A New, Lighter Thread..with 1/3 less Heavy.

Comments

Comments and respectful debate are both welcome and encouraged.

Comments are the sole opinion of the comment writer, just as each thread posted is the sole opinion or post idea of the administrator that posted it or of the readers that have written guest posts for the Blogmocracy.

Obscene, abusive, or annoying remarks may be deleted or moved to spam for admin review, but the fact that particular comments remain on the site in no way constitutes an endorsement of their content by any other commenter or the admins of this Blogmocracy.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!

Turn water off to California. Raise park fees tripe to all non residents. Just stop putting maintenance into parks.

Promote washington and oregon into two new east and west states. East Rubeland and West Nerdland

Take the state where R’s are governor in the East and triple the Semi Truck fees. Slow down interstate commerce to the east coast. Savage probably knows the best way to do it. Unions do the reverse all the time.

here’s my theory… head wimps at DSG freaked out and decided to terminate all firearms sales in process, or future. made the announcement and the refused to hear anything further about it. bastages. i’m in supplier management and you just don’t do that. DSG will regret screwing their supplier, Troy, and in turn, Troy’s suppliers. i hope someone quantifies this into a number of jobs lost including downstream.

Just watch out for restrictions to the ammunition supply as well as propellents and caps for the do it yourselfers.

That’s where the ‘gun control solution’ will hit home.

Speaking of Dick’s Sporting Goods, it would be interesting if a gun store opened that advertised it sold “tyranny resistance tools” instead of “sporting goods.”

Proggie heads would explode, but I bet you business would be brisk.

That’s where I think they’ll go. Not restricting it, just buying up all the ammo & raw materials to make it.

Remember, they trial ballooned this back in 2009 buying it all up for the DoD & Homeland Security and it worked quite well.

Tell me about it. I purchased 2 million rounds of frangible 5.56mm from a South Dakota manufacturer for an Asian client. It was a bugger’s muddle trying to get raw materials. The manufacturer eventually found the propellent somewhere and the caps came in from Germany in the end.

true, but if you followed the links all the way to the Troy statement (which is not to imply that you didn’t, just the way i wrote it in my excitement at being able to apply my knew career to current market events), you can see that Troy is saying not at the same prices. Troy says that DSG devalued the Troy brand by the deep discounts DSA had at Thanksgiving. Now, those customers orders are cancelled and when they can find them elsewhere, they’ll either cost more OR Troy will be selling them at a loss.

Filed under poetic -- we have this delicious story.

Remember the NY rag that outed all of the concealed carry holders and put dots on a map where they all lived? Then their editors/staff were outed (presumably by a CC holder) who did the same -- placing dots on a map where they all lived. Well, it seems the paper has now hired armed security to secure their facility.

Moral of the story -- people with guns are a defense against possible bad guys. :) Note: The paper still hasn’t admitted their stunning embrace of this simple premise in print, however their actions have confirmed its validity.

I’m not a southerner, but isn’t y’all the grits eatin’ equivalent of y’inz, i.e. plural? We don’t have a y’all up here in Pennsyltucky, but we do have an all y’all -- which is also plural when referring to a group. The correct singular is you’s, or if east of the Susquehanna spelled youse.

Frequently in certain circles especially, you may hear the grammatically incoherent “youse guys”. Even in the roughest of circles, the mismatch of singular and plural pronouns in the same context is frowned upon and you can well imagine the confusion it engenders. It’s rumored the Hatfield-McCoy feud was started by such a colloquial mishmash of grammar.

Yes, except taxes are already going up on ALL Americans, effective today because the payroll tax holiday expired at midnight but they wouldn’t extend it in the Senate bill.So that comes out to around an average 25-50 bucks most middle-class Americans will see missing from their paychecks.I’ll bet they conveniently left that out.

The CBO also came out just within hours of the vote & said this plan adds 4 trillion more dollars to the debt over the next 10 years & only brings in 600 billion in new revenue.

The main problem with CBO is that they “score” bills using whatever criteria they’re told to use.

If they’re told to assume that there’s going to be 4% unemployment, 10% annual GDP growth, no natural disasters and no wars, that’s what they do.

The main problem with CBO is that they “score” bills using whatever criteria they’re told to use.
If they’re told to assume that there’s going to be 4% unemployment, 10% annual GDP growth, no natural disasters and no wars, that’s what they do.

the CBO is just an extension of congress…they hit, they miss…I hate the feds

My brother purchased a Sig P250 today at Cabela’s. The receipt included something listed as “Medical Excise Tax” for $9.89 on a $429 purchase. The Cabela’s guy said it was one of the thousands taxes in effect today as a result of ObamaCare. Wasn’t that 2.3% supposed to be on medical equipment?

I’m not a southerner, but isn’t y’all the grits eatin’ equivalent of y’inz, i.e. plural? We don’t have a y’all up here in Pennsyltucky, but we do have an all y’all — which is also plural when referring to a group.

I am ONLY 1/2 Southern. I am also 1/2 ethnic. When we were little, one parent sat my sister and I down and tried to explain the proper use of “ya’ll.” (We both thought it was pretty funny.) The other parent was always saying “yous guys” (not sure how that first word should be spelled, but it is pronounced “use.”) While I have lived in many places over my long life, I have been here in Dixieland for the last eight years continuously. People from different parts of the South land have differing opinions about the proper use of “ya’ll.”

If you bother to say it once in awhile, even if it wrong, folks will think of you as a “Northerner” and not as a “Yankee.” That is a good start.

Missouri parent raising us in the frozen North land. Not just ice tea, but sweetened ice tea. (We didn’t know that you could drink it any other way.) Grandma taught us to make biscuits and corn bread at a tender age. Of course, we had to have black-eyed peas and other Southern vegetables. The other side of the family filled us with ethnic foods.

It was very important to know about “ya’ll” and the reasoning was “in case you have to talk to Southerns or colored folk.”

I first heard of Jeff Davis before I could read. I could not believe that we got Lincoln’s birthday off and knew it would be tough to explain at home.

Uh yup. And in the South there are people who like sweet tea and those who like their tea without sugar. So it’s best to make two batchs of tea…sweet tea and plain tea. ;)

That is right. So many friends that either diabetic or dieting or just trying to keep their sugar levels down these day even here in Dixieland.

At my currents haunts, the term is “un-sweet” or “un sweetened” tea. Do they say “plain tea” in New Orleans?

    @ CzechRebel:

Don’t know about New Orleans…they usually just ask if you want sweet tea or plain tea. Been that way since forever. It’s just a matter of how you like your ice tea.
/I suppose now days watching ones weight or sugar level is prudent. But I grew up on plain tea yet in the same family my uncle and aunts liked sweet tea.

And, again, we are not seceding from the US of A.

Sign me up for plain tea tonight, as a Texan looking for all y’alls dirty laundry tonight.

    F*k the un-sweet tonight.

OK, I will try asking for “plain tea” next time. I am embarrassed to say that I lost my taste for sugar years ago. Have to see what they say when put it that way.

I don’t care who secedes first. Alaska has a secession group and an Independence party. New Hampshire has its “Free State Project.” South Carolina and Alabama have some independence-minded people. I have no contacts there, but I have heard that Hawaii has a secessionist organization too.

I meant it as a complaint to pick Texas as the example. Have relatives by marriage from there. Got a free 72 ounce steak in Amarillo once. Brain freeze or no brain freeze, I like that governor.

Why a free Texas would be an insult is beyond me.

I guess because we are Texans, but most importantly, American citizens, first and foremost.

Yeah, they didn’t exactly vote to come aboard. Basically we annexed the place.

heh. Remember the Journal News was going to double down and publish names/addresses of gun permit holders in Putnam County.

Well, no, they’re not. Because Putnam County just said NO

Putnam County Clerk Dennis Sant said he would defy a request for information about pistol permit holders from the White Plains, New York-based Journal News, which has come under criticism for publishing thousands of such identities already.

“There is the rule of law, and there is right and wrong and the Journal News is clearly wrong,” Sant said in a statement. “I could not live with myself if one Putnam pistol permit holder was put in harm’s way, for the sole purpose of selling newspapers.”

OK, if you say so. I think of that an old file film on the Vietnam War. The guy has some sort of piece of equipment working on the airfield. The piece of equipment has two little flags on the back, on is the flag of Texas and other is the Confederate flag.

What is that cartoon? King of the Hill? The wife is Peggy Hill or Penny Hill or whatever but she refers to herself as “a citizen of Texas.” What is the guys name? Hank Hill? Henry Hill? He tells his kid Bobby that “During WW II, grandpa was fighting for the freedom of Texas.”

My new relatives from Texas tell me that Texas and ONLY Texas has the right to tell fly the Texas flag on the top of the Stars and Stripes. I am not sure if it is true, but they sure like telling people that.

I once had a doctor from “the Republic” operate on me. He recommenced a book called the “Lone Star People.” He told me that the Texans were Texans first and Americans . . . well, Americans when ever.

No disrespect, but I am just not too familiar with the concept of being a Texan being second to anything else.

Well, I guess I am just an idjot who talks to hundreds (yes, you read that right) of Texans every week.

But, never have I seen any Texan fly our State Flag above the US of A flag.

Crap, could be the result of living in the 4th populated city in the US.

After all, we are just a bunch of hicks ready to thumb our nose at you precious, South Carolina friends.

Told me it was a rarely used privileged. If it is not true, it is not true.

I will ask for documentation if it comes up again.
