Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt threatens intervention in Gaza

Hamas is the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. Once allied with Iran, they are now firmly in the Egypt-Turkish Axis now. Israel has begun  a military operation in the Gaza strip. Now Egypt’s ruling Muslim Brotherhood is now threatening intervention.

Today, Egypt’s Freedom and Justice Party, the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood – a party formerly headed by current President Mohammed Morsi – announced that Egypt would get involved if Israel continued to kill terrorists in the Gaza Strip. Such Israeli action, said the party, would prompt “swift Arab and international action to stop the massacres.” The party also warned that Israel “must take into account the changes in the Arab region and especially Egypt … [Egypt] will not allow the Palestinians to be subjected to Israeli aggression, as in the past.”

Israel needs to keep an eye open and be prepared for any eventuality. This is not the Egypt of Mubarak, this is a nation that is run by irrational fanatics. The Muslim Brotherhood is very dangerous and should not be taken lightly.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!

    @ Speranza:
Not necessarily. Army for sure does not want the war, but MB can force the issue. And for them it would be win-win. Either they can hit Israel hard, or the war would purge the army, which despite all is something they cannot trust until it has been completely subverted by MB.

It’s not gonna happen. Just listen to the coming calls for a cease fire. It means that Hamas is hurting real bad.

    @ Speranza:

What Egypt can do is allow the flow of AQ fighters to Gaza. That’s what they will do. Until Syria falls to them, they will not seek a direct confrontation. It’s still something Israel needs to keep an eye open.
