Russia is now officially offering to help France in it’s war against al-Qaeda in Mali.
MOSCOW, January 20 (RIA Novosti) – French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said Moscow has offered its help to Paris in transporting French troops and supplies to crisis-hit Mali.
“The Russians have proposed to provide means of transport for the French,” Fabius said in the interview with Europe 1 radio on Sunday.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has not made official comment on the statement, which was made following Saturday’s phone conversation between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his French counterpart.
Good on Russia!

Those Russians won’t mess around! If they catch the Mohammedans in the shit house, they’ll DIE in the shit house!
Sounds like they won’t be providing combat troops, Macker, only airlift capability.
The Frenchies must be lacking in that area, those big Antonovs could make a logistical difference.
@ The Osprey:
Oh, the little Antonov! We’ve had one of those here in Wichita a few times, but it’s been a few years. Big S.O.B.
Then there’s the big one...

Back when I lived in the SF Bay Area, I used to see an AN-124 at NASA Moffet Field. It belonged to a Ukrainian air freight company and I think it was hauling US built components for the International Space Station that were to be launched on Russian boosters.
@ The Osprey:
Yeah, that sounds right. I think the one that came here was hauling stuff for Cessna, maybe.
We also had the Concorde in here while I was working for an airline. Damn! I was on the taxiway next to the runway it took off from. Beautiful!
Only along the banks of the Volga can you find Muslims that eat pork and drink vodka.
