Good Saturday Morning. I thought this apropos given the current circumstances we see here in America after this last election. Do feel free to compare and contrast the situation in Prof Weber’s lecture and our current predicament.
Follow the below link out to the lecture:
38. The American Republic
A new republic, the compromise of radicals and conservatives, was founded on universal freedoms.

I have no idea what you are talking about…I post stories I find..it is what I always have done…

If you want me top leave just say so…I don’t stay on blogs where I am not wanted.

lemme re-quote my comment that i deleted.
stay or leave, i dont give a crap. butr seriously, i dont go on blogs and pepper them with the same sort of story every day over and over again.i get it, islam hates jews, israel is under attack, everone hates the jews, i get it, we get it.
but jeeze, have some respect and maybe wait to post the stories until the thread at least gets some legs. would you like it if some one did this on your blog? it gets old real quick.
so to my original deleted comment:
just askin for a little respect.
usually, the custom is to at least let a thread get going for a little before dropping an obvious bomb. there are other topics out there to comment/ make posts on.
take it or leave it. i dont care.
just askin for a little respect.
sorry about wrenching on the thread, in fact do what ya want. i dont care.
have a great day.
Sorry…didn’t know it was YOUR blog.
I will show more respect to YOUR blog.
do the others know it is your blog?
I guess the intention is to purge the last remaining pro-Israel posters from the blog after “nevergiveup” had left. If so then you can count me in.
Guggi wrote:
bullshit.
dont even start with that.
I am VERY pro-Israel and I post on Islam…it is what I do.
What a great topic and it seems to dovetail well with a lot of discussions we’ve had here of late regarding our nature as Americans and what defines “Western culture”. Alas, I’ve got errands and appointments until late this afternoon and will have to watch the video after the discussion is concluded.
I’ll check back in later to see what was wrought post hoc.
one day I posted a pro-Israel story on little green footballs…and then I was banned…
Guggi wrote:
he left on his own, you know. he still talks with all of us on facebook.
get you damned facts straight before you start throwing around the accusations.
got it?
Storagemanager wrote:
you arent banned and please stop the victim crap.

I just left a blog where every post was attacked…silly me…I thought this place was different..
Storagemanager wrote:
where did i say that?
see, this is exactly what i expected. i ask for just a little consideration and peeps cant take it.
odd, i actually helped train the idf on MSE communication gear (made by gte so you can google it), i also spent time in the ME fighting muzzie bad guys. its all there in public record.
i have actions that have helped israel against her enemies. my boots have been on the ground. have yours?
@ coldwarrior:
Not everyone understands Islam and the hate for Israel…I post for them…not you.

the wife and i are headed here.
i am sorry to have irritated everyone.
i shall do penance.
Look I need to go but there’s something I gotta say. I’ve had some disagreements with CW but he’s a fair man, and that’s a pretty big thing to me. He’s also capable of taking care of himself, but this little dustup is damned uncalled-for and totally undeserved.
Going OT on the first comment is pretty rude -- it’s insulting to the person who made the post. If one is not interested, go to another post.
Now I’m outta here and will check in later.
Well, I wondered how it would take this to happen…
I gotta go with CW on this one.
MacDuff wrote:
You are right…sorry CW.
Good Mornin All….make it a great day
Storagemanager wrote:
Yes, why yes it is 1/3 his blog.
And, as much as I do enjoy your links, I also enjoy CW’s Saturday lectures as well.
Carry on please.
Storagemanager wrote:
no worries my friend. i blew it. my bad.
now off to get a pizza!
Good morning. I see that we had a little dust up.
It looks like it’s all good now.
@ Guggi:
What?
There is a California purge underway at this site too. //
So I should take a break like Dorian did or just vent my spleen?
not sure about hating on CA, but it’s fiscal nightmare is worth following….
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/12/07/CALIFORNIA-STATE-BUDGET-GOES-OFF-THE-CLIFF
@ heysoos:
My comment was pure sarc haysoos.
I left California 8 years ago.
You can’t do business competitively in CA like you can in other states, sadly.
@ Calo:
I think CA can again be a net plus for our republic.
It’s a beautiful, resource-rich state with great farmland, beautiful mountains and natural features, and a truly great history of enterprise.
My problem with CA occur will occur when residents and politicians from CA demand federal economic intervention when it was policies that they supported vigorously that caused the ginormous problem.
It will be up to Californians, the fate of their state.
Darn it I wish Dr. Weber was still around. The dreamers vs. realist observation is extremely appropos for the current time. The dreamers are overdrawn at the bank and want the realist to cover them. The realist are asking why the heck are you still spending and get real hacked off at having to bail them out without some commitment to better behavior.
Obama is now saying that we have sufficient assets in the
“region” do respond to anything in Syria.
Interesting since they claimed we did not have those assets
to respond in Benghazi.
@ Storagemanager:
Come on Storagemanager… don’t be one dimensional.
What does California do?
Do they fold their cards and file BK or fight on?
Do the coastal regions have a stranglehold on the state or will the Conservatives have a voice eventually in Sacramento?
If I were Jerry Brown, I’d probably be as socialist as I could be because I know that I stand a good chance of gettin’ PAID under this administration.
Bumr50 wrote:
It’s still to early to pretend to be Jerry Brown.
Bumped from another thread
@ Calo:
If your aim is command and control you would not start with middle and small businesses to recruit them to your cause. You start with big businesses. I can hear O telling all those CEO’s he has been “cosying” up to that he may trash them publicly to stay in power but there will be an “understanding” between them to keep everyone happy.
Calo wrote:
i thought i saw that the other day. dorian is mistaken. it’s not “california hate”; rather, we hate what the left has done to california. some of us do indeed make statements that sound as if we wish CA would go over it’s own fiscal cliff already. we just want it to end so perhaps getting through the nightmare caused by the CAlefties is the best way to have it done already.
Calo wrote:
California just elected a Democrat Supermajority in its legislature. The non-coastal areas no longer have any effective representation in Sacremento. That is the cold hard facts of the situation.
@ Kirly:
California serves as an Object Lesson for the ultimate end of Democrat policies. As does Detroit. That is the future of this Country under the leadership that we’ve elected. The Repunblicans lack the conviction to make that arguement, but it is nonetheless the truth.
Iron Fist wrote:
Very close to a microcosm of the US, isn’t it?
@ MacDuff:
It is. It is entirely possible that the collapse of California is predictive of how the collapse of the United States will go. The Democrats bribe their way into power and then bankrupt the State. California is already bankrupt. Without pension reform, there is no way that they’ll be able to support their public union pensions for much longer. Five years, maybe ten, and the baby boom generation retiring will bankrupt them sure as death. But the peopl eof California have elected a Legislature and Governor (Governor Moonbeam again? Really?) that will not only not look at the problem but ar actively finding more rat-holes to pour public money down until the State’s creditors say “Enough!” The smart money is gettng out of California. By all reports the back country is devolving into a Third World state, and it is no wonder. They have a Third World kleptocracy in contorl, and they voted it in.
@ Iron Fist:
They seem to be taking their lead from Venezuela. Demonize the “rich,” promise to take their money away and give it to the “poor,” and of course the poor will vote for you.
What the California Dems didn’t account for in their plans is the fact that they lack the power Chavez has to actually follow through on those plans. Jerry Brown can’t nationalize businesses, he can’t prevent people from fleeing the state, and he can’t sieze the assets of those who do.
CA has long been a leading state and harbinger of the future, and they maintain that role today. They’re showing us exactly how bad it will get in the rest of the country. Raise taxes and what happens? Duh! Revenue falls, of course….
http://gopthedailydose.com/2012/12/08/despite-tax-increase-california-state-revenues-in-freefall/
CA residents can look forward to more and more rounds of tax increases while the rest of us can look forward to being forced to bail them out, because these morons never learn.
@ Mike C.:
Yeah, Obama may spend a trillion of tax-payer’s money to bail out California, but at the end of the day there will be no one to bail the United States out when the time comes. California loses its predective value when parts of it can (maybe) break off and no longer be slaves to the central government. It will get really interesting seeing what happens when the United States can no longer pay its bills.
Taking responsibility for America’s drunken binge would be a lot more palatable if I’d actually have participated in the drunken binge. It’s like having the hangover without the preceding night’s party.
@ Mike C.:
Very few of the things politicians try to do haven’t been tried elsewhere before. All they need to do is look around.
New Jersey tried implementing a “millionaire tax” a few years ago. What happened as a result? Tax revenues went down, not up.
What happened when Hollande announced his plans for a 75% tax rate for the rich? Wealthy French people started making plans to leave.
Apparently, these politicians think that rich people are like cows or something, and they’ll just stand around eating grass until they’re slaughtered.
@ Iron Fist:
Obama is betting that the day of reckoning will come after he’s left office. There’s no reason to expect that the media will suddenly stop worshiping him after that, so the resulting collapse will be blamed on someone else (Bush, probably).
@ lobo91:
The whole “tax the hell out of the rich!” movement is a lot like resorting to cannibalism, eating your friends and family, and calling it “a heart healthy diet”.
