After the Muslim Brotherhood President of Egypt Morsi and the Turkish Islamist PM Erdogan started to complain and push for a cease fire, Obama now opposes an Israeli ground offensive into Gaza.
President Barack Obama insisted on Sunday that Israel had a right to defend itself but said it would be “preferable” to avoid an Israeli ground offensive in Gaza.
He said persuading Israel not to attack would depend on the success of efforts by Middle East leaders to bring a halt to Hamas rocket fire into Israel.

Asked whether he believed an Israeli ground invasion would be an escalation of the conflict and if he would support such a move anyway, Obama said he had been in regular contact with Egyptian and Turkish leaders to secure their help in stopping Hamas’s rocket barrages, which he called the “precipitating event” in the conflict.
“My message to all of them was Israel has every right to expect that it does not have missiles fired into its territory,” Obama said in his first public comments on the Gaza crisis.
“If this can be accomplished without a ramping up of military activity in Gaza, that is preferable, that’s not just preferable for the people of Gaza, it’s also preferable for Israelis because if Israeli troops are in Gaza they’re much more at risk of incurring fatalities or being wounded,” he said.
“We’re going to have to see what kind of progress we can make in the next 24, 36, 48 hours,” Obama added.
Obama’s sympathies are with Muslim Brotherhood. he is OK with Israel defending itself up to a point, but if they decide to go for the kill, he will reveal his true colors.

for one, another soldier could be captured
second, and more importantly: Iran is behind this and they simply want to have Israel tied up so they cannot attack their nuke sites and along that line, also this would cause Israel to use plenty of munitions that will take weeks/months to replenish, thereby stalling an attack even longer. Plus, you know fucking well 0bama won’t sell them minutions now that he has more flexibility. So they are rightly screwed. So what do “I” think they should do ? flattening the hamas HQ is a good idea, not many bombs, sends a nice message. just level a significant building every day is all. and if a rocket is launched from Gaza, level the block it came from. but save up for Iran. but Iran is just going to have Hezbollah, Hamas, MuzzBros in Egypt, and AlQeda in Syria and Iraq just attack in a joint effort eventually. soon as they think Israel is down to a very few bombs.

You can’t win a war if you worry about one soldier getting captured. Already lost. Solider is captured you assault til free or withdraw and lick wounds.
Give Gaza to Egypt. There is no reason to fight over it or have rocket launchers there. Israel should just make the offer. The peace then is with the Egyptians and not with proxy terrorists.
I don’t see how a broader war is in anyone’s best interest. Cairo, Teheran, Damascus, and Mecca will all end up as glass in the desert.
ISrael’s enemies are still trying to isolate it through this low intensity asymmetric warfare and propaganda. Israel needs to bring their story to the American school system and the Russian and Chinese school systems.

The Israelis have something like 15,000 terrorists in their prisons. If a soldier is captured, start executing a prisoner an hour until he is released. If Hamas executes the soldier, execute all of their prisoners. Then round up some more prisoners.

As far as I know, Gaza still technically belongs to Egypt anyway, so Israel doesn’t need to “offer” them anything.
They should just unilaterally declare that they’re returning sovereignty to Egypt, and that any further attacks from Gaza will be considered an act of war by Egypt.
