    Good piece on the subject:

    Does Progressivism Exist?

Can you prove that progressivism exists? We can all name some famous progressives. We know that progressivism is on the ascendancy, and that our response to the current push for a final progressive victory will largely determine the fate of humanity in the coming centuries. And yet in all of this there is a whiff of mirage — as though, if one were to come too close to the thing itself, one would suddenly recognize that the oasis (or swamp) on the horizon was just more desert all along.

Whether they be socialists, communists, fascists, or some hybrid of these, all progressives — and I mean the vanguard, the leading intellectuals and statesmen of progressivism — promote their various hopes and policies by means of the same slogan: Forward.
Forward, in practice, means, and has always meant, the same things: death to multitudes of innocents; economic collapse; spiritual degradation; widespread poverty; a drudgerous, machinelike existence for “the masses,” leavened only by mindless amusements designed to palliate the senseless waste of time that is life without genuine hope; and forced debasement in compulsory retardation and indoctrination centers (aka government schools).
The willing victims of this world-historical abuse — those not offended at being identified as the amorphous “masses” — seem truly to believe in “Forward,” in progressive “equality,” “fairness,” “rights,” and the rest of the dogma. They believe in it while they watch their material prospects dwindling, the moral framework of centuries being mocked into ridicule, the laws tightening around the most absurd minutiae of their daily lives in the name of protecting them from their own childlike ignorance, and their leaders speaking of them, “the masses,” with the utmost disdain for their wishes, their dignity, or even their very lives.
But in what, or in whom, are these willing victims actually believing? Do they even know? Christians, Jews, and Buddhists know who they are following. So do Pythagoreans, Cartesians, and Kantians. Do the victims of progressivism know who is leading them “forward” in the name of equality, fairness, and rights?

    RTR.

U.S. Senator Tim Johnson’s announcement that he’ll retire after the 2014 election just made the Democrats’ job of holding their Senate majority a lot tougher.

Johnson, 66, the Senate banking committee chairman, is the second Democrat from a state won by Republican nominee Mitt Romney last year to say he won’t seek re-election in 2014. The announcement today means his party must defend two open seats and support five other Democratic incumbents running for re- election in Republican-leaning states.

    Coyote Tale…

    CALIFORNIA:

The Governor of California is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks the Governor’s dog, then bites the Governor.

The Governor starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie “Bambi” and then realizes he should stop because the coyote is only doing what is natural.

He calls Animal Control. Animal Control captures the coyote and bills the State $200 testing it for diseases and $500 for relocating it.

He calls a veterinarian. The vet collects the dead dog and bills the State $200 testing it for diseases.

The Governor goes to hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for diseases from the coyote and on getting his bite wound bandaged.

The running trail gets shut down for 6 months while Fish & Game conducts a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is now free of dangerous animals.

The Governor spends $50,000 in state funds implementing a “coyote awareness program” for residents of the area.

The State Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world.

The Governor’s security agent is fired for not stopping the attack. The State spends $150,000 to hire and train a new agent with additional special training regarding the nature of coyotes.

PETA protests the coyote’s relocation and files a $5 million suit against the State.

    TEXAS:

The Governor of Texas is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks his dog.

The Governor shoots the coyote with his State-issued pistol and keeps jogging. The Governor has spent $0.50 on a .45 ACP hollow point cartridge.

The buzzards eat the dead coyote.

And that, my friends, is why California is broke and Texas is not.

I had a gardener trim some Live Oak tree branches overhanging our roof in California. My mistake is that three, count ‘em 3, were over 3 inches in diameter and needed a City Permit. $750.00 fine for cutting without a permit thanks to The Mother’s of the Oak Tree Society of which one of the members was my neighbor.

The part about Rick Perry shooting a coyote while jogging is true. It happened right in the Austin City Limits several years ago. The only difference is that is was a .40 S&W, not a .45 and it was Perry’s personal pistol.

I can imagine, with all that goes on in Mexico I am sure it does not stay in Mexico.

Basically, a humorless feminist “developer evangelist” got a father of 3 fired for making a joke about “dongles” at a tech conference.

Twitter shitstorm ensued. Humorless feminist “developer evangelist” loses her own job. More Twitter shitstorms ensue…

A programmer who made a “dongle” joke at a Python developers’ conference has been fired, unleashing a Twitter lynch mob. His feminist accuser has also been fired after her employer suffered a DDoS attack.

She has a history to be “offended”

  103. 106 | March 27, 2013 8:05 am

    @ Guggi:
Interesting how she got offended by the phrase “Money Shot”, I have heard that expression a lot in photography. That one shot, that great shot, that shot that will get you the pay cheque.

  104. 107 | March 27, 2013 8:11 am

    @ PaladinPhil:

She obviously watches too much porn if the first thing through her mind from “Money Shot” is pornographic. She deserved to be fired for her antics. Maybe next time she won’t go itno tthe convention with such a big chip on her shoulder. As if. She’ll probably get hired by a “feminist” think tank to be professionally offended.

  105. 108 | March 27, 2013 8:19 am

It is in the very intention of every “identity group” to be permanently offended. Feminism has replaced women’s lib, ethno-identity has replaced anti-race-discrimination and instead of bridging the cut between their opponents they dig them deeper and deeper. The result is a fragmented society which can only be ruled by dictators.

    Guggi wrote:

They see that as a feature, not a bug. Like I said yesterday, look at Detroit, and you can see first hand where the Democrats want to take the entire country. It is poverty and desolation coupled with dependency on the Government for virtually everything. That is the kind of society that the Democrats want to create. They, of course, will be in the ruling class, and they will be wealthy beyond belief. Meanwhile, the “subhuman” masses will live as semi-slaves on the Government Plantation. Without hope or oppertunity.

  109. Guggi
    112 | March 27, 2013 8:56 am

    @ Iron Fist:

The old Left dreamed and propagated the revolt of the masses, the workers and farmers. The new Left (beginning in the late 1950′s) argued that they can’t reach the masses because they are corrupted by better wages, social security, healthcare etc. and therefore they propagated the “elite rule” which means that the social “elites” have to tell and to educate the “corrupted and stupid” masses what is good for them. Pol Pot is one of the worst examples of this “thinking”.
