Sen. Chuck Schumer wants retailers to not sell guns; Maryland Gov. O’Malley to push for stricter gun laws

NY’s Fascist Senator Chuck Schumer, who has a dark vision for Americans, shows his totalitarian nature again. He is now calling on gun retailers to stop selling weapons until Congress gets legislation done. Keep in mind, there is no certainty that any legislation would pass Congress. But being the Fascist he is, Schumer thinks he can order private businesses around.

NEW YORK — Sen. Charles Schumer says retailers that sell assault weapons should stop offering them for purchase while Congress discusses gun regulation legislation.

Schumer on Sunday released a letter he sent to major retailers asking for a voluntary moratorium.

The New York Democrat says consumer demand for guns has gone up in the weeks since the December mass shooting in Newtown, Conn.

Schumer is an un-American totalitarian Fascist. If left to his own devices, he would see Americans disarmed and those who oppose his Fascist vision would be killed in camps. This Fascist jerk has no right to tell any business what they can sell. The fact that Schumer makes this suggestion shows his evil nature.

Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley proposes new Fascist laws against guns in his state. The proposal is a violation of the 2nd Amendment and personal freedom.

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley will seek to institute some of the nation’s strictest gun-licensing requirements, ban assault weapons and restrict visitor access to schools in one of the most expansive government responses sought to last month’s school shooting in Newtown, Conn.

Perhaps most controversially, O’Malley (D) will ask the General Assembly to force prospective gun owners to provide fingerprints to state police, complete a hands-on weapon-familiarization and gun-safety course, and undergo a background check to be licensed.

[....]

O’Malley’s plan, which administration officials described Sunday, positions him among a cadre of Democratic governors, including New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, seeking aggressive gun-control legislation in state capitals. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to provide the details, which have not been previously disclosed.

Fascism is alive and well in the US!

It’ll be interesting to see what the Supreme Court does with Maryland’s laws. OF course, they declared Chicago’s unconstitutional, and Chicago told them to suck it. I’m not sure how much good the Supreme Court is going to be for us even if they come down four-square for us.

Fascist Andrew Cuomo is close to his goal in NY.

A key New York Senate leader and the Assembly speaker said they expect the state Legislature to vote Monday to enact what would be the nation’s first gun control measure following last month’s Connecticut school shooting.

“I think when all is said and done, we are going to pass a comprehensive gun bill today,” Sen. Jeffrey Klein told reporters Monday morning. “I’m very excited about it. I am very confident we are going to vote on a comprehensive bill that will be agreed on by the governor, the Senate and Assembly.”

People familiar with closed-door negotiations told The Associated Press a tentative deal was struck over the weekend.

The tentative agreement would further restrict New York’s ban on assault weapons, limit the size of magazines to seven bullets, down from the current 10, and enact more stringent background checks for sales. Other elements, pushed by Republicans, would refine a mental health law to make it easier to confine people determined to be a threat to themselves or others.

I wouldn’t move to New York for half a million dollars a year. It simply wouldn’t be worth it. I know I could get a significant raise by moving to a large city. Say Nashville or Atlanta, and I wouldn’t have to put up with asinine and unconstitutional laws. But the down-sides of big cities are simply not worth the increase in salary. I’ll make a little less here, but I have a much better quality of life. I’m a ten minute drive from home, here. That’s hard to beat.

They don’t have the votes to get an Assault Weapons ban out of the Senate, let alone through the House. There are 14 Democrats up for re-election in 2014, and a number of them are from solid Red States. I bet they wish Obama would shut his pie hole. All he’s doing is maybe making it impossible for them to retain their seats. They won’t vote for cloture, let alone a ban.

If a gun confiscation comes, watch at least a third of the gun owners complying right off the bat. Then the next third will comply when they are threatened with whatever sanctions the regime can come up with. But, maybe the last third will refuse to comply, even at the point of a gun at their head. That may be enough to start some sort of evolution in the country’s thinking. Add an R.

I watched the Bourne Ultimatum again last night. I guess if you get on the wrong list there is nothing you will be able to hide and no place to run to if they are after you. The government can track every site you’ve ever visited on your laptop of ipad. They will know when you went out into the desert to scout out your hunt or whatever. I fear America has built a totalitarian government that would make 1984 look like child’s play. All it is going to take is the wrong president and the wrong congress at the right time.

The real problem with any sort of effective mass confiscation scheme is the fact that the majority of guns in the US are unregistered. There is no federal gun registration database (although creating one is one of the Dems’ plans) and only a few states actually register them.

That leaves going door to door.

A lot of what you see in movies like that is overblown. The feds don’t actually have the ability to monitor an individual person’s electronic communications in real time, nor can they appropriate the feeds from suveillance cameras with a few mouse clicks the way they portray it on shows like NCIS: Los Angeles.

    @ RIX:

It’ll be interesting to see what he tries with that. I can think of a few things he might do, but they have questionable constitutionality, at best. The worst thing I can think of is that he simply orders the BATF to treat “assault weapons” (as defined by the BATF, so whatever the hell they want to) as Any Other Weapon under the NFA. I don’ tthink the Supereme Court will let that fly, but it’d take a couple of years for that to wind its way through the courts. I think there’d be massive civil disobediance to such an order, though.

Which would be impractical, at the very least. You’d have to do it nationwide simultaneously. Otherwise, people could just move their guns to a different location.

This is an awfully big country, after all.

And then there’s the minor issue of the 4th and 5th Amendments. I know it’s a quaint idea these days, but the feds simply don’t have the legal authority to search every home in America.

I don’t think even the fanatics at the BATF really want to go door to door trying to take people’s guns. Number one, they’d have to do it without a warrent. That’s illegal. People would resist. If one tenth of the gunowners resisted, that’d be over ten million people.

Oh, Schumer and Feinstein would, but would enough of them? I don’t know, and I doubt Obama knows the answer to that question, either. The wrong EO on gun control could be overturned by the Congress before the Supereme Court even gets to rule on it. It’ll be interesting to see what Obama does with it. As he famously said, he believes his own bullshit. He thinks he is a god, and that all us little people should simply dance to his tune. He’s forgotten how close a thing it was getting ObamaCare out fo the Congress, and gun control is less popular than socialized medicine.

The mindset at ATF hasn’t changed since the botched Waco raid. They depend on overwhelming firepower--”shock and awe,” if you will--when they serve a warrant. You’ll never see one or two agents knock on someone’s door during daylight. A dozen of them will show up in full SWAT gear with MP-5s at 3am.

So then they pass laws to first make certain guns/objects illegal to manufacture or import. Then they pass laws to make certain already existing guns/parts have to be registered. Then they expand those to more guns. Then they pass laws to outlaw certain guns/objects and require a turn in like in Egland/Australia. Extra stiff penalties for non-compliance, like no FHA mortgages, student loans or working for the government if you get caught with these outlawed items (like an AR15 or a 14 rd mag for your pistol. Firing ranges are monitored by the expanded BATF. Game wardens are charged with enforcing gun laws at check point inspections, etc. Little by little and step by step they will take more and more of the guns away. That ishow they will probably do it.

Firing ranges are monitored by the expanded BATF. Game wardens are charged with enforcing gun laws at check point inspections, etc. Little by little and step by step they will take more and more of the guns away. That ishow they will probably do it.

in that case just toss a couple hundred ARs and extra prts and drive over the border from Mexico to Tucson…then go back for 2 tons of ammo…problem solved…the BP would probably be on their coffee break at the proper time

They’ll have a hard time keeping people on the payroll, after people see how many of them get shot. Federal agents will end up being like the police in Iraq and Afghanistan, where they have to wear ski masks to hide their identity.

    @ buzzsawmonkey:

I don’t disagree, but the question is really how Roberts will view it. Will he see it (rightly) as a threat to the power of the Supereme Court? If I am correct, and he judged the way he did in the ObamaCare ruling ourt of fear of being called “partisan”, that may still matter to him. I think the decision goes 5-4, yes, but I wouldn’t want to bet on it going either way. Is Obama that big a gambler? He could lose big-time here. And, as I said, I wouldn’t necessarily bet on it getting to the Supreme Court. Obama may believe his own bullshit, but th eDonk Senators who will lose their jobs over it may not. Those people love their position more than God. They might vote against the Black Jesus® if he forces the issue. Not all of them, no, but enough of them to override Obama’s veto of the legislation to over-rule his unconstitutional EO.

Didn’t O-blow-mo just piss away the better part of nearly $900 Billion on shovel ready projects?

WTH does all the money go?

New pay-per-mile scheme would boost taxes 250 percent

An on-again, off-again move by the Obama administration to scrap the federal gas tax in favor of a pay-per-mile fee would boost the tab to Americans as high as 250 percent, raising their current tax of 18.4 cents a gallon to as high as 46 cents, according to a new government study.

But without a tax increase, said the Government Accountability Office study, the government’s highway fund is going to go dry. One reason the fund is going broke: President Obama’s push for fuel efficient cars has resulted in better mileage, and fewer stops at the pump.

There go those unintended consequences again.

The administration floated that plan in the first term, but scrapped it when it was met with public outrage. However, several states and some in Congress are now eyeing the plan, keeping it alive as a federal option.

The worst part is, these self-aggrandizing socialists are peddling that they are doing their evil for our own good!

There is nothing worse than an oppressor who is oppressing for good of the oppressed.

    @ Lily:

Wife wants me to go to her neighbourhood social club inauguration party this weekend. I said you really want me to go? I think we should rent a hearse. I am in no mood to celebrate the destruction of my country. Even if there are many there who agree with me.

I am supposed to think up some kind of “political” appetizer. I said you’re kidding me. I suggested bread and water, because some of us will need to get used to it for when we are sent to the re-education camps. That did not fly with her. So I next suggested Spotted Dick. I saw a can of it in grocery store the other day. I had other ideas that elicited groans, from her such as pulled pulled pork. Still don’t know what I will bring. Is there a dish associated with treason?

WoW now you got me there on that one! How about stuffed potatoe skins because potatoes will be about all one will be able to eat in the camps. Plus your wife will acknowledge it as a real type of food to be brought to the social event. ;)

Obama, and his pals. Do de name “Cayman Islands” mean anything to you?

That’s a lot of money. I thought chairman owe-ba-mao said all our problems were because of wealthy people. Oh, wait, now I get it. He was talking about himself, and his closest and not so coincidentally his richest supporters.

I’d have to do it myself. I would not trust might end up in the cake otherwise. For all I know the bakery could be a union shop, or the bakers rabid obamabots. I do live in the Peoples Republik of MD,

it was…one of the forces that drove the Beatles apart was not allowing Harrison to often record his stuff and writing was his highest ambition…Lennon was a real jerk about it….so I point that out for Harrison’s behalf….but I am loath to distract from your own talents….carry on….please

Ooooooooh indeed. You would have to be careful.. but you could print out a pic of your avatar and make it to were it would fit on the sheet cake. Hence the easy going on there.

98% of the gun bloodshed in this country was a direct result of liberal policy creating vast ghettos full of fatherless bangers, and dumping all the mentally deranged on the public in the early 70′s…liberal solution? deny me a weapon to defend myself from a monster they themselves created…I don’t care what BO or the SC says…they can all go fuck themselves…I am not your problem ,but you are swiftly becoming mine…something has to give

yeah, a lot of bad dynamics there at the end, with Harrison and Starr caught in the middle…Linda Eastman and her dad didn’t help preserve the band…they were doomed from the beginning because they were true to each other, the reason the Stones are still raking in millions after 50 years
