Colombia, the new South American powerhouse

by Rodan ( 29 Comments › )
Filed under Columbia, Economy, Financial, World at July 19th, 2010 - 8:30 am

Colombia is the unsung miracle story of the early 21st century. The nation was on the verge of collapse 10 years ago. The Totalitarian Progressive FARC guerrillas controlled parts of the country. Only the Rightwing Militia, the AUC, prevented the fall of this nation to the Left.

In 2002, Alvaro Uribe came into power and turned the situation around. He integrated most of the AUC fighters into the Colombian armed forces and pursued free market policies. He took the fight to the FARC and stared Chavez down. Colombia is now has a growing economy and a well trained army thanks to Israeli trainers. Israel is that nations closest ally, even more so than the Obama regime. It is the greatest story never told.

In a time of emerging-market juggernauts, Colombia gets little notice. Its $244 billion economy is only the fifth-largest in Latin America, a trifle next to Brazil, the $2 trillion regional powerhouse. Yet against all odds Colombia has become the country to watch in the hemisphere. In the past eight years the nation of 45 million has gone from a crime- and drug-addled candidate for failed state to a prospering dynamo. The once sluggish economy is on a roll. Oil and gas production are surging, and Colombia’s MSCI index jumped 15 percent between January and June, more than any other stock market this year.

This is more than a bull run. Since 2002, foreign direct investment has jumped fivefold (from $2 billion to $10 billion), while GDP per capita has doubled, to $5,700. The society that once was plagued by car bombs, brain drain, and capital flight is now debating how to avoid “Dutch disease,” the syndrome of too much foreign cash rolling in. Stable, booming, and democratic, Colombia has increasingly become “a bright star in the Latin American constellation,” as emerging-market analyst Walter Molano of BCP Securities calls it. Michael Geoghegan, CEO of HSBC, recently picked Colombia as a leader of a nascent block of midsize powers, the CIVETS (after the smallish, tree-dwelling cat), which stands for Colombia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Egypt, Turkey, and South Africa. “These are the new BRICs,” he said.

Thanks to the security achievements it is now a place for tourism. The Caribbean coast has great beaches that many know about. The President elect, Juan Manuel Santos, is now planning to lower taxes and attract more investments. Colombia is a success story and one that should be told.

Colombian Rotisserie Chicken Evening Open Thread

by Rodan ( 242 Comments › )
Filed under Caption This, Open thread at January 20th, 2010 - 5:30 pm

Colombia is famous for many things. They are known for their women, their coffee and Aguardiente. One thing they are also known for is their Rotisserie Chicken. I don’t know what makes theirs different, but it is awesome. Growing up in Woodside, Queens and I loved the chicken along with rice and red beans. Luckily, in Tampa I found some good Colombian spots where I can get this food. The good thing about these places is the amount of food one gets for their money. You get plates full of fried plantains, rice, beans, chicken, Eggs, fries, corn cakes empanadas, chorizo sausages  and steaks. These are called Platos Tipicos or Traditional dishes. I’ll tell you, Colombians love to eat.

My Step dad and well as many of my freinds are Colombian. I am also a supporter of the Rightwing Government of Alvaro Uribe. He has restored order to Colombia and is standing up to Progressive thug and former Obama ally, Hugo Chavez.

This is an Open thread so we can take break from the news. Any topic is allowed, Sports, History, Music and any subject is encouraged!

Enjoy the evening!

Update: This video is too funny!

Colombia mocks Hugo Chavez

by Rodan ( 87 Comments › )

The South American Progressive tyrant, Hugo Chavez, is claiming that Colombia is using drones to spy on Venezuelan Bases. Whether it’s true or not, Venezuela has been threatening Colombia. In response the Colombian Army has beefed up its Military presence on the border. If they did use a drone, they have a right to do so.

BOGOTA — Colombia’s defense chief joked Monday that Venezuelan troops might have mistaken Santa’s sleigh for a spy plane, dismissing accusations by President Hugo Chavez about drones flying over Venezuela.

Chavez on Sunday accused the United States of violating Venezuela’s airspace with an unmanned spy plane and ordered his military to be on alert and shoot down any such aircraft.

The Colombian defense minister mocked Hugo Chavez. They realize he’s a Leftist loon and a big joke.  Hugo Chavez is trying to increase tensions with Colombia to distract from Venezuela’s economic mess. He had better be careful. Colombia is not  a nation to play around with. Alvaro Uribe is a serious leader of his nation and will do whet ever to protect his people. I wish he was our President.

FARC’s NGO Allies

by Rodan ( 170 Comments › )
Filed under Progressives, Tranzis at December 15th, 2009 - 5:00 am

Good morning Blogmocracy Netizens! I hope everyone slept well and is ready for a new day! Once again I came across an article exposing the reach of the Transnationalist Totalitarian Progressive Movement through front organizations.

The Colombian progressive guerrilla organization called FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia)  is on the ropes. Under President Uribe the Colombia government has regained control of their nation. The Rebels have been pushed into Venezuela and Ecuador and only do minimal cross border raids. An aid last year by Colombian Armed Forces into Ecuador revealed the extent of International Leftist support for these terror groups. Their biggest backers are Progressive NGO’s (Non Government Organizations). They claim to be peace or human rights groups, but in reality they are Leftists allies of these thugs.

As the U.S. prepares to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan on a mission that will include defending a civilian population in a narco-economy, Colombia’s experience with drug traffickers and terrorism may be instructive.

The testimony of the former second in command of the 5th Front of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), which operates in the banana-growing, drug-trafficking region known as Urabá, could serve as Lesson One.

Ex-guerrilla commander Daniel Sierra Martinez—known by the nom de guerre “Samir”—turned himself in to Colombian authorities in December 2008 in response to President Álvaro Uribe’s national reconciliation offer. In exchange for a reduced prison sentence, he had to come clean about what he did in over two decades in the FARC. Last week Colombian authorities agreed to let him sit down with me and talk about his rebel experience.

These Transnational Progressive Organizations are a sham. They are Marxist front groups using fancy slogans and propaganda to assist radical causes around the globe. They have suffered a tremendous blow in Colombia. In retaliation, they have prevented a Free Trade agreement with that nation.

It is time we ignore these NGO’s. They have a Tranzi anti-American agenda.

Hugo Chavez acquiring Missiles

by Rodan ( 146 Comments › )
Filed under Barack Obama, Communism, Progressives, Tranzis, Venezuela at December 8th, 2009 - 7:38 am

Goodmorning Blogmocracy Netizens! I was planning on taking  a little break, but this story needs to be discussed.

Totalitarian Progressive tyrant and Obama ally, Hugo Chavez is now claiming to be acquiring missiles. He claims that Colombia is preparing to invade Venezuela. This is madness and a total lie on his part. Colombia has just recently got it’s act together and has no plans to acquire more territory. Chavez is in trouble at home and he is amping up the rhetoric to distract the his nation’s attention.

Chavez3

President Hugo Chavez said Monday that Venezuela has received thousands of Russian-made missiles and rocket launchers as part of his government’s military preparations for a possible armed conflict with neighboring Colombia.“They are preparing a war against us,” Chavez said during a televised address, repeating a charge he has been making for months. “Preparing is one of the best ways to neutralize it.”

Both Colombia and Washington deny having any plans to attack Venezuela, but Chavez argues they are plotting together a military offensive against Venezuela. Chavez says his government is acquiring more weapons as a precaution.

What is curious is that Chavez is claiming that The US is in cahoots with Colombia. Why would he say this after all Obama is his fellow Progressive ally. This clearly is a trumped up charge and a total fantasy. Obama loves Chavez is actually cool to Alvaro Uribe.

Colombia has been a success. Since 2002, with the help of the United States, the Uribe government has turned the nation around. The FARC rebels have been defeated and pushed back to the Venezuelan and Ecuadorean borders. The Economy has been booming and crime reduced. Venezuela has been a failure on the other hand as there are Food shortages and inflation. Progressivism doesn’t work and Chavez is just stirring trouble to cove r this up.

US Should Support Colombia against Venezuela

by Rodan ( 164 Comments › )
Filed under American Supremacy, Barack Obama, Communism, Liberal Fascism, Progressives, Tranzis, Venezuela at September 30th, 2009 - 10:00 am

This is an article on a situation that is personal for me. My Step dad is Colombian, I am close with his family and I have visited Colombia many times. President Alvaro Uribe has turned that nation around, he’s reduced crime, improved the economy and has crushed the Progressive Movement in Colombia. Colombia is a staunch US ally and is allowing us to use their bases for Drug interdiction. However American Progressives despise him because he modernized his nation through Free Market means, they prefer Venezuela which is a Progressive Regime. The Tyrant of Venezuela is not an American ally and he wants to dominate our Southern Flank , it is time to confront him!

In early September, Colombia’s biggest businesses surprised everyone by declaring their wholehearted support for the country’s president, Alvaro Uribe, in his deepening conflict with Venezuela. If they lost the huge export market next door, well, that would simply be too bad.

For the first time, Colombian exporters of just about everything Venezuela buys, from toilet paper to gasoline, fruit and vegetables, and milk and meat, gave their president the green light to confront Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, instead of continuing to turn the other cheek, as they had been pressing him to do in the eight years since Uribe took office.

Venezuela had become a magnificent business opportunity for Colombian exporters. It produces next to nothing anymore (except oil), has a highly subsidised official exchange rate, and wields huge sums of petrodollars with which it can buy up everything in sight. While Colombia’s authorities were forced to deal with Chávez’s frequent insults, interventions in Colombia’s internal affairs, massive arms purchases, and diplomatic tantrums, the business community profited and pressured the government to compromise. Until now, that is what the government did.

Chavez with his Petro money is destabilizing Latin America by installing Progressive Regimes via elections. He also supports Progressive parties who are trying to seize power in the Latin countries. Hugo is a menace not just to his neighbors, but to America as well. Colombia is the only nation in South America ready to confront this Totalitarian Progressive Tyrant and we should back them. However, Obama himself is a Progressive and his allies control Congress. He will probably back-stab Colombia to please Chavez and American Progressives.

It is a sad day when America stops backing its allies to please its enemies. Colombia is a great nation with wonderful people, they deserve our support. Again, this is personal for me, and I hope America does the right thing. Sadly with Obama in charge I can’t have that hope.

Will there be any consequence for Venezuela’s material support for Colombian insurgents?

by Rodan ( 5 Comments › )
Filed under Barack Obama, Leftist-Islamic Alliance, Liberal Fascism, Venezuela at July 31st, 2009 - 10:11 am

Hugo Chavez of Venezuela is beloved by the Progressive Machine. He can do no wrong and our President likes this man. When they met it was as if 2 old friends reunited. This is because Chavez is part of the International Progressive Movement as is Barack Hussein Obama.

Colombia, whose President Alvaro Uribe is staunchly pro American has been ignored. This is a pattern of Obama who likes our enemies, more than our allies. Uribe is hated by the Progressive Machine, since he is a Traditionalist and wants to preserve his nation’s Latin identity and not replace it with a Globalist one. His forces have captured weaponry that belonged to Venezuela in the hands of the Progressive Rebels, the FARC.

WHEN THE Colombian government last year unveiled extensive evidence that the government of Venezuela had collaborated with a Colombian rebel movement known for terrorism and drug trafficking, other Latin American governments and the United States mostly chose to look the other way. The evidence was contained on laptops captured in a controversial raidby the Colombian army on a guerrilla base in Ecuador. Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez denounced the e-mails and documents as forgeries, and the potential consequences of concluding that Venezuela was supporting a terrorist organization against a democratic government — which could include mandatory U.S. sanctions and referral to the U.N. Security Council — were more than the Bush administration was prepared to contemplate.

Now Colombia has made public evidence that will be even more difficult to ignore. In a raid on a camp of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia (FARC), a group officially designated a terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union, Colombian forces captured sophisticated, Swedish-produced antitank rockets. A Swedish investigation confirmed that they were originally sold to the Venezuelan army by the arms manufacturer Saab. What’s more, FARC e-mails from the laptops captured in Ecuador appear to refer to the weapons; in one, a FARC operative in Caracas reports discussing delivery of the arms in a 2007 meeting with two top Venezuelan generals, including the director of military intelligence, Hugo Armando Carvajal Barrios.

Progressive and Islamic regimes can do anything they please. The International-Globalist Press supports their actions and never expose them. Nations that resist the Globalist-Islamic-Progressive alliance like Israel, Serbia and Colombia get thrown under the bus. It really is a sad world, made worse that America now has a Progressive regime itself.
