Filed under Blogmocracy, Polls at January 29th, 2010 - 6:00 pm

Here we go again!

Sorry for the late start on voting. Since the nominations were spread out over a bunch of different threads, it took me longer than I thought finding time to sort through them.

The polls will stay up until next Friday, Feb 5th. One vote per day, per person please.

The Icarus Award – formerly known to us as “The Fiskie”.

The Fallaci Award

(with many thanks to Bosch Fawstin for the images)

Update: Thank you Robert Spencer! The Fallaci is back!

What’s in a name… (you decide!)

Update: Ok… round deux…

The Icarus was ahead as the Fiskie name replacement and The Fallaci was ahead against The Neda but we’ll hold out a bit to give everyone a chance to nominate.

What would you like our Blogmocracy Awards to be named? Back at the old place, once a year we voted for the Fiskie and Fallaci (Idiotarian & Anti-Idiotarian of the Year). Over here, it’s up to us~

Just the two awards? International and domestic categories?

Nominations open until noon pacific tomorrow! Then we’ll have a vote for our names~ Sound good?

Remember the good ol’ days …
From the original LGF Dictionary, preserved at Zombietime ~

Fiskie – An award originated by Charles, designating the single person in any calendar year who most clearly exhibited the personality traits of BBC reporter Robert Fisk (who, after being kidnapped by Afghan extremists, expressed sympathy for them and their cause and famously declared, “If I were them, I’d have beaten me too.”); or, more generally, who was the year’s most unrepentant idiotarian. Voting on the Fiskie takes place every year in January. Previous winners have included Jimmy Carter and Rachel Corrie. (See also the LGF FAQ.) [The award was originated by Charles in this post on 12/19/2002; originally it was merely called “LGF Idiotarian of the Year Award”; after complaints from LGFers that nominee Robert Fisk was in a league by himself and was sure to win, Charles updated his post, dropping Fisk from the nomination yet changing the name to “The Robert Fisk Award for Idiotarian of the Year”; …

*sigh* Those threads were so much fun, but sad in the overflow of nominations. There was even a counter-award added a few years later for the best anti-Idiotarian named after the late Oriana Fallaci… but it was yanked as Fallaci was found under the bus.

Since most of us have left that place behind, we’d like to continue the tradition here at our new home.

To facilitate debate (and to prevent the already award winning (deux) Johnson from running away with this one every year) I say we should name our Idiotarian of the Year Award after the head lizard himself, Charles Johson, and go ahead and give him lifetime acknowlegement.

Should it be … The Johnson? The Chucky? The Ponytail? You decide! I say we should keep the anti-Idiotarian award named for Oriana Fallaci. What do you think?

Charles-Palin

Without further ADIEU ~ *wink, wink* … *gettit?*
I proudly present to you the very first annual

~Blogmocracy Awards for 2009~

The categories will be:

The (?) – the best example of a horse’s ass for the year.

And continuing with a good thing…

The Fallaci (?) – the best all around anti-idiotarian fighting the good fight!

Nominations are now open (Jan 1-Jan 5). Please place all nominations here. The top 10 nominations in each category will make it to the final round. Final round will start Jan 6 and run until Jan 10.
