Many people set goals for themselves that revolve around their health, and these are definitely worthwhile goals to have. You only get one body, and it’s important to take care of it! The following is a list of eight fitness tips for improving your health this year.

1. Exercise with a buddy

If you find that motivation is a problem for you, try exercising with a friend or a loved one. They will help hold you accountable, and you will help hold them accountable.

2. Keep a schedule

If you say that you want to improve your health but don’t have specific tasks in mind, it’s unlikely that you will fulfill your ultimate goal. To help in this area, set up a fitness schedule that works for you and follow it.

3. Set small goals

Again, having a large goal in mind is a start, but you need to figure out the practical steps to getting there. Small goals that are attainable are the perfect stepping stones for reaching your ultimate aims.

For example, if you want to improve your cardiovascular health by running, start by trying to take a walk around the block every day for a month before moving on to jogging around the block. Finally, try actively running around the block and then set the goal of running a few miles.

4. Keep track of your success

Make sure that you have a calendar or a chart where you can track your progress. This will help motivate you as you move towards your ultimate fitness goals. After all, it feels pretty amazing to strike off a workout each day.

5. Join a gym or take a fitness class

Again, if you are challenged by staying motivated, joining a gym that you need to pay for each month or taking a class that requires your consistent attendance may be great ideas. Likewise, you’ll be able to meet people who share your interests and possibly broaden your fitness horizons.

6. Change up your workouts

Your body has an amazing ability to adapt to any challenge that you present it with. In order to stay on top of your fitness, make sure that you change up your work out every at least once a month.

7. Don’t forget to stretch

Stretching before and after your workouts helps to loosen your muscles and make them more limber. The best way to stretch before a workout is to do a short warm up first and then slowly ease into stretching.

8. Stay positive

Finally, it’s important to keep an upbeat attitude. You’re not going to hit every single one of your fitness goals every time, but do your best, and focus on staying positive and encouraging yourself.
