Set A Course! OOT

Before I open up The Overnight Open Thread, allow me to express the following:
DISCLAIMER: No Flame War is intended. No currency units will be exchanged.
Here is one of the most intriguing science fiction comparison pages I’ve encountered:

It’s amusing at times how fans of various science fiction series continue to compare their ships to those of other universes (Hey, I plead Guilty, Your Honor!), especially when it comes to weaponry. Toss those guns aside, and the discussion becomes quite interesting when it concerns travel from Point A to Point B:

It’s a little odd that a genre about science, the field of precision, can be so imprecise. The truth is that spaceships almost always fly at the speed of the plot. But, for those who refuse to accept that, this is a definitive guide to ship speeds, based on highly scientific computer simulations and highly unscientific speculation.

Go to Set A Course! to run the other races. And Engage! Or is that Jump!

That’s a totally incorrect travel time for the TARDIS. Any Whovian would know that it’s possible for the TARDIS to leave today and arrive at its target destination LAST WEEK.

When I lived in Palo Alto the city bought some “street furniture” from the French company J.C. DeCaux.
One of them was a coin operated self cleaning toilet called a “Sanisette” that was set up near a parking lot. Because it reminded me of Dr. Who’s phone box, I referred to it as the TURDIS.

    Slow night.

I’m sitting in my theater watching videos from Houston.

I think I’m going to start showing Chris Cox’s speech to my classes.

    @ The Osprey:

Wouldn’t it be funnier than shit if the TARDIS’ chameleon circuitry malfunctioned again to materialize it into said Sanisette?

So to get rich like Google you need to support socialism and evade taxes

  20. 20 | May 19, 2013 8:16 am

    @ waldensianspirit:

It is just like Warren Buffet. It is easy to call for higher taxes when you are already evading the ones that exist. You know you won’t pay the higher taxes. Taxes are for the little people to pay…

Good Morning. The Chicago Tribune is in full
damage control mode for Obama todsy.
Eric Zorn is a partiularly annoying twit.
He writes about Benghai, the IRS & the AP issues.
He bigins this way, “If it makes me a media lackey,
or tailwaging lap dog for President Barack Obama……….”
Then of course his column goes into Lackey, lap dog
    mode.

If he left it at that.
He goes on to try to prove what a superior intellect
he is to discern that Obama is not involved in any
of it & that anyone who thinks so is a dimwit.

WASHINGTON — Senior Treasury officials were made aware in June 2012 that investigators were looking into complaints from tea party groups that they were being harassed by the Internal Revenue Service, a Treasury inspector general said, disclosing that Obama administration officials knew there was a probe during the heat of the presidential campaign.

And nobody mentioned this to Obama? Riiiiiiiight.

  25. 26 | May 19, 2013 10:08 am

    @ RIX:
Yeah I consider the Left’s constant attempts to say how intellectually superior they are to be a sign of weak self- esteem. People who are really intellectually superior don’t usually go around talking about what geniuses they are. They let their accomplishments speak for themselves. Leftists are like Obama. They don’t have the accomplishments to show for themselves.

Absolutely. If ya got it, ya don’t
    have to talk about it.

I wonder how many “Islamic-based” 501c4′s were investigated?

  29. 30 | May 19, 2013 11:20 am

    @ Bumr50:
I’m sure that the answer to that is “none”. That would be like the FBI taking it serious when the Russians warned us about Tamerlan Tsarnaev. That just isn’t going to happen in the Obama Administration. Muslims are sacrosanct. They must not be offended.

True, they are told that “You are the future leaders”
Then upon graduation they can’t understand why
things don’t just fall into their laps.
To compensate , they go with “I’m so smart.

I heard a tax lawyer on the radio who handles
    501 C filings.
He said that he never saw Muslim organization
denied & in fact they sailed through.

You know that if Muslim groups had gotten any static like this CAIR would already be on TV bitching. Muslim groups have had no problems, nor would they under Obama. The IRS was targeting enemies of the Regiem. That is clear.

There is no way in the world that Obama was not aware.
He probably approved it through Axlerod or Jarret.

    @ RIX:

Yeah, I think he had to know. It is like who gave the orders to the military to stand down in Benghazi. Mid-level bureaucrats just don’t have that kind of authority, nor are they going to take that much responsibility on their own inititive. But Obama no doubt gave the order through a trusted aid here. He wouldn’t have gotten his hands personally dirty with this.

Yup, he wanted plausible deniability through a degree
    of separation.
The alternative would be that he is a detached,
