Knowing that gun legislation will probably not pass Congress, the Hipster god-king is planning on using Executive orders on gun laws.
The White House has identified 19 executive actions for President Barack Obama to move unilaterally on gun control, Vice President Joe Biden told a group of House Democrats on Monday, the administration’s first definitive statements about its response to last month’s mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Later this week, Obama will formally announce his proposals to reduce gun violence, which are expected to include renewal of the assault weapons ban, universal background checks and prohibition of high-capacity magazine clips. But Biden, who has been leading Obama’s task force on the response, spent two hours briefing a small group of sympathetic House Democrats on the road ahead in the latest White House outreach to invested groups.

This is how I predicted it would play out several days ago.
They only had two options.
1. Ram the Feinstein bill in, have the dems and republicans jointly defeat it, they propose “common sense” legislation and lambaste the republicans for opposing it while they attempt to get it rammed through.
2. Bring together different groups to talk with Biden (actually be lectured to by Biden) and then the won would declare that in the current “political climate” nothing can get accomplished and he would drive through a series of EO’s accomplishing his plans.
The things he is proposing are the same ones I figured he would. They have been bitching about “high capacity” magazines for weeks so they telegraphed that move.
They have wanted the Klinton “assault weapon” ban reinstated since the day it was overturned. Even though not a single one of the asshats involved can tell anyone WTF an assault weapon is. And the expanded background checks will allow them to have an even clearer overview of where the legal weapons are when confiscation comes. It will also be used down the road to establish some form of test/mental fitness evaluation in order to deny weapons.
Their goal with expanded registration and checks is so they can create a system like NY has. A very lengthy expensive process that results in almost total denial of rights.
Only background check if a national voter id is used to start the check.
