Give Warren Buffet what he wants!

Warren Buffet wants Millionaires to have a 30% minimum tax. He also calls for a 35% minimum tax on people making over 10 Million dollars. Since most of the extreme wealthy vote for Democrats, I say give them what they want!

(Reuters) – Warren Buffett, the legendary investor who changed the debate about U.S. tax reform in 2011 with a call for the rich to pay more, is now calling for minimum tax rates for millionaires.

In a New York Times editorial printed on Monday, Buffett suggested Congress move immediately to implement minimum taxes of 30 percent on incomes of $1 million to $10 million and 35 percent above that.

“A plain and simple rule like that will block the efforts of lobbyists, lawyers and contribution-hungry legislators to keep the ultra rich paying rates well below those incurred by people with income just a tiny fraction of ours,” Buffett wrote.

I will do Warren Buffet, one better. I propose a 30% tax on all profits made by Hollywood studios. Since they want higher taxes, let’s give it to them. Raising taxes on the rich will not make much of a dent on the deficit. But since they vote for Democrats and want higher taxes, Republicans should not die on a hill for them. Let them practice what they preach.

So let me get this straight -- Warren Buffett makes a shitload of money, likes taxes and is therefore a great guy. [He believes 500,000 is a rich person now, by the way] I suggest we tax investment income at 91% (a figure Paul Krugman loves) and see if Buffett likes that -- I’m sure all his investors will be thrilled.

Meanwhile, Mitt Romney isn’t worth 1/10th what Buffett is worth and is evil personified.

It was a brazen and surprisingly long-lived scheme, authorities said, to help aspiring public school teachers cheat on the tests they must pass to prove they are qualified to lead their classrooms.

For 15 years, teachers in three Southern states paid Clarence Mumford Sr. — himself a longtime educator — to send someone else to take the tests in their place, authorities said. Each time, Mumford received a fee of between $1,500 and $3,000 to send one of his test ringers with fake identification to the Praxis exam. In return, his customers got a passing grade and began their careers as cheaters, according to federal prosecutors in Memphis.

Authorities say the scheme affected hundreds — if not thousands — of public school students who ended up being taught by unqualified instructors.

Mumford faces more than 60 fraud and conspiracy charges that claim he created fake driver’s licenses with the information of a teacher or an aspiring teacher and attached the photograph of a test-taker. Prospective teachers are accused of giving Mumford their Social Security numbers for him to make the fake identities.

The hired-test takers went to testing centers, showed the proctor the fake license, and passed the certification exam, prosecutors say. Then, the aspiring teacher used the test score to secure a job with a public school district, the indictment alleges. Fourteen people have been charged with mail and Social Security fraud, and four people have pleaded guilty to charges associated with the scheme.

Unbelievable isn’t it how they protrayed Romney as so evil. Romney was probably the most ethical man yet to have run..but hey Big Bird was at risk …not to mention the low voter turn out by Republicans. I was sure this election we would have seen high voter turn out..I guess I guessed wrong.

  14. 14 | November 26, 2012 3:25 pm

    @ taxfreekiller:

I think it is more complex than that. Buffet already doesn’t pay what he owes, and there is no real evidence that he’d pay more if required to. He isn’t really about requiring himself to pay more. He is about making the upstarts, small businesses and the upwardly mobile in the MIddle Class, pay more. He’ll continue to employee a retinue of tax lawyers to make sure that he doesn’t pay the new levies. Did you see the collumn from Susan Estrich that I linked to last week? She is upset that Obama’s going to raise her taxes. She thought she’d be exempt because she is such a lovely person…

  15. 15 | November 26, 2012 3:25 pm

    @ Iron Fist:

    @ Rodan:

I agree -- I think we should set the investment income at 91%. I’m sure all those people who invest with Berkshire Hathaway will be thrilled that “Uncle Warren” though they should be parted with their money.

Someone has done the math (could have been someone from Tennessee, I’m not sure), and if you confiscated all the wealth from the top 10 Americans, at most it would run the government for a couple of weeks. Increasing the tax rates on those making $250,000 (or even $500,000) and up is not going to create enough revenue to make a dent in the debt or the deficit. We’re past that stage now.

And their solution? Tax the crap out of the rich and raise the debt ceiling.

Taxing the Hollywood people isn’t going to happen..I think obama should do so. But I don’t think he will ..he will tax people in the middle class area the most. Because that is one of the tenets of his religion when he was in Wrights church. The getting rid of the middle class. Too many fools don’t believe what obama is all about and they don’t even believe the crap he says for some reason. If he says he is going to raise taxes…they don’t believe him. Well of course he is going to raise taxes. They were too concerned with the faux war on women for some reason. Really? Obama ran on 1960 issues and won. Unfreaking believable.

No deductions, and you can knock off a quarter of a percentage point for each kid provided you don’t receive any type of government assistance. We can figure it out -- and then present a personal income tax code that is 100 pages long.

Harsh. Don’t know if I’m all in on that one. Maybe because I have kids and a grandchild. This seems to me too apocalyptic. I have a feeling once obamacare hits most people and they realize it is one huge tax then maybe that shock will wake up a few of them. But then again after 4 years of obama it didn’t wake them up to what he is doing. He let his mask slip this election and still people didn’t believe what they saw…it was Republican propaganda that had them in a tissy fit.

Plano Texas area, nice upper income area of Plano.

WalMart at Coit Road and Spring Creek Parkway.

    The morning of Black Friday.

Bed sheets on sale, the 700 thread count ones.

The store allowed people in early to make their way to the area they wanted to buy stuff.

5 min. before time a few people broke ranks and started to pick up the on sale sheets. The others protested, fights broke out, it got worse and worse, people getting beat bad. Cops called large number of them.

30 people thrown in jail for fighting and some for assault charges..

Over sheets on sale in a nice town in a conservative county.

Now think of Calif. when things get bad.

Not sure. I honestly don’t know what will wake up some of the people of this country. You want to wake up the obama voter with pain…they think that pain for certain people is due. Not to mention hard times will build up character for people. They are not concerned with the hard times just as long as the people they envy suffer too. Trust me comes straight from an obama voters mouth…well two obama voters mouths.

And they aren’t even pretending anymore at all….yet people don’t take them at their word???

Liberal Dems Say They Want Country To Go Over Fiscal Cliff, Love The Idea Of Taxes Going Up On Every America And Devastating Cuts To The Military…

A growing bloc of emboldened liberals say they’re not afraid to watch defense spending get gouged and taxes go up on every American if a budget deal doesn’t satisfy their priorities.

Here’s what these progressives fear: an agreement that keeps lower tax rates for the wealthy, hits the social safety net with unpalatable cuts and leaves Pentagon spending unscathed. In other words, they’d rather walk the country off the cliff than watch President Barack Obama cave on long-held liberal priorities.

“If the Republicans can’t see their way to significant additional revenues targeted toward the people who are best off and targeted toward passive income and other things like that, then we’re better off going over the cliff and readdressing this with a better Congress in January,” Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) said. “And we would have plenty of time to fix it.”

Bolstering the Democrats’ strategy is the belief that the “fiscal cliff” is actually shaped more like a “slope” where the economic effects will be felt gradually, not immediately. That theory gives Congress some time at the beginning of 2013 to set tax rates and configure budget cuts in a different political environment and with a new class of lawmakers.

You are right there is no rationale to how these people think…it is about bling and what not to some obama voters but that is painting it with a broad brush…some obama voters actually thought that obama was the more centrist of the two…Romney was the radical and obama the centrist. That maybe one reason. But the obama voters I spoke to didn’t even mention Santorum and Akins. They thought that obama was a centrist and better than Romney who was a radical. Not to mention and here is a biggie…Romney would have done away with obamacare. They want obamacare. They have no idea what they are wishing for. I think the reasons Romney lost run the gamet. Of course the reasons you posted are one aspect of why these obama voters voted for him. Then there is the women who thought they were in the 1960′s again and actually believed there was a war on women. But knew nothing about what Santorum and Akins said. Then there are the ones that voted for obama because *fairness* is more important than *freedom*. I have spoken to a few obama voters and from what I can gather including what you posted the reasons vary far and wide and none of it makes sense. Not to mention many Catholic’s voted for obama even though the Church was warning them of what obama is like and our freedom of religion is at stake…they did not believe the Church.

People should have rebelled against the sleaze, instead they
    bought it.

Yep have heard the same thing except they weren’t afraid of Republicans (although I know a few obama voters who were) that Romney ran a negative, dirty and lying campaign!!! Really? I thought obama did that! When people perfer: “HAIL OBAMA!” “HAIL OBAMA!” “HAIL OBAMA!” instead of “USA!” “USA!” “USA!” …I don’t know what to tell you! Uhmmmm “HAIL OBAMA!” Doesn’t ring a bell with some people??? You know history and all that. Nope it didn’t.

I’m to the point where I don’t give a damn who they blame or what they think. I just want to bask in the glow of their suffering — classic schadenfreude with a dollop of bitterness.

Well the bad thing in that kind of thinking is too many innocents will suffer too. This I cannot get behind. I really can’t. Because sure they need to understand what they did. But way too many innocents will suffer in my opinion…it is always the innocents to feel the wrath first. So I will feel no glee in this at all.
In no way do I mean to offend you here. But the schadenfreude always comes with a heavy price.

No, you don’t offend me, and yes, innocents absolutely will suffer and the responsibility for that lies with our neighbors that seem to have mistaken the presidential election for American Idol. Sometimes the only solace one has is the knowledge those responsible will also suffer for their folly and the hope that they may even suffer more.

It’s no longer a difference of opinion between Republican and Democrat, it’s the difference between right and wrong.

Oh I agree this is beyond Republican or Democrat…it boils down to right and wrong. We as a country have lost our moral footing..now right is wrong and wrong is right. I find it profane to be honest.

Basically you have to accept “it is what it is”. We were hoping that many Americans felt like us or a little like us and saw that obama was a fraud…and hopefully a landslide loss in the election. We were horribly wrong..but we also knew that obama could get re-elected in the back of our minds. Of course now that he has been re-elected we need to go to plan B…and if plan B isn’t fully developed we need to develop it. ;)

2014 is going to be interesting. That buffoon Grayson, newly re-elected to Congress from the apparently brain-dead proggies residing in Orlando (I’m starting to think the Disney cartoons are smarter than some of these clowns) has already been removed by police from an event, and the real promise of “Obamacare” will have come to fruition and the seniors will have realized that the Medicare orations of Obama were just the usual lies, lies and more lies. How many people will have lost their health care by then as company after company realizes they don’t need to provide health care.

My sincere hope is that Roberts takes advantage of the re-hearing on Obamacare to do the right thing and strike it down on the constitutional grounds of religious freedom. Although now I’m hearing there’s a “bi-partisan” bill coming through the House to amend the law to give religious freedom which makes me ask the question — “WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU BOEHNER???”

There very much is the possiblitly of that…obama is way too over confident and I imagine him winning a second term is only going to make it worse and I imagine that he will really test that over-confidence in himself (this time on steroids) humble is not in his charcater). So we are only going to see a more emboldened obama from here on out and that may be what triggers the nuking of himself. It’s possible. Very possible.

Hence that silly sentence about “the ballot box.” That was completely out of place. It’s either constitutional or it isn’t and if it isn’t, what occurs at the ballot box is inconsequential.

Now that Roberts has taken hits from some of the biggest conservative minds in the country, he may very well be looking for his way back -- he may no longer want to have himself judicially linked to Sotomayor and Kagen.

Obanana is a blank slate. The press refused to report anything about his past so people were able to project their own beliefs onto him. This was the plan. A true believer in the highest office of the land, someone ethnically mixed and as inoffensive to the PC crowd as possible. Someone who had no true thoughts of his own, but was groomed and taught what to say and do. Someone with a “worldly” background that would gain the acclaim of others in other lands. The mixed race was vital to this plan. He had to be “ethnic” enough in order to be able to level the charge of racism at anyone who dared to challenge him at any level. Someone who was introduced to all the “right” people and ideas as he grew up. Someone who they made sure had a completely hidden/unspectacular record in school, “work”, and political office.

He is a pastiche of worldly mediocrity combined with the proper beliefs of the 60′s left.

And they are going to do this again with Patrick.

Even people on the left that bought “his” books haven’t even read them. At least none of the ones I’ve confronted have.

I am, I’m more disappointed with Jon Cryer. He supposedly votes republican, but has not even come close to taking a stand as the show got more and more degenerate. (To the point the drug use is almost every episode.)

Could be, but this looks like a really recent conversion. Plus the show has gotten WAY more degenerate. (To think, Charlie Sheen wasn’t actually the whole problem.)

Jon Cryer isn’t saying anything because he doesn’t have the back-bone not to mention now the show is going into drug use?? Unreal. Yet Jon Cryer doesn’t say anything..the youngest actor on the show who is all of 19 says the show is unhealthy and bad to watch has more of a back-bone than Cryer. Unbelievable.

Actually I do watch, because it is pretty funny. There are things that offend me, but the jokes are pretty spot on sometimes.

I felt the show had really dropped in the last season of Sheen. Even though I was never a fan of Ashton, he brought fresh blood and was a fairly innocent character at first. His naivete and personality really gave the show a boost of fun and entertainment.

Now they are turning him into Charlie light, and unfortunately that’s kind of what they are doing with Cryer half the time too.

Honestly at this point I’d rather watch Angus Jones playing his character Jake in the military than the show itself. we haven’t had a good military comedy for a long time.

(Loved Phil Silvers, MASH occasionally was a decent comedy, and Gomer Pyle was great too.)
    Lol, that was actually good.

He isn’t even 21 yet. So he is saying the show is bad and unhealthy says something coming from a 19 year-old. I’ll give him a break. There are lots of 19 year-olds who don’t agree with what the media meme goes with; my youngest son on pain of death would never agree abortion is okay. He’s 26.
