This is an update to a thread I did 8 days ago about sheriffs who have pledged to not enforce Obama’s gun control laws and XOs. In that 8 days the number of sheriffs taking the pledge has doubled from 127 to 256.

Sheriffs have risen up all over our great nation to stand up against the unconstitutional gun control measures being taken.

The following is a list of sheriffs and state sheriff’s associations from who have vowed to uphold and defend the Constitution against Obama’s unlawful gun control measures.  I applaud these public servants for their courage and conviction.

I call on sheriffs all over this nation to add their voices to the growing numbers of faithful protectors of our freedom. -Richard Mack

Sheriffs and associations who have made public statements committing to protect their citizens’ 2nd Amendment rights from Obama’s gun control efforts will be added.  Some of these sheriffs are members of the CSPOA, but inclusion in this list does not necessarily mean they are a member.

Read the entire article here for a list of the 256 sheriffs and 6 sheriff’s associations who will stand against the gun grabbers.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!

I love this. Solid action at the state level. Goes nicely with all the gun protection laws being put in place in the sane states.

There are no sheriffs from Wyoming on there. Want to know why? Wyoming has already passed laws making it illegal to enforce Obama gun regs there.

    @ Mars:
I’m going to be following this and expect that there will more sheriff’s signing up. I’ll do an update next week to see where we stand. According to Wiki, there are 3033 organized county governments in the U.S. We have a long way to go.

Yep, of course it would be nice if more states would follow Wyomings example. But, too many dems in office.

Here in MT our dems are throwing a screaming fit, because same day voter registration is now illegal. They have to register by end of business the previous friday. (I would have made it a lot further back though.)

Make a Tin Star badge icon and add it as a badge to the blogs. Then see who will and who won’t do the same.

    @ 4 Mars:
Someone who has to register to vote the same day as an election is a low info voter.

That’s nicer than I’d put it.

Unfortunately, our local sheriff hasn’t signed on yet.

Wolf Blitzer apparently took the same civics class as Nancy Pelosi:

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer Flunks Constitution 101, Tells Utah Sheriff That He Must Obey Obama Executive Order

Discussing gun control, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Friday told a Utah sheriff that if Barack Obama issues an executive order, that order is the law and the sheriff must obey. However, jurisprudence on this topic reveals exactly the opposite.

As the head of the executive branch of the federal government, a president can issue executive orders only to employees of the federal government—and only regarding implementing federal laws or programs. A governor can likewise issue executive orders to employees of his state government regarding the laws or programs of that state.

Every sheriff is a county officer, elected by the voters of that county. The Supreme Court held in Printz v. U.S. in 1997 that the Tenth Amendment forbids the federal government from ever ordering any state or local official to carry out a federal program. Ironically, that case also involved a sheriff—Jay Printz of Montana—and a federal gun control law.

@ 9 lobo91: Good to know, I would like to thank you for updating Wolf. More people need to know that.

In washington state, King, Shohomish, and Pierce are the large urban counties. It would be nice to see one of them on the list. Snohomish county might be the best bet.

It should be fairly obvious that the president can’t just issue orders to anyone he likes.

If he could, why would we need a legislative branch, after all?

Most gun violence (and crime) occurs in areas that vote for Democrats. Criminals want to disarm law-abiding citizens so they can’t defend themselves. Google: “felons vote democrat” for proof. This is why Democrats have long agitated for felons to enjoy full voting rights. If we want to stop gun violence: BAN DEMOCRATS FROM OWNING GUNS!

    @ Fritz Katz:
That’s a very telling graphic. Thanks for putting it up. Also, NRA chief: Public cannot ‘trust’ White House on gun control.

Obama should just have Fast and Furious thrown back in his face whenever he says “Guns”.

I also think it is important to Alinsky label the anti gun crowd as hysterical people lacking good reason and good common sense.
