basically who refined it.

Why this is so, is because it is impossible to refine any metal to 100 percent pure, there are always trace elements you cannot refine out of the original ore. Since every ore has it’s own unique trace element signature it therefore follows that every refined fissionable material also has it’s own unique trace elemental signature.

Since refining is done by those with the knowledge of how and the equipment to do so, and none of that equipment is off the shelf equipment, and the exact process of refining is not a plug and play programmable solution, no two refineries produce identical refined fissionable material.

No nuclear power on earth is going to take the wrap for Iran setting off a nuclear device. The IAEA already has the signature of every verified nuclear capable nations refined material. Within a matter of months at the most the the uranium ore signature would be traced back to the ore’s point of origin. From their it would be traced to whoever purchased it and identified by the refinement process to the nation that refined it.

The exact type of device would be identified by the transuranic elements in the fallout, as their creation is a function of the efficiency of the device and it’s physical geometry. (also produced in the refinement process since the more you refine a fissionable material the more low level non critical fission takes place)

Transuranic materials require geometrically increasing levels of energy to produce. Each transuranic material one number higher on the periodic table takes a greater amount of energy to produce and indicates a greater level of efficiency in the device and a more complex physical geometry to the device.

In other words, if and when Iran detonates a nuclear device there will for all intents and purposes be a ten mile tall neon sign flashing over Tehran saying… HEY… WE DID THAT.

National Dance for Obama Day Draws 12 People

What do you call 12 people dancing in the Square in the heart of mid-town Manhattan while New York City is suffering?

Strindberg would have one name for it, but the dancers are actually the great mob that was expected for National Dance For Obama Day.

Why, the streets are veritably teeming with them.

National Dance for Obama Day advertised its efforts thusly:

The weekend before Election Day, we’re turning up the heat and encouraging people to get out and vote with flash mobs across the country.

In Manhattan, the flash mob of a myriad dancers (read:12) occurred in Herald Square, at the intersection of 34th Street and 6th Avenue.

it really looks bad for the Dems this year

Democrats’ drive to retake House falters

Nancy Pelosi has spent much of the past two years proclaiming that Democrats had a great shot at reclaiming the House and returning the speaker’s gavel to her hands.

But her drive to regain the majority for Democrats is on the verge of a complete collapse. Democrats are expected to pick up five seats at best — a fraction of the 25 they need. On the eve of the election, some party officials are privately worried that Democrats might even lose ground and drop one or two seats to the Republican majority.

Nanny Bloomers: We Don’t Want the National Guard Keeping Order in New York City Because We Don’t Want Those Extra Icky Guns

Mayor Bloomberg has snubbed Borough President Markowitz’s impassioned plea to bring the National Guard to Hurricane Sandy-scarred Brooklyn — arguing that approving the Beep’s request would be a waste of federal manpower and turn the borough into a police state.
“We don’t need it,” Mayor Bloomberg said on Wednesday during a press update on the city’s ongoing Hurricane Sandy cleanup. “The NYPD is the only people we want on the street with guns.”

When night falls in the Rockaways, the hoods come out.
Ever since Sandy strafed the Queens peninsula and tore up the boardwalk, it’s become an often lawless place where cops are even scarcer than electrical power and food. Locals say they are arming themselves with guns, baseball bats, booby traps — even a bow and arrow — to defend against looters.

“We booby-trapped our door and keep a baseball bat beside our bed,” said Danielle Harris, 34, rummaging through donated supplies as children rode scooters along half-block chunk of the boardwalk that had marooned into the middle of Beach 91st St.

“We heard gunshots for three nights in a row,” said Harris, who believed they came from the nearby housing projects.

Carly Ruggieri, 27, who lives in water-damaged house on the block, said she barricades her door with a bed frame. “There have been people in power department uniforms knocking on doors and asking if they’re okay, but at midnight.”

And another local surfer said he has knives, a machete and a bow and arrow on the ready. Gunshots and slow-rolling cars have become a common fixture of the night since Hurricane Sandy.

“I would take a looter with a boa [sic]. If I felt threatened I would definitely use it,” said Keone Singlehurst, 42. “Its like the Wild West. A borderline lawless situation.”
