This is a must-read by Michael Ledeen about Iranian clicks and the nuclear timeline.

However, before you click there, please read this below about a counter-protest by the Waldorf Astoria tomorrow. I hope you can make it!

NCYI JOINS OTHERS IN URGENT CALL TO MOBILIZE IN MANHATTAN MARCH 9:

URGENT COUNTER-PROTEST ,
TUESDAY, MARCH 9, 5-7 P.M.
TO ALL THOSE WHO CARE ABOUT ISRAEL –
IT IS URGENT THAT YOU ATTEND THE COUNTER-PROTEST RALLY.

from Americans for a Safe Israel
Across from the WALDORF ASTORIA – PARK AVENUE, between 49th & 50th , NYC

On Tuesday, March 9, The Friends of the IDF is having their annual dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in NYC. We have learned that there will be an Arab demonstration outside the hotel, defaming the IDF and Gabi Ashkenazi, the Chief of the IDF General Staff.

We will be handing out information, holding signs, Israeli and American flags, and alerting the public as to the true nature of Fatah, Hamas and the PA. The Hamas terrorist acts against Christians and Fatah, the use of women and children as human shields, the firing of rockets from mosques, homes, and schools in order to deter IDF retaliation, the misinformation and hatred being fed to Arab children in their classrooms and through PA media, will all be detailed.

We’ll be highlighting the IDF and Israeli assistance to the Arabs in the fields of medical care, education, and providing a standard of living for Arab Israelis that is the highest in the Middle East. In addition, in opposition to the recent “apartheid” claims against Israel, the Israeli Arabs enjoy full democratic rights in the Knesset , in their religious observances, and in the media.

A number of grass roots activist groups have come together to counter-protest on that evening. They include Americans For a Safe Israel/AFSI, Get Out The Facts, Human Rights Coalition Against Radical Islam, National Council of Young Israel, Shalom International, Stand With Us, World Committee for the Land of Israel, Zionist Organization of America/ZOA . Individuals such as Assemblyman Dov Hikind, Lori Lowenthal Marcus, and Andy Upton are also working with us. Others continue to join. PLEASE BE THERE WITH US – MARCH 9, 5-7 P.M.

As far as the Ledeen goes, please click through and read his whole article, which is very well-written. But here is the choice “money quote”:

As for the other clock, the one ticking off the lifespan of the Islamic Republic, the mullahs continue their murderous and sadistic campaign against the citizens of Iran, and the citizens search for new ways to show their contempt.  The regime relentlessly arrests dissidents and accuses them of actions that only a fanatical regime in crisis could concoct.  For example, they went after Mohammed Maliki, 76 yrs old, the first chancellor of Tehran U after the Revolution, and arrested him during treatment for prostate cancer.  Maliki said to his captors [3], “I was afraid you would let me die in my bed,” and has refused to “repent” or confess.  He’s accused of being a Mohareb, one who fights against God.  They execute such men in Iran nowadays for criticizing the regime.  I honor them, and wish my leaders would do the same, instead of pretending to have a serious Iran policy.

While we’re at it, let’s honor Omid Montazeri [4].  His father was one of the victims of the mass murder of political prisoners in 1988.  Omid is a blogger, journalist and a final year law student at Allameh University.  His articles on cultural issues have been published by many official newspapers.  His mother was arrested shortly after Christmas, and Omid went to the Intelligence Ministry to inquire about her, whereupon he was thrown into the hellhole, “tried” without access to a lawyer, and condemned to six years.

And let’s honor the Kurds, victims of mass brutality [5] in which the Turks and the Syrians are surely complicit, and about which the usual Western accomplices to evil are typically silent.

Some of those pious people who bleed oceans of ink for the sweet “victims of Guantanamo” would be more convincing if they could spare a few harsh words for the monsters who govern Iran, and who seek our death and destruction.

Indeed. There are so many “outrage monkeys” out there, but where is the outrage at the real horrors going on around the world? Sadly, it is lacking. Why is it that ‘feminists’ and ‘gay activists’ have been so silent vis a vis Iran? Why, the ‘Columbia Queer Alliance’ [at Columbia University] even claimed that Ahmadinejad’s claim that there are ‘no gays in Iran’ was an excuse to ‘reelevaluate sexuality!’

We live in a topsy turvy world, where the good is demonized. Please come out tomorrow and support the good, outside the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.

English Defence League, London-5th of March

English Defence League marches today to support Geert Wilders (who very well might be the next PM of the Netherlands!) and free speech.  Geert Wilders is facing prosecution in Holland for “inciting hatred” with the controversial film, Fitna,  that focuses on the links between Islam and terrorism, he is showing his film and giving a speech at Parliament.

The EDL will meet at 1300GMT (that’s 0900EST here in the USA) and march to the Houses of Parliament.  The EDL plans on having live feeds and running commentary throughout the march.  There will be counter-protesters on the route such as the leftist group UAF (who appear to be funded by the Unite Union, UK’s largest trade union and the Labour government, read: Progressives), The Socialist Workers Party SWP , and of course, there will be the seething muslims! Rhetorical question everyone: why would Labour party, Commies, Useful Idiots, and seething muslims all be united against British Patriots?

Click for Live feed from EDLMedia

On Friday March 5th 2010, Geert Wilders will show his film ‘Fitna’ in the House of Lords as part of an information gathering exercise on the Islamisation of this nation.

Agree or disagree with Geert Wilders, the fact remains that he is a democratically elected member of a fine democracy and should be welcome on these or any other shores.

After threats of 10,000 muslims on the streets’ by the so-called ‘Lord’ Achmed last time Geert came to show his video, the spineless Home Secretary summarily banned his entry into the UK.   He has since been allowed in briefly, welcomed by crowds of radical Islamists calling for him to be butchered along with the entire population of jews.

Not one arrest was made with these inciteful to violence calls.  Not one.

Come March 5th, Geert Wilders will be there.

The Radical Islamists will be there.

EDL will be there.

We the English Defence League are a grass roots social movement who represent every walk of life, every race, every creed and every colour from the working class to middle England our unity and diversity is our strength. We have members that represent our rich and cultural “patriotic” nation loving populace who can see the threat of “Islamism” for what it is, that is a vile and virulent ideology based off of 7th century barbarity, intolerance, hatred, subjugation and war.

English Defence League members recognise this threat as one that must be stopped at all costs, our Christian, Jewish, Sikh, and Hindu friends all have tales to tell with regard to Islamic Imperialism and “Orthodox Teachings”, in particular the Wahhabi/Salafi doctrine of “killing unbelievers if they refuse to be subdued by Islam” as the Quran points out in surah 5 verse 33…….

8.3-magnitude earthquake hits Chile

Good morning Blogmocracy Netizens! I have some sad news to report today.

A massive earthquake has struck Southern Chile today. As of the time of this writing no information on damage or casualites have been reported. My prayers and hopes go out to the Chilean people. Please post updates on this thread since this is breaking news. Fox has reported collapsed.

SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) – An 8.3-magnitude earthquake struck southern Chile early Saturday, the U.S. Geological Surveytsunami warning was issued. reported. A

The quake hit 197 miles (317 kilometers) southwest of the capital, Santiago, and at a depth of 36.9 miles (59.4 kilometers) at 3:34 a.m. (0634 GMT; 1:34 a.m. EST).

Read it all.

Update: There are now reports of  tsunami waves hitting Chile and other nations.

Numerous tsunami waves have been reported in the Pacific, with one reaching as high as 7.7 feet in the central Chile coastal town of Talcahuano, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

Hawaii is under a tsunami warning.

Island Libertarian, if you are around, let us know what’s going on out there.

Update II: Here is a recent update on the damage and casualties.

TALCA, Chile – A devastating earthquake struck Chile early Saturday, toppling homes, collapsing bridges and plunging trucks into the fractured earth. A tsunami set off by the magnitude-8.8 quake threatened every nation around the Pacific Ocean — roughly a quarter of the globe.

President-elect Sebastian Pinera said more than 120 people died, but the death toll was rising quickly.

In the town of Talca, just 65 miles (105 kilometers) from the epicenter, Associated Press journalist Roberto Candia said it felt as if a giant had grabbed him and shaken him.

The town’s historic center, filled with buildings of adobe mud and straw, largely collapsed, though most of those were businesses that were not inhabited during the 3:34 a.m. (1:34 a.m. EST, 0634 GMT) quake. Neighbors pulled at least five people from the rubble while emergency workers, themselves disoriented, asked for information from reporters.

Many roads were destroyed, and electricity, water and phone lines were cut to many areas — meaning there was no word of death or damage from many outlying areas.

December home sales down nearly 17 percent:

Home sales plunge nearly 17 percent in December after tax credit deadline extended

Down 17%. Isn’t that newsworthy? Why did I have to go to the puppyblender’s (Instapundit) to get the link? Why is the only commentary we are seeing about that on blogs like this one? 17% is huge. It is a continuing of the collapse that the Spender in Chief, Barack Hussein Obama assured us was over. Why isn’t this headline news all over the Country?

BHO is not too big to fail. Unfortunately, he is failing as we watch. It isn’t just Massachusetts. He is failing everywhere, in every way. Up next: stagflation. Count on it.

And this is an open thread. Discuss the woes of the Universe to your discontent…

Haiti’s true curse

by Speranza ( 154 Comments › )
Filed under Uncategorized at January 20th, 2010 - 3:00 pm

Haiti  is plagued by a culture of poverty. There are some parallels between the Haitian culture of poverty and the culture of welfare dependency which can be seen in so many of our inner cities in America.  The Katrina debacle in New Orleans is a prime example of generations of Americans addicted to poverty and to government welfare – so when a natural disaster strikes, the people are powerless waiting for outsiders (particularly the government) to come save them. Individual initiative is a foreign concept to those who depend on a higher authority to take care of their needs.  Haiti shares an island with the Dominican Republic and the contrasts between those two nations are striking.  Although there is poverty in the Dominican republic, there is also a growing middle class in that nation (which at one point it seemed as if their greatest exports was shortstops to the major leagues)!.

by Jonah Goldberg

The images from Haiti are, if anything, only getting worse. What was left of an already fragile society is starting to break down, as violence and chaos take over. Despite the heroic efforts of aid workers and the battered Haitian government, it looks as if Haiti’s problems will persist well into the 21st century, long after the debris is cleared and the houses are rebuilt.

While the scope of the tragedy in Haiti is nearly impossible to exaggerate, it’s important to remember that last week’s earthquake was so deadly because Haiti is Haiti.

————————————-

It’s hardly news that poverty makes people vulnerable to the full arsenal of Mother Nature’s fury. The closer you are to living in a state of nature, the crueler nature will be — which is one reason why people who romanticize tribal or pre-capitalist life (that would be you, James Cameron) tend to do so from a safe, air-conditioned distance and with easy access to flushing toilets, antibiotics, dentistry and Chinese takeout.

The sad truth about Haiti isn’t simply that it is poor, but that it has a poverty culture. Yes, it has had awful luck. Absolutely, it has been exploited, abused and betrayed ever since its days as a slave colony. So, if it alleviates Western guilt to say that Haiti’s poverty stems entirely from a legacy of racism and colonialism, fine. But Haiti has been independent and the poorest country in the hemisphere for a long time.

Even if blame lies everywhere except among the victims themselves, it doesn’t change the fact that Haiti will never get out of grinding poverty until it abandons much of its culture.

————————————-

Arnold Kling and Nick Schulz note in their phenomenal new book, “From Poverty to Prosperity,” that low-skilled Mexican laborers become 10 to 20 times more productive simply by crossing the border into the United States. William Lewis, former director of the McKinsey Global Institute, found that illiterate, non-English-speaking Mexican agricultural laborers in the US were four times more productive than the same sorts of laborers in Brazil.

————————————-

Why? Because American culture not only expects hard work, but teaches the unskilled how to work hard.

It’s true that Haiti has few natural resources, but neither do Japan or Switzerland. What those countries do have are what Kling and Schulz call valuable “intangible assets” — the skills, rules, laws, education, knowledge, customs, expectation, etc. — that drives a prosperous society to generate prosperity.

Blatantly Anti-Semitic Exchange on C-Span

by Speranza ( 189 Comments › )

Michael Scheuer who  with no  interruption  from the host (can you imagine the uproar if someone on C-Span made anti Black statements?), was  in charge of the CIA’s get Bin Laden unit (great job on that front Scheuer!), is a long time anti Semitic  loon conspiracy theorist.  Here he vents his Jew hatred on C-Span with the encouragement of the inevitable Jew hating callers. A message for Scheuer –  if the Jews really controlled this country do you think they would allow a vile puss bag like yourself to take another breath on this Earth?   Besides Scheuer, there has been a slew of Jew hating former CIA operatives, such as Ray McGovern (who is another one of those ”Jews control America” conspiracy loons, no wonder that agency sucks!) who probably  have hopes of cushy Saudi funded jobs when they leave the company!

hat tip Weasel Zippers

by Nissan Ratzlav-Katz

A caller on a C-Span interview program Monday complained about “all these Jews” having “way too much power” in America and pushing the U.S. into wars with the Muslim world. He found his comments echoed and expanded upon by the studio guest.

Michael Scheuer, the former director of a CIA unit assigned to track down Osama Bin-Laden, calmly expressed the view that American soldiers are now dying in Iraq for the sake of Israelis. He further claimed that any debate of American support for Israel is squelched in the public sphere.

The interviewer for C-Span’s Washington Journal program did not react to the blatantly anti-Semitic exchange. Several other callers praised Scheuer for his position regarding Israel, adding their own condemnation of the Jewish State and its supporters.

An excerpt of the initial discussion follows:

John (on the phone from Franklin, New York): “Good morning. I, for one, am sick and tired of all these Jews coming on C-Span and other stations and pushing us to go to war against our Muslim friends. They’re willing to spend the last drop of American blood and treasure to get their way in the world. They have way too much power in this country. People like Wolfowitz and Feith and the other neo-cons – that Jewed us into Iraq – and now we’re going to spend the next 60 years rehabilitating our soldiers. I’m sick and tired of it.”

C-SPAN host (to Scheuer): “Any comments?”

Scheuer: “Yeah. I think that of course American foreign policy is eventually up to the American people. One of the big things we have not been able to discuss for the past 30 years is our policy towards the Israelis. Whether we want to be involved in fighting Israel’s wars in the future is something that Americans should be able to talk about. They may vote yes. They may want to see their kids killed in Iraq or Yemen or somewhere else to protect Israel. But the question is: we need to talk about it. Ultimately, Israel is a country that is of no particular worth to the United States.”

——————————————————————–

Scheuer went on to claim that he lost a job with the Jamestown Foundation think tank for saying that then-presidential candidate Barack Obama was “doing what I call the Tel-Aviv Two Step”. As a result, he claimed, “the donors to that foundation” ordered that he be terminated. He concluded the discussion of Jewish political influence by saying, “You know, you always talk about the Israel Lobby and its power, but to see it up close and personal aimed right at me was very educational. In fact, it was worth the experience of losing a job.”

Democrats Against Democracy

by Iron Fist ( 140 Comments › )
Filed under Uncategorized at January 9th, 2010 - 12:30 pm

I find this very disturbing:

Today Paul Kirk told the State House News Service that he would continue to serve in the United States Senate until the health care vote is taken if Scott Brown wins the election.

“Absolutely,” Kirk said, when asked if he’d vote for the bill, even if Brown captures the seat. “It would be my responsibility as United States Senator, representing the people and understanding Senator Kennedy’s agenda and the rest of it … I think you’re asking me a hypothetical question but I’d be pleased to vote for the bill.”

Think about that for a minute. They are going to have an election on January 19th, and if the Democrats win, they simply won’t honor it until after the important vote on the most important issue facing the country has been cast. Whoa, boy, that is going somewhere we don’t want to go. If the Republicans even considered such a thing there would be riots. There should< be riots, or at least protests. This is so antithetical to the whole philosophy of elected representation that it is almost unbelievable that they would even consider going here. What happened to “Elections have consequences”?

Fortunately, it is not too late to do something about this. If you live in Massachusetts, Republican or Democrat you should scream about this. This is a defying of popular sovereignty that must not be allowed to stand.

Outside of Massachusetts I am not sure what we can do to stop this insane action. The battle-lines are drawn up and are pretty solid. That is why the Democrats are willing to gamble on a risky scheme like this. Their bet is that the GOP will simply swallow it, the way they have swallowed so much provocation in the past. One thing is sure: the totalitarian leanings of the Democrat Party are coming through, and are visible to any who are willing to see.

Is International Policy On Jewish Presence In Judea & Samaria Racial Segregation?

It seems that the more you live, the more you realize that there is nothing new under the sun. This is ever so true with the canary-in-the-coal mine of the Jewish people, and their representative on the international stage; Israel. The amount of hypocrisy, and downright injustice of the American policy (especially recently) regarding the post-1967 Jewish communities of Judea and Samaria continues to be on display to the World, and yet they continue to choose the status quo of ignorant blindness.

While the entire world, lead by our President Obama is up in arms over “illegal building” in Judea and Samaria, -even going as far as to state that it is the number one problem stumbling block regarding “Middle East” peace, they are purposefully blind to the fact that Arab/Muslim illegal building continues at a remarkable pace.

No Inspectors to Enforce Illegal Building by Arabs

Although the issue of Jewish life in Judea & Samaria is often discussed, and debated among the talking heads throughout the world, none (or at least very few) are aware or willing to admit or discuss the horrible inequality, and injustice to the present “accepted norms” with this situation.

This is surprising however as what is going on regarding the treatment of the Jews in Judea & Samaria is very familiar to the World, and especially Americans. As some have argued, the continuing double standard, and willful blindness to the violations by the Muslim/Arabs within the world and specifically Judea and Samaria and the World’s “accepted norms” regarding their final solution is in actuality nothing short than an actual Apartheid policy and the implementation of racial segregation laws against he Jewish people reminiscent to the “separate but equal”, and other famous former Civil Rights problems within the United States.

Settlement freeze is like racial segregation in U.S. (from Haaretz if you can believe it!)

Once upon a time there was a black woman; her name was Rosa Parks. There were racially discriminating laws in the United States, but she continued to sit on the bus even when she was told to vacate her seat for a white person. She was arrested, which set off a process whose end saw the abolition of racial segregation on American buses. How is it possible that one little black woman, a dressmaker by profession, could change history simply because she remained sitting? Her protest was stronger than any demonstration, op-ed piece or Knesset vote. She opted for the natural choice; that is why she was triumphant.

My family and friends were outlawed. Why? Because we are building in the Land of Israel. After all the permits and approvals, in recognized and orderly settlements in which a third generation has already been raised, we woke up one morning to the humming of drones in the sky, taking pictures of us and the situation on the ground. It is forbidden to build. Not even a storeroom. Not a kennel. In certain places, it is even forbidden to add an air conditioner.

The freeze is an edict that the public cannot tolerate. It is not democratic, nor is it humane… But at its foundation, either intentionally or by accident, is pure and basic apartheid – it is forbidden for Jews to live in certain places. It is forbidden to build. It is forbidden to develop.

This author, although admittedly not eloquent, is right as these rules apply ONLY to Jews, and the excuses by the world for such treatment, and their excuses are not much different than when the U.S. claimed “separate but equal”. Then, as is the case as well now, the situation and laws applied are anything but “equal”, and as a result of the inherent injustice with the application of the laws the “separate” part only applies to the Muslim/Arab neighborhoods, as the Jews are forced to allow Muslim/Arab building, and inclusion, where the Muslim/Arab ones aren’t. A great example of this was the 2005 Expulsion of everything Jews in Gaza without any requirements or demands on the Muslim/Arabs within Israel, or within Gaza. This horrible segregation and double standard is still present today in the complete silence about the nearly complete Islamification of Gaza by the Islamist Hamas. The international communities policy on Israel is that it force Jews living in Judea & Samaria (and then, Gaza) to halt life, be stripped of all their rights, and be expelled yet they are completely silent regarding the Arab/Muslim populations within Israel or within Judea & Samaria. Similar to pre-Civil Rights America, the policies are directed at curtailing the existence of one racial group at the preference of another. In the U.S., the Black communities rights were curtailed while the Whites were given free reign.

In the context of Islamist doctrine (Sharia Law), the Caliphate, and dhimmihood, none of this really is surprising. As the Koran instructs, the Muslims are to have the superior (white/Muslim) role in society, and the infidel/dhimmi (Black/Jew) the inferior. The double standard and racial segregation methods of the presently used “peace process” where Muslims can live where ever they wish, build whatever they wish, and practice their religion openly and freely, but the Jews of Judea & Samaria cannot, only bolsters this understanding.

Further bolstering the argument that what we see today against the Jews of Judea & Samaria is nothing less than racial segregation are the stats as provided by the CIA Fact Book regarding the population of Gaza, Judea & Samaria, and Israel where Israel has a large minority of cultures, religions, ethnicities, and languages while Gaza and Judea & Samaria are nearly 100% “palestinian arab” and “Muslim” only.

There is a bit of irony to the fact that our President, raised in a Black Liberation Church, and who happens to identify with his Black heritage would be the leader of the new international Klan which has at its core -consciously or unconsciously – policies of racial segregation and our generations own “separate but equal” treatment but on an international scale.

God bless us, every one!

American Public sours on Progressives

The Democrat Party which currently is under control of the Tranzi Totalitarian Progressives was swept into power in 2006 and 2008. They launched a non stop Alinsky style assault on The Republicans. Bush didn’t respond and they destroyed his presidency. Barack Hussein Obama faced off against John McCain, who also didn’t fight back. He won big last year and even pulled in some Red States. There was talk of realignment, however the talk was just hyped up. The American public have now turned on the Democrats and their Progressive agenda.

D-no-democrats

WASHINGTON — Less than a year after Inauguration Day, support for the Democratic Party continues to slump, amid a difficult economy and a wave of public discontent, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.

The findings underscored how dramatically the political landscape has changed during the Obama administration’s first year. In January, despite the recession and financial crisis, voters expressed optimism about the future, the new president enjoyed soaring approval ratings, and congressional leaders promised to swiftly pass his ambitious agenda.
