3d course: japanese hibachi style dinner made to order by yours truly on three wood fired cooking surfaces on the covered deck out back.

The Obama administration struggled Thursday to deal with the biggest flare-up in Israeli-Palestinian violence in years, unable to call on its old ally, former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, to negotiate an end to rocket attacks on the Jewish state.

Instead, the administration relied on Egypt’s untested Islamist President Mohammed Mursi, who -- like the Gaza Strip’s rulers, Hamas -- is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The challenge illustrates America’s weakened influence since last year’s Arab Spring as popular Islamist political movements have replaced pro-U.S., secular strongmen throughout the region over the last two years. The shift has shaken the foundations of American security strategy in the Middle East and is having its greatest effect in Egypt, the Arab world’s most populous and influential country. There, the United States long partnered with Mubarak and his circle of top generals in mediation efforts between Israel and the Palestinians but now faces far trickier diplomacy with Mursi.

President Barack Obama spoke with Mursi on Wednesday, but they came out of the discussion with diverging messages. A White House statement credited Egypt’s “central role in preserving regional security” while stressing that Obama condemned Hamas’ rocket fire from Gaza into Israel and backed the Jewish state’s right to self-defense. Obama also spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him to avoid civilian casualties while placing responsibility clearly on Hamas to stop its attacks.

But Mursi, speaking Thursday in Cairo, provided a far different account of his conversation with Obama. He said he told Obama that Israel’s offensive must stop and should not be repeated and that the leaders “agreed that Egypt and the United States will work together to prevent any escalation or the continuation of the aggression,” according to a presidential statement. By “aggression,” Mursi meant Israel’s military action. Later he even more explicitly denounced Israel’s “unacceptable aggression” and sent his prime minister to Gaza in a show of support for Hamas’ rulers. http://english.alarabiya.net/articles/2012/11/16/249910.html

If Turkey and Israel went to war it would put Barack Hussein Obama in an interesting position. His heart would side with Turkey, but politically it would be dynamite to side against Israel. But as I noted yesterday, Israel’s support in the United States is largely among white Evangelical Christians, and the Democrat Party has made it plain that they don’t want any of their votes. It’ll be interesting to see how Obama handles that, if it occurs. I think Turkey is just making noise, frankly, as is Egypt. Nobody really cares about the Palestinians, not even the Palestinians. It is just a socially acceptible way for anti-Semites to get their hate on.

    Dear Mr. Netanyahu,

I’m an American citizen and over 60, so I am pretty much useless (though I still play a decent game of tennis), but I want to volunteer for the IDF.
understand you’re having some trouble on your southern border that seems to be creeping north with sirens wailing in Tel Aviv and, unlike a number of my fellow Jews in this country, I would do anything to help.

I am perfectly clear that your cause is just and the time is now. In fact, unlike an even larger number of my fellow citizens — and quite probably our president — I am perfectly clear that your cause is also ours. You are fighting for freedom and democracy against the most reactionary forces in the world today: those that oppose the rights of women and gays, religious freedom, the separation of church and state, freedom of expression and assembly, etc., etc., and wish to impose theocratic totalitarianism.

You would think everybody would be on your side. But no. Forces of “progressivism” like the New York Times are — even today, while Israel has endured 275 and counting missiles aimed at civilians — questioning your judgment.

Obama is projecting weakness. That seems to be his default state. Look at what he did (and didn’t do) when we were attacked in Libya. Not only did he not back up the troops on the ground, he also lied about the reason for the attack. Not only did he lie about it, but he implicitly attacked America’s freedom of speech and religion in his lies. Again projecting weakness. The Mohammedan world picks up on this. Benghazi would have never happened under George Bush, say what you will of the man. If it had, though, we’d have responded forcefully. Americans may not have noticed that two months on Obama has still done nothing, but I assure you that al Qaeda has noticed this and approves.

But I want to say this — I urge my fellow Americans of all races and religions to join with me and stand with Israel now, no matter what our government does.

As one Jewish sage famously asked, “If not now, when?” Or, in the more complete words of Hillel: “If I am not for myself, then who will be for me? And if I am only for myself, then what am I? And if not now, when?”

I am not the first to say that that seems to sum it up. If you really think Western civilization is worth saving, you will do this. Because the stakes are nothing less than that. If you think the Judeo-Christian tradition can survive the fall of Israel, you are, to be blunt, birdbrained.

    All the best,

    Roger L. Simon

Different preconditions. There was no way that Iraq could hit the U.S.A. on their own soil. But if Turkey and Israel fight against, both will be hit on their own ground. If Israel strikes first, Israel is done with the U.S.A.

Nearly every mutual and hedge fund has piled into Apple [AAPL 525.62 -11.26 (-2.1%) ] during its spectacular rise over the past few years. Now, these same funds are scrambling for the exits as the stock goes through an equally spectacular decline.

Apple plunged to a six-month low Thursday as funds rushed to take profits on the stock before it’s too late. Shares are now off 25 percent since late September—shortly after the iPhone 5 launch and a month before the iPad Mini introduction.

Article On Egyptian Website: The Jewish-American Plan For World Domination

In an article posted on the Egyptian news website el-balad.com, journalist Majdi Saqer wrote that the U.S. and the Jews wish to take over the world. He explains that they plan to achieve this by undermining traditional values in various countries and replacing them with Western ones, and also by replacing the traditional sources of authority with the authority of the state. Another component of the plan is to cultivate organizations loyal to the Jews and the U.S. in various countries, which will eventually come to power – and this will be” tantamount to an indirect Jewish-American occupation.”

The following are excerpts from the article:[1]

“After the Catholic Church earned itself [a bad reputation] by oppressing the people, and after Europe became ideologically and spiritually divided, a close partnership formed between the Jews and the British,[2] based on their [mutual] hatred for the [Catholic] Church and their wish to take over the world. Subsequently, the U.S. also joined this partnership.
