Good news indeed! Newly elected Australian PM Tony Abbott was sworn in yesterday. One of his first acts was the closing of the Climate Commission, the agency responsible for administering Julia Gillard’s (the PM that Abbott recently defeated) carbon tax. By the way, Gillard’s tax on carbon emissions is similar to the emissions tax  imposed on the coal industry by Obama’s EPA. That tax was Obama’s way of side-stepping Congress’ rejection of Cap and Trade.

Tony Abbott was sworn in yesterday. Today Greg Hunt rang Tim Flannery to tell him the commission is closed. His $180,000 3-day-a-week job as a sales agent for “climate change” is over.

BREAKING (ABC):  The Abbott Government has abolished the Climate Commission, pushing ahead with its plan to scrap government bodies associated with Labor’s carbon pricing scheme and climate change policy.

The commission was set up under then prime minister Julia Gillard in February 2011 as an independent body “to provide reliable and authoritative” information on climate change.

Jo Nova applauds the Abbott government decision to cut waste and to stop funding an inept unscientific agency which was unbalanced to the point of being government advertising in disguise.  Today is a great day for taxpayers. This agency propped up billions of dollars in pointless futile government spending trying to change the weather. Nothing will bring back money spent on desal plants that were mothballed when the floods came that real scientists predicted. Likewise the money burned on solar panels and windfarms is gone for good too, and still going.

That is good to see, but not very surprising. All the Climate Change Hoax is really about is getting the Americans to comitt economic suicide. When Bush repudiated Kyoto, everybody dropped out of it, including the Japanese. We need to first get people to understand that the Anthrogenic Global Warming scam was a hoax. They are teaching this shit to kids in school like it was gospel. Actually, like it was more than gosple. They wouldn’t allow the schools to teach the actual gopel.

    @ Iron Fist:
The fraud is about to be totally exposed. The 7 year IPCC report will come out on 9/27. That report, which has already been leaked, essentially acknowledges that the IPCC forecasts for the past 17 were grossly exagerated. Also, a group of real scientists, the NIPCC, has just published a report that challenges every assertion made by the warm-mongers.

On Tuesday, a group of 50 international scientists released a comprehensive new report on the science of climate change that concluded that evidence now leans against global warming resulting from human-related greenhouse gas emissions.
The report, which cites thousands of peer-reviewed articles the United Nations-sponsored panel on climate change ignored, also found that “no empirical evidence exists to substantiate the claim that 2°C of warming presents a threat to planetary ecologies or environments” and no convincing case can be made that “a warming will be more economically costly than an equivalent cooling.” The U.N.’s panel is scheduled to release its next report next month.
The Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change, or NIPCC, which produced the report, is described as “an international panel of scientists and scholars who came together to understand the causes and consequences of climate change.” Unlike the “United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which is government-sponsored, politically motivated, and predisposed to believing that climate change is a problem in need of a U.N. solution,” NIPCC “has no formal attachment to or sponsorship from any government or governmental agency” and is “wholly independent of political pressures and influences and therefore is not predisposed to produce politically motivated conclusions or policy recommendations.”
In Climate Change Reconsidered II: Physical Science, which The Heartland Institute published and released on Tuesday, lead authors Craig D. Idso, Robert M. Carter, and S. Fred Singer worked with a team of scientists to produce a 1,200-page report that is “comprehensive, objective, and faithful to the scientific method.” They found that even “if the concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide were to double,” whatever “warming may occur would likely be modest and cause no net harm to the global environment or to human well-being.”

    @ huckfunn:

This is good to see. All of that “the science is settled” bullshit was really the Global Warming Hoax people attempting to prop up their hoax. Anyone who knows anything about science knows that future experiments may falsify what had been the scientific understanding to date. Science is never really settled. These people have a religious conviction that Western Civilization is bad, and therefore anything that collapses Western Civilization is good. It has never been about the science of Global Warming, but about the secular religion of the Left.

A politician who actually keeps a promise to cut a useless government department? That’s a strange way to do business. :)
