Politicians and Parties don’t WIN electoral contests, the Lose them. The RNC lost this election for a number of reasons. They include:-
• Romney actually believed that this election was a watershed and that as such was a ‘Base Election. That in simple terms is an election that aims to GET OUT THE VOTE. Mitt Didn’t ! He didn’t connect with the Republican base. And he certainly didn’t reach the Blue Dog Democrats who were suffering under Obama. They were ‘homeless’ but Mitt slammed the door on them. That’s stupid Mitt, Real stupid.
• Ryan wasn’t qualified to be a Vice President (then again neither was Biden). Ryan had no executive experience. NONE! Bad call by Mitt. On top of that the Ryan plan was fodder for the DNC attack ads. Why give them such a juicy target. Were the so called smart set at the DNC drunk (if not on liquor then certainly on hubris). Stupid arrogance will get you every time!
• What happened to back to basics. Small government and low taxes? That got lost in all of the BS and hubris that was floating about. And talking about hubris and believing one’s own propaganda, where did Romney find those arrogant cretins who staffed his campaign? The local job exchange. Does the RNC have a farm where they feed staffers on Group Think and BS? Apparently so!
• Where oh where were the raw red meat campaigners and policy analysts? More to the point… WHERE WERE THE LEADERS? The RNC has masses of Managers but precious few LEADERS prepared for the hard calls. Managers want to stay in their positions first and make calls that reflect that. LEADERS want to WIN and are prepared to go out and risk defeat to get a win. As the SAS motto says. “ WHO DARES WINS” The RNC has a lack of intestinal fortitude and playing it ‘Safe’ has failed yet again How many more times will it take to convince these political cowards?
• Where was Rubio and where was the linking with Hispanics. Country Club RNC / RINO faction is alive and well and destined to be out of power until these folks are dispatched back to their country clubs. Christie and his self serving attempts to get rte-elected by supporting Obama… twice. Once in Tampa and once after Sandy. The guy is a trator and we must never forget it.
But that’s just me!
☺
This guy is a riot!

@ Lily:
Can’t agree Lily. The RNC actually believed its own hubris. Arrogance is strong with them… as it is with the DNC as well.
I go by the old maxim. “Know your enemy and know your self and you will win a hundred battles”
Knowing one self means not believing one’s own BS and knowing one’s own limits. Then acting bravely and without fear.
The timidity shows. It’s always self defeating. The folks can smell the fear and wonder at it and assume that something is being hidden from them. The RNC has to learn to get over this weakness and elect real LEADERS and not more play it safe managers.
