my ex wife would surf the thrift shops, fill a couple of big boxes, and haul them down to Jamaica every year…clothes and shoes…I bought cheap frisbees by the dozen from friend…guess who was a bigger hit?
those kids went absolutely nuts for the frisbees…the very first time I gave a couple away was to a small group of young boys playing soccer…I showed them the thing and they just stared at me, they had never seen one…so I stood back and gave a mighty thumb grip sidearm heave and it blew them away…they all hauled off chasing it and brought it back…I showed them the usual backhand toss and presto! I gave them a second one…and they just went nuts…this was near the guest house I was staying at…much later in the day, they were still at it and getting really good, but the damned thing flew into the ocean, down below the waves and coral, they chased it several properties down wind trying to find a place to retrieve it…really fine memories..I love the little kids down there…ever after, I always had to put in my order for 24 cheap gas station frisbee so I had them…I was like the Frisbee King of Jamaica and gave them away for years all over the island

Get down tonight…Saturday Night…so…
back in ’03, 250 Little Feat fans rented an all inclusive on Jamaica’s north shore…the band and some guest stars all came down for four days of music and partying…it soon became obvious (we had a digest back then) that I was the Jamaica ‘expert’…so as time goes by, all these people wanted to donate stuff and it got almost out of control…so I called a friend of mine on the other side of the island…he was a publisher from Conn, married a gal that had a cafe down there right on the ocean…he had supplied all the books for a library he had built from scratch (in Little Culloden)…in turn he set up a deal with the local post office and I had all this stuff send down there…it was like a ton of boxes from all over America..they guy had to figure out a way to distribute all this stuff and alot of it was new…”what do they need?”…clothes I’d say…so they’d run down to the store and buy $200 worth of stuff, boxed it up and mailed it,…my friend was overwhelmed, but he took care of it…he even came up to the resort and spent a couple of days, so I could show him off to all the generous fans…that was one hell of a party…rookie party animals were buying ounces of space weed for $10 from the staff and getting plowed…it was a frigging riot…those folks do that every year, but they’ve settle over in Negril…but that very first year was epic, and the Big Donation went down into Little Feat lore
And I have killed the thread….again…you guys are making me do this and you aren’t going to like it and it’s Saturday….and I’m stuck back in the 70′s for the moment….
