Kirsten Powers: Obama used same 1960’s old cliches

KRISTENPOWERS

Our phoney god-king gave a demagogue filled State of the Union Address last night. Rather than offer a positive vision and calling for national unity, he demonized his opponents and lied. His biggest lie was that al-Qaeda is defeated and smashed, despite the fact they have seized much of Syria and recently took over a major air base in Northern Syria. The American Pharaoh then called for more government control over people’s lives. There was no new ideas in Obama’s speech, it was all Progressive talking points. That said, the media is claiming it was a historic speech and one for the ages!

Kirsten Powers is a Moderate Liberal. Although I disagree with her on some issues, she’s not far Left and actually can be reasoned with. She’s a liberal out of naivete, not maliciousness like Obama or Charles Johnson. Recently Kirsten Powers has not been towing the Progressive talking pints. She’s called out the media for Obama worship and has criticizes the demagoguery of the regime. Now she picks apart the god-king’s SOTU address last night as nothing but the same old 1960’s Leftist cliches.

If the State of the Union address Tuesday night is any indication, it appears President Obama’s chief speechwriter has been replaced by a cliché-generator circa 1960. His erstwhile oratory was a melee of cringe-inducing lines ripped straight from a sit-in.

The commander in chief waxed about children being important for our future and how we should be a country where “if you work hard and meet your responsibilities, you can get ahead.” Which we are for the most part, anyway. Also, isn’t there a rule about how many times you can use the same line in a speech? Doesn’t basic etiquette and decency prevent us from ever hearing this again: “A tax code that ensures billionaires with high-powered accountants can’t pay a lower rate than their hard-working secretaries.” Yes, we know: Warren Buffett is your friend and his secretary pays a higher tax rate that he does. Is this really the only way to demonstrate the tax code needs to be reformed?

The president has only a few opportunities to speak to the nation, and he blew this one. It was so hackish, so devoid of any theme or purpose, that it makes one wonder whether part of Obama just wants to see how bad he can be before his cultists in the news media can see it.

[….]

Contrary to the claims of both sides, Obama is not a liberal visionary with deep desires to institute a progressive agenda. If he is, he’s a miserable failure.

Kirsten Powers is spot on about Obaama’s speech and the fact he is a failure! He was neither innovative nor creative. Instead it was the same old demagogue nonsense that his adoring media loves to claim as awesome.

In a just world Obama would be a laughing stock, but we do not live in a just world. Thanks to the Media-Entertainment Industrial complex, Obama has been turned into a man-god who the majority of Americans adore despite his failures. I salute Powers for being one of the few Liberals who see through this charade. If there were more Democrats like Powers, this nation would be better off.

    God she is lovely!
Obama is one big 1960’s cliche. I suspect that he signs off on his his notes to Michelle with a big “Power to the People!”.

Kirsten Powers is one of just a few reasonable, common-sense libs out there. She’s actually more conservative than a bunch of RINOs I could name.

Kirsten Powers says the right things sometimes. I’m glad that she can see through some of the BS, but she is still a liberal. She was smart enough to not become the permanent Wiener girl, that shows there’s some hope for her.

You may believe that, but I find it hard to believe mainly because she is on the national stage and has access to too much information to maintain the naivete.

That said, I welcome any help, even on a small scale.

Good morning. When Obama talked about the decline of
Al Queda it reminded me of Baghad Bob saying that there are
    no Americans in the City.
While he was saying that, US troops were heard outside of

    —Rudyard Kipling

“For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear. For a servant when he reigneth, and a fool when he is filled with meat; for an odious woman when she is married, and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.” –—Prov. 30: 21-22-23.

    Three things make earth unquiet
    And four she cannot brook
    The godly Agur counted them
And put them in a book—
    Those Four Tremendous Curses
    With which mankind is cursed;
But a Servant when He Reigneth
    Old Agur entered first.

    An Handmaid that is Mistress
    We need not call upon.
A Fool when he is full of Meat
    Will fall asleep anon.
    An Odious Woman Married
    May bear a babe and mend;
But a Servant when He Reigneth
    Is Confusion to the end.

His feet are swift to tumult,
His hands are slow to toil,
His ears are deaf to reason,
His lips are loud in broil.
He knows no use for power
    Except to show his might.
He gives no heed to judgment
    Unless it prove him right.

    Because he served a master
    Before his Kingship came,
    And hid in all disaster
    Behind his master’s name,
    So, when his Folly opens
    The unnecessary hells,
    A Servant when He Reigneth
Throws the blame on some one else.

    His vows are lightly spoken,
His faith is hard to bind,
    His trust is easy broken,
    He fears his fellow-kind.
The nearest mob will move him
To break the pledge he gave—
Oh, a Servant when he Reigneth
    Is more than ever slave!

Sorry for the OT, but a ray of hope for those of you who are worried about your ammo stocks. I was down at the local Gander Mountain about 10 minutes before opening today, because Thursday morning is when they get their resupply. The truck had come but hadn’t been unloaded, so me and maybe 8 others stood around waiting and looking at the guns, with maybe another 5 or so following close behind us. Then they started bring in unsorted boxes of ammo. First two boxes, no luck. But in the third I found a 1000 round pack of Winchester M-22 .22 LR; 40 gr, copper-plated solids. Bingo! I briefly thought about standing my ground and fighting like a crazed Black Friday shopper over anything else that might come off the truck, but there were other nice people there hoping for a share, so I took my prize, paid up and left.

The moral of the story is that if you have a local Gander Mountain, ask one of the nice folks in the gun department when their resupply truck comes, and be there that morning. They’re having their annual sale, and they are supplying their stores with that sales stuff and as when they can. But it usually goes the day they get it.

Added to what I already have, now I can feel comfortable holding a family range day once the weather warms up a bit. That .22 LR always goes fast.

GOP pollster Neil Newhouse warned Republicans to beware of President Obama’s use of the bully pulpit this election cycle, Roll Call reports.

He also suggested they not count on the six-year itch.

Said Newhouse: “I kind of emphasized to the members that second midterm elections have never been friendly to the president. You can’t count on that. That’s not going to happen. We’ve got to realize that the House Republicans are going to be Obama’s top target.”

Dems will take back the House in 2014 since Republicans are stubborn.

    @ Carolina Girl:

That’s exactly what the Left wants.

    @ Rodan:

Yeah, those damned principles get in the way of good politics. We need to try to outbid the Democrats, then. If you think Fiscal Conservatism sells, you haven’t been paying attention.

    @ Iron Fist:

Keep dismissing parts of the country and blocks of voters. That’s really a winning formula. Not everyone who voted for Obama did so for free stuff. But if it makes Republicans feel better to explain their loss, then hey whatever floats your boat.

Republicans will get it one day, until then enjoy losing elections.

    Attack the expense accounts.
Is that a free market chicken you are eating there Mr. Reporter?
Is that a tea party waffle you are eating there Mr. Obama?
How much did you pay for it? Did you tip? Do you ever do the dishes? Why are you eating steak and wine when we abound with global warming homelessness?

It’s all about winning elections, principles, values, and morals be damned. For me, I don’t wish to become them, so I’m learning even those supposedly on my side just want me to STFU and STFD, but they don’t have purity test..oh no!

Of course not. Plenty of them did so for the usual reasons: Racism, devotion to abortion, wanting to see America torn down, hatred of traditional values, etc. The Free Shit Army just helped put them over the top.

If that’s what we have to embrace in order to “win,” I’ll pass.

If that is what we have to do, is it really a WIN?

How long before somebody like Oliver Stone gets
his hands on a script about Dorner?
You know that Hollywood will pay a homage to him.

Not in my book, but what do I know? I don’t even like rap music, so I’m obviously irrelevant.

It’s like, we will get rid of those that we agree with 85% for those we agree with 40%. I really don’t get it. They can have the republican party for all I care. I’m not one of them any longer anyway.

    @ Tanker:

We’ll get rid of the reliable votes that we have to pander to those who wouldn’t vote for us if their lives depended on it. How’s that for a plan? Like I said yesterday, what we need to be doing isn’t pandering. We need to be emulating the successful State-level GOP that is winning elections. They aren’t doing that by pretending to be hip for hipsters. They are doing t be enuncating principles and, most importantly, standing up for those principles on a State-by-State basis.

    @ Iron Fist:

Looks like they’re starting the retraining young:

Mass Elementary School Bans Valentine’s Day Cards And Candy Over “Cultural Equality Issues”…

Boys and girls at a Massachusetts elementary school have been banned from bringing Valentine’s Day candy or cards over cultural equality issues and federal guidelines regulating candy.

Parents of students at Salemwood Elementary School in Malden, Mass, received a letter informing them of the policy – that impacts not just Valentine’s Day – but all holidays.

“We have many different nationalities, cultures and languages spoken,” Principal Carol Keenan told Fox News. “Because of that we don’t honor specific holidays.”

Keenan said she did not want some students feeling left out.

“This is done with all good intentions – to have all students be accepted, to have all students feel like they belong,” she said.

Anyone think they do that in other countries (except maybe the UK, which is even further down the path to cultural self-destruction than we are)?

My frustration even with those here asking us to do it, is they don’t recognize that they have a much harder purity test for us than what we have for the CINOs.

Yeah, I’m sure we can count on them having Easter celebrations in Riyad this year, right? Because cultural diversity is a core value of Islam…

@ 86 lobo91: That leaves only Mayday that that administration wants to indoctrinate kids with. She should be petitioned to leave her job. A lot of teacher like this. Diversity terrified. Makes them not competent to be around kids. They are as bad as pedophiles.
