Jake Tapper is out at ABC and will now take the position of Chief Washington Correspondent at CNN and will also anchor a noon news program.
Jake is leaving ABC News for an opportunity at CNN. You’ll hear more about his new anchor role from his new network. For years, Jake has set the pace for the White House press corps. A ferocious reporter – and now a best-selling author – he has built a reputation as one of the most prolific and multi-talented journalists on the beat, scoring scoop after scoop. For the last three years his fellow White House correspondents have honored his work with a streak of Merriman Smith Awards for Presidential Coverage under Deadline Pressure.
A subsequent release by CNN said Tapper will be the chief Washington correspondent and will anchor a noon network program beginning in 2013.
Tapper has been just about the only serious journalistic voice among the many so-called journalists at ABC, CBS, CNN and NBC in recent memory. ABC will replace Tapper with Jonathan Karl who will take over as Chief Washington Correspondent and will additionally have an expanded role as Global Affairs Correspondent. No surprise there as Jonathan Karl is a typical media hack who ABC can rely on to carry water for the Obama regime and the democrats. You can check some of his reportage here.
I have several questions regarding Jake’s departure from ABC. Who fired who? Tapper recently asked Obama “Where have you been?” on the issue of gun control.
Dear Leader was clearly not amused. Did the regime pressure ABC to dump Jake or was Jake just fed up with the journalistic malpractice at ABC? Also, does this mean that CNN will try to recover some shreds of ethical journalism by hiring a correspondent who is unafraid to ask the “who, when, why, where and how” that used to be the hallmarks of honest journalism? As they say in the news bidness… DEVELOPING.

What? CNN is hiring journalists?! This clearly indicates a radical change in their strategy, no?
That’s my question. Will CNN attempt a return to journalism, or has Jake sold his soul to the mendacity gods? It will be interesting to see.

Actually, I don’t think he’s sold out; he’s the hottest thing real journalism has seen in quite some time and CNN knows it. ABC must be devastated. Hiring him is CNN’s way of wresting some market share from Fox and I think they’ll be successful. Hell, I’ll watch his show and I haven’t had CNN on in years!
Who?

I hope you’re right. I think Jake’s the real deal. The only other real journalist outside of Fox is Sharyl Attkisson of CBS News. She broke the Fast & Furious story.

Jake Tapper has been the White House correspondent for ABC News for some time now. Other than the Fox folks, he’s the only WH correspondent who will open challenge the regime and ask hard questions. See the above Youtube.
@ huckfunn:
She does a lot of good work. I am surprised CBS hasn’t fired her for doing her job too well.
Sorry for the early O/T, but with attacks on our 2nd Amendment rights in full swing and the feeding frenzy to do away with them by many in politic, media, and their ‘droids, let’s look once again at the UK where almost all guns are banned. Of course there is still gun violence, criminals being criminals and all, but human and criminal nature being what it is, alternative weapons are always at hand.
Either it is the “endemic knife culture” decried by the judge in the following article, or it is items found in any hardware store, hammers, or sections of pipe. People, more properly criminals will use whatever is at hand to use as weapons, including force of numbers.
These totalitarians who seek to deprive us of our civil rights would have all of us at the mercy of jungle rules.
Judge condemns ‘endemic’ knife culture as gang who battered victim with brandy and champagne bottles before stabbing him to death are jailed for 93 years
It’s going to be interesting to see what time CNN puts Tapper on. Going up against O’Reilly/Hannity is a death wish

I’ve been curious as to how good people like Attkison and Tapper square their ethics while working for state run media.

BTW, he’s got a book out which I understand is outstanding: The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor
I do think he’s the real deal. There’s a huge sucking vacuum where journalism once resided and it was just a matter of time until someone came along to fill it. I’m hoping he does to Obama what Woodward & Bernstein did to Nixon.
@ MacDuff:
That book is on my list.
Now I’ve to get it in gear as I’ve got things to do.

It’s been a good week for Obama. The Newport shooting is helping his gun control agenda and the failure of Plan b helps him in the fiscal cliff. This man has nothing but luck on his side.
Fox is reporting that the Marine held in a Mexican prison will be released today.

Thank God.

Have a wonderful day, all!

It’s lovely!

It’s about time.

She’s CNN, right? If they want any credibility after hiring Tapper, they need to dump her, Ashleigh Banfield and Pus Morgan STAT.
@ lobo91:
Yes they are. I imagine there is polling going on by the White House telling them that this is NOT going to be a winning issue for them. NRA is reporting an average of 8,000 NEW memberships a day since Newtown. Gun sales are up.
I imagine the Dumbocrats in Congress, unless they’re in a super blue district, are going to be backing off this as well.
Carolina Girl wrote:
Not necessarily. The Democrats have been pushing for strict gun control since 1934. They may think that they can do it this time. It’ll depend on whether or not the Republicans in the House will fight. IF they roll over on us, it’ll be all over. But strict gun control is probably a prelude to a civil war. The people who are buying these guns today have no intention of turning them over just because their lords and masters in Washington decree that they do so.

Do you kno whow expensive 3_D printers are? It is much cheaper to machine a receiver out of aluminum than it would be to print one out on a 3-D printer. This is asolution in search of a problem, really. And what are they going to do? Outlaw 3-D printers and CAD software? These people are stupid squared.
@ Guggi:
I would think that Kerry would be well suited to be the U.S Ambassador
to Viet Nam.
Apparently a picture of Kerry hangs in the War Museum in Ho
Chi Minh City.
I bet gun sales are dropping already. Mainly because they;ve all been bought up and the supply line is getting empty.
I saw that article on the 3D printing this morning. Until the can make bolts, springs, extractors and barrels out of non-metallic material, I think the nonsense about “undectable guns” is just that -- nonsense. And I’m quite certain that in an airport X-ray scanner, plastic or not, that printed AR lower would have been instantly recognizeable. Plastic is NOT transparent to X-rays.
@ Iron Fist:
People rent time on the commercial 3D printers…
@ Iron Fist:
The Dems will probably will want ban that too.
@ Mike C.:
Yeah, but it’s still heaper to make the receiver out of aluminium. And as you point out, they aren’t going to be printing out barrels. This is just something the gun control nuts want to use to hype the supposed dangers of guns. Did you kno wmore poeople are killed in car accidents every year than are killed with guns? They haven’t tried to ban cars yet.

I just finished “The Outpost” the other day, and it is an epic piece of writing. Mind you, there are a few MSM-kneejerk moments in there, such as the occasional digs at Dubya, and condemnation of waterboarding, etc. All in all, though, the book tells a very compelling story in a very clear and engaging way, and the climactic battle is rendered in brutal, realistic detail. If you like military history, it’s a must-read.

It’s like the SF story where somebody went back in time, stepped on a butterfly, and created a cascading series of events that corrupted the modern world. Can’t remember the name. But then I am not much of a science fiction fan.
