Van Jones Said He is Part of “Global Struggle Against U.S.”

More news on Van Jones’ sordid past comes to light, this time from VerumSerum,

At the risk of piling on, I made a discovery of my own related to Jones’ past. As has been detailed elsewhere, Jones was the founder and long-time executive director of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights. One of the Center’s projects that Jones was involved in has been little noted or discussed at this stage: a record label sponsored by the Center called Freedom Fighter Music. The label appears to have been created in the 2002-3 timeframe, and to have fizzled out by 2005-6. And apparently, Freedom Fighter only produced 2 or 3 albums.

However, one of these albums was an anti-Iraq-war compilation album that caught my attention because it was narrated by Mumia Abu Jamal, a Black Panther Party activist who is on death row for murdering a Philadelphia police officer in 1981. One of the controversies over Jones this week has been his prior statements and activity in support of Jamal.

I managed to track down an MP3 of the full album entitled WarTimes: Reports from the Opposition. And lo and behold, not only did Jones run the organization which sponsored the creation of this album, but he is also featured on the album itself. I created a highlight clip featuring Mumia Abu Jamal and some of the more outrageous song lyrics (NSFW WARNING: EXPLICIT LANGUAGE). The clip featuring the short interview with Jones begins at about 3:45…but the whole clip is worth a listen, IMO.

Click the link to find the YouTube portal and listen to the interview with Van Jones, that begins around 3:45.  The money quote begins at around 4:40,

“We see violence against poor people and poor people of color within the U.S. border, at the U.S. border, and beyond the U.S. border and you see U.S. tax dollars funding all of it. And so we have this now global struggle against the U.S. led security apparatus and military agenda that impacts people here and impacts people around the world and I think that we need to see our problems as linked.”

So as to head off the inevitable argument from the Van Jones apologists that he doesn’t have anything to do with Freedom Fighter Music, please note that Jones claims it as his own in a 2003 interview he gave to USA Weekend, an adjunct of USA Today,

Marable: That’s right. Every generation must find its own voice and use culture in creative ways to speak to the new realities. In the 1960s you had the Freedom Singers of SNCC. You had [anthemic] songs such as “We Shall Overcome”, and now the 21st-century hip-hop generation increasingly uses the most progressive currents as a way of interrogating and challenging the prison-industrial complex, and structural racism, discrimination based on gender, race, class, sexual orientation. [I understand you have] developed a record label, Freedom Fighter Music.

Jones: Yes, we’ve had one for a little more than a year. Our second CD is coming out this year.

So we now have a “Green Job Czar”, completely unaccountable to the normal, constitutional processes of the rule of law in this country, who actively seeks to undermine law and order in this country, and who sides with anybody who is “struggling” against the “U.S. led security apparatus and military agenda”?  Wonderful.  But not surprising.  Van Jones also sided with al-Qaeda back in 1998 when Bill Clinton launched that attack on the Sudanese aspirin factory, speaking out against American militarism against People of ColourTM at one of several rallies that sprinkled the Bay Area after that cruise missile response,

This is using dead Third World bodies to cover up his own unzipped pants,” declared Van Jones, director of Bay Area PoliceWatch, an organization that until now has focused on alleged misconduct by law enforcement officers. Jones spoke at a demonstration at Powell and Market streets in San Francisco that drew 400 people, according to police estimates.

The theme that Clinton took military action to distract public attention from the Monica Lewinsky affair was highlighted in a protester’s sign in Palo Alto that read, “Don’t let a wartime incursion be Clinton’s diversion.”’

[snip]

There was scant mention in any of the demonstrations about the events that precipitated Clinton’s action: the terrorist bombs that exploded at the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania on August 7 that killed 251 Africans and 12 Americans.”

Incidentally, isn’t it sad when the San Francisco Chronicle is more pro-American than you are?

Another Anti American Article

by Rodan ( 11 Comments › )
Filed under Leftist-Islamic Alliance, Liberal Fascism, Multiculturalism, Political Correctness at April 30th, 2009 - 7:15 am

This clown Andrew  Bacevich does some historical revisions. He gives the Soviets credit for WWII and ending the cold war. He then goes on to blame America for ever evil in the world.

Farewell to the American Century

Thank you, comrades

So goes the preferred narrative of the American Century, as recounted by its celebrants.

The problems with this account are twofold. First, it claims for the United States excessive credit. Second, it excludes, ignores or trivializes matters at odds with the triumphal story line.

The net effect is to perpetuate an array of illusions that, whatever their value in prior decades, have long since outlived their usefulness. In short, the persistence of this self-congratulatory account deprives Americans of self-awareness, hindering our efforts to navigate the treacherous waters in which the country finds itself at present. Bluntly, we are perpetuating a mythic version of the past that never even approximated reality and today has become downright malignant. Although Richard Cohen may be right in declaring the American Century over, the American people — and especially the American political class — still remain in its thrall.

This is the Leftist mindset. They see America as evil and to blame for everything. This explains the Leftist-Islamic alliance. They view Islam as a liberation movement. With Americans like this, who needs enemies.

The Futility of Obama’s outreach

by Rodan ( 9 Comments › )
Filed under Barack Obama, Middle East at February 3rd, 2009 - 4:39 pm

I agree with this article. Obama’s appeal to the Arab and Muslim world isn’t realistic.

Obama’s Outreach To Muslims Won’t Achieve Goal

The decision by President Obama to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay and open a dialogue with the Muslim world is unlikely to achieve its principal objective, which is to undermine the appeal of al-Qaida. The reason for this is that attacks like Sept. 11, 2001, spring from deep spiritual causes and are not the result of American political behavior.

In his interview with the Arabic television station, al Arabiya, Obama missed the moral dimension of the struggle with terrorism completely. He said that the U.S. has “not been perfect” in its dealings with the Arab world (who has?) and all too often started off by dictating.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Obama is naive and doesn’t realize, you are dealing with a different civilization.

Umar Lee challenges Joe the Plumber to a fight!

Umar Lee Challenges Joe The Plumber to a Fight

Joe the Plumber is now headed to Gaza as a war correspondent for the conservative, anti-Muslim, pro-Israeli website Pajamas TV.

I challenge Joe to a fight, we can either do boxing or MMA. If I win the proceeds go to the children of Gaza, if he wins the proceeds go to Israel. I encourage my readers to email Pajamas TV in support of this event.

Umar Lee is an Islamo-Fascist. He wants violence against those he disagrees with. Hey Umar, you aren’t anybody, you’re a Wannabe Jihadi. Umar is an American Islamo-Fascist. He needs to watched and monitored. He’s the enemy with, a threat to America

Islamic Radical, Umar Lee calls for Muslims in America to help Gaza (Hamas). This is more evidence of his Jihadist mindset.

Umar Lee Rants about Israel

Umar Lee is dangerous. he’s the enemy within. His loyalty is to the Dar al Islam, not United States of America. He needs to be watched.

Think Progress sides against Israel

by Rodan ( 13 Comments › )

This is no shock. The Left will always ally with Jihadists.

‘Key Ally In The War On Terror’ Breaks With U.S., Condemns Israel For Gaza Strikes»

They are happy that Iraq is against Israel. They hate Israel and gloat at any bad news.

Jackie Says:

In your face it’s a smack down. Look for others to follow. The US Media wouldn’t show the massacre done on woman and children by Israel. Israel bombed a children’s school now what’s that got to do with Hamas? It is just a cold bloody murder spree and life menas nothing. As one man in Israel was killed Israel want every Palestine man/woman/child to die for that one life. Now we’re made to remember the Holocaust and how Jews suffered and were murdered now the Palestine can do the same. Iran and South Korea can now legally get Nukes to protect their citizens from an attack per the Bush Policy. Bush murdered 1 million Iraq men/woman/chidren so this is nothing he has no problem with more killing.

Jihadi Warrior Says:

Israel must be destroyed. I’m glad you all agree!

This is the Leftist attitude. Think Progress led by Faiz Shakir is a Pro Islamo-Fascist website. The Leftist-Islamic Alliance is very strong.

Turkey:The Most Anti-American Nation

by Rodan ( 7 Comments › )
Filed under Turkey at November 18th, 2008 - 10:19 pm

I think it is time to cut off aid to turkey. They are not our friends and committed genocide against Armenians and created the Balkan mess. They don’t like us, why should we stay allied with them. I saw let’s get closer with Greece and Serbia. Also Turkey occupies Northern Cyprus. Why is the media silent on this occupation?

The Most Anti-American Nation

Since the AKP assumed power in 2002, Turks have heard nothing positive about the West from their leaders.

Soner Cagaptay
NEWSWEEK
From the magazine issue dated Nov 24, 2008

Dear President-Elect Obama: As you take office, I am enthusiastically watching your desire to win hearts and minds around the world. But I am concerned in particular about Turkey. This nation is the embodiment of what the United States and the West want to achieve around the world. It is predominantly Muslim, yet Western and democratic. But the Turks are vehemently anti-American, so much so that they consistently rank in polls as the most anti-American country in the world. According to the Pew Center’s latest poll, only 12 percent of the Turks like the United States—fewer, even, than the percentage of Pakistanis. Obamania in Turkey will help you change America’s image, but given the dismal numbers, I am afraid that might not be enough. Despite the close cooperation with the United States on Iraq, Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) government has taken the easy way, bashing America at home in an attempt to boost its own popularity. But you should not ignore Turkey. Because of its strategic location, Turkey is a key partner to the United States in tackling many foreign-policy challenges. You will need Turkish support and the Turkish base at Incirlik to achieve many of your goals, such as withdrawing troops from Iraq.

So allow me to make some suggestions on tackling anti-Americanism in Turkey. First, do not dismiss the AKP’s rhetoric as benign domestic politicking. While an anti-Western statement by a Danish politician could be dismissed as “crazy,” and the same statement by an Egyptian might be considered “normal,” Turkey is neither Denmark nor Egypt. This is the rare country in which anti-Western statements actually matter because they help shape people’s identity. Since the AKP assumed power in 2002, the Turks have not heard anything positive about the West from their leadership. In fact, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has often lambasted the West, suggesting, for instance, that “the West uses terrorism to sell Turkey weapons” or that “Turkey has borrowed only immoral stuff from the West.”

Obama Was Not Ignorant About William Ayers

Barack Obama’s claims that he had no idea about William Ayers’ violent, radical history are simply false: Was Obama Ignorant About Bill Ayers? Of Course Not.

Videos: The Ayers connection; Update: Obama doesn’t read newspapers?

William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn were very open, even boastful about their past. How many times does Barack Obama think he can get away with his “see no evil” act?

Ayers Was on Woods Fund Board with Obama When He Stepped on Flag

by Rodan ( 7 Comments › )
Filed under Barack Obama, Election 2008 at October 5th, 2008 - 10:51 am

Barack Obama was much older than 8 when William Ayers was photographed stepping on a US flag in 2001, for an article in which Ayers said he had “No Regrets” for his violent actions in the Weather Underground.

In fact, at the same time Ayers was in a Chicago alley desecrating the flag, he and Barack Obama were serving on the board of the Woods Fund together: PolitiFact | Obama served on board with Ayers.

Deborah Harrington, president of the Woods Fund, a philanthropic organization in Chicago, said Obama was a director from 1994 through 2001. That overlaps Ayers’ time as a director by three years. It also means Obama served with Ayers for the final months of 2001, after Ayers made his comments to the New York Times.

Boston Globe Op-Ed: ‘I Don’t Support the Troops’

by Rodan ( 2 Comments › )
Filed under Military at September 18th, 2008 - 10:00 am

Every once in a while a “progressive” gets tired of maintaining a false front, and comes right out and says what they really feel about the military and about America. Today’s self-unmasking is by Steve Almond, for the Boston Globe: Supporting our troops.

PERHAPS the most insidious byproduct of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, has been a reflexive sanctification of the military. To put this in bumper stickerese: Support the Troops.

Well, I have an ugly confession to make: I don’t support the troops – at least not unconditionally. When somebody tells me they serve in the military, my first impulse isn’t to say, “Thank you for your service!” like those insufferable chickenhawks on talk radio.

My first impulse is to say, “I’m sorry to hear that.” Because I am. I’m sorry to know that the person I’m talking to might someday be maimed or killed on the job, or might someday kill someone else. Or refuel a plane that drops bombs on buildings.

I can’t see how anyone who calls himself or herself Christian – or human, for that matter – wouldn’t be sorry.

The fact that we have an army, that we need an army, is inherently tragic. It’s an admission that our species is still ruled by fear and aggression.
