Why Israel and Jerusalem And Nowhere Else!

by WrathofG-d ( 96 Comments › )
Filed under Israel at May 11th, 2010 - 1:00 pm

I came across this fantastic article at Israel Matzav. It perfectly expresses the feelings of millions of Jews, and expresses why Israel and Jerusalem.

Imagine for a moment that Israel was established in Uganda in 1948. Far from those who seek its destruction, Israel would grow and prosper. Resources would be diverted toward the sciences rather than defensive measures, and Israeli innovations would benefit the entire human race without ever being questioned. Israelis would walk the streets freely without fear and would sleep soundly through the night. And Yom Ha’Atzmaut (Israel Independence Day) would be celebrated in its full glory, without the sad preface of Yom HaZikaron (the Day of Remembrance) – there would be no need to cry for the tens of thousands of lives that were sacrificed for our homeland because no such sacrifices would have been made. Israel would just be, and this homeland would serve as a true safe haven for the Jewish people.

Still, that Ugandan utopia just wouldn’t do.

When a Jew prays outside of Israel, he is told to orient himself towards Israel. When a Jew prays within Israel, he is told to face Jerusalem. Why? Because Jerusalem is ground zero for Jewish spirituality and culture, and the biblical and historical home base of our nation. It is the eternal focus of Jewish life. Thus, if Israel were to exist in Uganda, a Jew would always be facing out of his land during prayer. He would gaze longingly toward the City of Gold singing “If I forget thee O Jerusalem” and wondering why he hadn’t fought to keep it.

Indeed, the only Israel that could ever truly be the homeland for the Jewish people is one that not only has the potential to include Jerusalem, but actually does. It is for this reason that we celebrate Yom Yerushalaim (Jerusalem Day) as much as Yom Ha’Atzmaut – it marks the day when our acquisition of the real Israel became complete Jerusalem was once again in our hands.

So, was it all worth it? Was it worth reestablishing Israel amongst those who seek our destruction just to have Jerusalem? Is the symbolic heart of the Jewish people worth the thousands of actual hearts that were silenced on her behalf?

Trembling and teary-eyed we must answer in the affirmative.

Like Carl, I’m not too sure Uganda would have been utopia either. Almost by definition, because any day that Jerusalem and Tzion are not in the hands of the Jewish people, it is another day that the Nation of Israel must try to live without its heart and soul.

In other Israel news….about those so-called “loyal” Israeli-Arab/Muslims.

For Jerusalem

At

Heart of Our Hearts [Daniel Foster]

Nobel Prize-winning author and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel today took out a full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal, in the form an open letter to President Obama, with whom Wiesel visited the Buchenwald death camp last year.

The text of the letter.

For Jerusalem

It was inevitable: Jerusalem once again is at the center of political debates and international storms. New and old tensions surface at a disturbing pace. Seventeen times destroyed and seventeen times rebuilt, it is still in the middle of diplomatic confrontations that could lead to armed conflict. Neither Athens nor Rome has aroused that many passions.

For me, the Jew that I am, Jerusalem is above politics. It is mentioned more than six hundred times in Scripture-and not a single time in the Koran. Its presence in Jewish history is overwhelming. There is no more moving prayer in Jewish history than the one expressing our yearning to return to Jerusalem. To many theologians, it IS Jewish history, to many poets, a source of inspiration. It belongs to the Jewish people and is much more than a city, it is what binds one Jew to another in a way that remains hard to explain. When a Jew visits Jerusalem for the first time, it is not the first time; it is a homecoming. The first song I heard was my mother’s lullaby about and for Jerusalem. Its sadness and its joy are part of our collective memory.

Since King David took Jerusalem as his capital, Jews have dwelled inside its walls with only two interruptions; when Roman invaders forbade them access to the city and again, when under Jordanian occupation. Jews, regardless of nationality, were refused entry into the old Jewish quarter to meditate and pray at the Wall, the last vestige of Solomon’s temple. It is important to remember: had Jordan not joined Egypt and Syria in the 1967 war against Israel, the old city of Jerusalem would still be Arab. Clearly, while Jews were ready to die for Jerusalem they would not kill for Jerusalem.

Today, for the first time in history, Jews, Christians and Muslims all may freely worship at their shrines. And, contrary to certain media reports, Jews, Christians and Muslims ARE allowed to build their homes anywhere in the city. The anguish over Jerusalem is not about real estate but about memory.

What is the solution? Pressure will not produce a solution. Is there a solution? There must be, there will be. Why tackle the most complex and sensitive problem prematurely? Why not first take steps which will allow the Israeli and Palestinian communities to find ways to live together in an atmosphere of security. Why not leave the most difficult, the most sensitive issue, for such a time?

Jerusalem must remain the world’s Jewish spiritual capital, not a symbol of anguish and bitterness, but a symbol of trust and hope. As the Hasidic master Rebbe Nahman of Bratslav said, “Everything in this world has a heart; the heart itself has its own heart.”

Jerusalem is the heart of our heart, the soul of our soul.

— Elie Wiesel

“East Jerusalem” and Progressive Antisemitism

by Delectable ( 292 Comments › )
Filed under Anti-semitism, Israel, Judaism, Leftist-Islamic Alliance, Progressives at March 23rd, 2010 - 8:00 am

Please read this.

Rabbi Eric Yoffie, who has previously been the keynote speaker at ISNA (the Islamic Society of North America, an unindicted co-conspirator of the Holy Land Trial Foundation), said that Obama is right to call for the building freeze in ‘East Jerusalem.’ This is nothing less than a war on the good from someone who has previously shown his willingness to collaborate with Israel’s (and the U.S.’s) enemies, ala J Street. Actually, Rabbi Yoffie was a featured speaker at J Street’s “Annual Gala.” (quite the coincidence, no?) He spoke alongside the open jihadist, Salam al-Marayati, as well as Iran’s lobbyist, Trita Parsi. And of course, J Street 100% agrees with Rabbi Yoffie that Israel should stop building (for Jews only, of course) in “East Jerusalem,” obviously with the ultimate intent on giving up that land (and thus cleansing 700,000 Jews from their homes) for a future ‘Palestinian state.’

But I digress.

Israel is simply building homes, and in response the jihadists of Fatah and Hamas are building rockets and indoctrinating their people to hate – and yet, according to these progressives, it is Israel that should be capitulating. This point has been rammed home yet again by Hillary Clinton, when she equated building homes in Israel’s holiest city (and capitol!) with hate indoctrination and terrorism in her AIPAC speech yesterday. (big shock here – J Street applauded Hillary’s speech)

Three points on this are often unacknowledged.

1. Ramat Shlomo – the housing units at issue (which caused the diplomatic ‘crisis’) - are in North Jerusalem, not East Jerusalem. Thus, this is saying that Jews have no right to build anywhere in Jerusalem. (and implicitly, anywhere in Israel?)

2. Technically, Hebrew University and Hadassah Hospital are in “East Jerusalem.” Should those institutions be dismantled? Why not, according to progressive reasoning? There is a false myth that all of ‘East Jerusalem’ was Arab in 1949. Totally untrue, as evidenced by the existence of Hebrew University and Hadassah Hospital! Moreover, the 1949 borders of Israel are literally the lines where the fighting stopped. That’s it. I would like ‘Rabbi’ Eric Yoffie and J Street to explain why and how those particular lines are sacrosanct.

3. Arabs are able to build anywhere they want in Jerusalem, and do. The Israeli ‘building inspectors’ have dedicated themselves to tearing down Jewish, not Arab, illegal building. Source.

I reject the implicitly racist/antisemitic notion that Jews are not allowed to build in their holiest city, but Arabs can live anywhere they want.

Pogroms in Jerusalem

by Rodan ( 96 Comments › )
Filed under Islamic Invasion, Islamic Supremacism, Israel, Leftist-Islamic Alliance, Liberal Fascism, Sharia (Islamic Law) at December 2nd, 2009 - 2:00 pm

Yes, you are reading this headline correctly! There are right now as we speak, Pogroms against Jews in Jerusalem. Islamo-Imperialist and foreign Progressive Collaborators have been attacking Jewish families who are moving into the eastern parts of Jerusalem. Can you imagine if Progressives and Imperialist were attacking Americans moving into parts of New York? Well that is what is occurring in Israel!

A “welcoming” committee of Arabs and foreign anti-Israel activists, including those from the United States and Sweden, attacked Jews with clubs and stones Tuesday as a new family moved into a home in eastern Jerusalem. Police stopped the attack but not before blood was streaming down the face of a Jewish guard at the site.

The clash came as Sweden plans to present a proposal to the European Union that it recognize eastern Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian Authority, a step that would give the PA de facto status as a state and weaken Israeli sovereignty over the city.

Sweden which is beloved by Progressives is a collaborationist state. I call on all Blogmocracy Netizens to boycott products from that Progressive hell hole. As for the Americans involved, it comes as no surprise. Anti-Semitism is rising under the guise of anti-Zionism. It is open season on Jews in their own homeland! It is no coincidence it is open season on Christians in America as well.

These events are not a coincidence in my opinion. There is a Global Progressive-Imperialist war on Christians and Jews. What is sad is that Jerusalem was built by King David, who was Jewish. The Israeli government should protect it’s citizens from Collaborationist Progressive and Islamo-Imperialist aggression, that is their job! Is that not the reason Israel exists as being a Jewish homeland?

(Hat Tip – Wrath of G_D)

This is Wrath’s comment on this disturbing event!

–This is how the “peace process” according to the U.S. and the International community works.  It was seen in the 2005 Expulsion of innocent Jews from their homes in order to please the Muslim terrorists, and is playing itself out again now.  The World insists that Jews be allauded inferior to no rights, and insist that parts of the World be Judenrein.  This is Anti-Semitism at play, whether people recognize it or not.  What was the crime of this family? – only being Jewish.

Wrath, I could not agree more!

The Goings on in Gilo, Jerusalem

by Delectable ( 228 Comments › )
Filed under Anti-semitism, Barack Obama, Israel, Progressives, Tranzis at November 18th, 2009 - 1:33 pm

As many of you have probably already heard, the Obama administration has decided to make international waves about the decision of the Jerusalem municipality in Israel to approve an additional 900 housing units in Gilo, which is within Jerusalem city limits. Somehow, a municipal decision to approve housing units in the capitol of its country becomes an international incident. Only in Israel!

Gilo

This is typical. I am going to not lay all the blame on Obama here, and it must be noted that Condi Rice had made similar such statements in the past. As is typical, J Street supported Obama, and is against the additional housing in Gilo. (shocka!)

The common theme is that somehow it is “anti-human rights” for Jews to build homes, kindergartens, and nurseries in their capitol city of Jerusalem, which is, lest we forget, the holiest city for Jews, and the city that every observant Jew prays to on a daily basis. (Can you imagine the USA telling Saudi Arabia that it cannot build more housing units for Muslims in Mecca? Enough said!)

But here is the little wrinkle to the story that the mainstream media usually leaves out: Arabs can buy land in Jewish areas. Not only can they buy land – they actually do buy land in Jewish neighborhoods.

Here are just two examples of Jewish neighborhoods in Jerusalem where Arabs feel free to buy and sell land as they see fit – Pisgat Ze’ev and French Hill. In fact, Arabs buy and sell land anywhere they want in Israel, including Tel Aviv!

Here is an article by reputed scholar Alex Safian about the ability of Arabs to buy and sell land in all parts of Israel, written in 1997. The restrictions to land purchase only have decreased, to the extent they existed in 1997, due to the liberal Supreme Court of Israel! Right now there are reports of Gulf Arabs buying of land in Israel located in the Galilee. This flies in the face of the supposedly ‘racist’ and ‘discriminatory’ land policies in Israel. Actually, the real racists are from Peace Now. They actually sued to prevent Jews from buying land in Jaffa, Israel, which is indisputably part of the 1967 borders of Israel. Arabs – they can buy land wherever they want (with the understanding that most land is state-owned, but I use the term “buy” and “long-term lease” interchangeably, as far as this goes). But according to Peace Now (a misnomer of a term if I ever heard it – they are anti-peace, as I previously discussed), Jews cannot buy land in Jaffa, because it is an Arab neighborhood, which must be ‘respected.’ (yet Jewish neighborhoods disrespected, of course – this is a one-way street!) Thankfully, Peace Now lost their case before the Israeli Supreme Court. Interesting, I came across this article, which clearly peddled the lame line that if Jews move into an Arab neighborhood of Jaffa, then it will “incite” violence. So Jews should not have the right to live there. This clearly follows the “noble savage” line of thinking – that somehow Arabs who live in Jaffa are not human beings, but rather are beasts, who are incapable of anything but violence, so you should not provoke the noble beasts! As I said – Peace Now, J Street and their ilk – they really are racist!

Meanwhile, we deal with the reality that if Arabs sell land to Jews, they could be slaughtered. I am not just making this up. There have been cases of Arabs being killed for selling land to Jews. And so this also colors land claims – of course Arabs will deny they sold land to Jews, because to do anything us puts their very lives in jeopardy! Also – in Jordan – and throughout the Mideast – it is against state law for a Jew to own land in the country. (yet no “human rights organizations” seem to have problems with this, of course!) Here is a CAMERA primer on the law concerning land purchase and use. It is a must-read to understand the basic law in the region!

What is the lesson to be learned about this all? I would say that it is racist for Obama (and previously, Condi Rice) to make an “international incident” over 900 homes in Gilo. As I have extensively shown, Arabs have the right to buy and sell land throughout all of Israel. It is clearly racist to tell Jews – and only Jews – that they must be ghettoized, and cannot enjoy such similar rights.

As I have outlined, Peace Now is tied in very closely (joined at the hip, if you will) to the progressive movement. They (and J Street, also, as I have outlined, a progressive organization) are thus supporting racism.

It is because I reject racism and support equality and human rights that I support Israel and reject the progressive view of the world that ghettoizes the Jew, and turns Arabs “noble savages.” I expect more for humanity and the world!

~Open Thread: Friday Evening “Jerusalem & Temple Mount” Edition~

by WrathofG-d ( 348 Comments › )
Filed under Anti-semitism, Islamists, Israel, Judaism, Middle East, Open thread, Palestinians, Religion, World at November 13th, 2009 - 3:28 pm

Shabbat starts very early these days, and I have way too much work before then to put together the regular Shabbat/Friday Evening post.

Instead, I present you with this informative and yet still spiritual article regarding The Temple Mount, and the Arab onslaught to erase the Jewish people’s historical connection to it.  This is definitely worth saving for future use as Jerusalem, and the Temple Mount are bound to become the topic in the future.

In his 1925 autobiography, Mein Kampf, Adolph Hitler wrote that people would assume that an outrageous lie must be true because no one would have the audacity to have made it up. Later, that propaganda technique evolved into: If a big lie is repeated enough times it will become widely accepted as truth.

This bit of Nazi propaganda is being used today by the Palestinians. Their Big Lie is preached from the pulpits of the mosques and in the classrooms of their madrasas – and more and more of the untutored masses are believing it.

What is the Palestinian Big Lie? Palestinian Authority Mufti Ikrama Sabri was quoted in the Palestinian daily Al-Ayyam (November 22, 1997) as saying that the Western Wall is part of the Al-Aksa Mosque and the Jews have no connection with it. The same newspaper (July 18, 1997) reported that Hamad Yusef, head of the Institution for the Rejuvenation of the Palestinian Heritage, referred to the “false historical claim of the Jews in the holy city, a claim which they were unable to prove in all of the (archaeological) excavations conducted by foreign groups for the past hundred years.”

In other words, the Jewish people have no historical connection with the Temple Mount, including the Western Wall, or with any part of old Jerusalem. No archaeological evidence has ever shown otherwise. So they claim.

U.S. Consulate In Jerusalem Exclusively Caters To The P.A.

by WrathofG-d ( 343 Comments › )
Filed under Democratic Party, Israel, Judaism, Leftist-Islamic Alliance, Middle East, Palestinians, Politics, Republican Party at October 2nd, 2009 - 11:29 am

Back in August of this year, it was noticed that the U.S. consulate in Jerusalem, instead of being a connection between the U.S., and the County it is in -Israel, was instead acting as a de facto Embassy to the Palestinian Authority (“P.A.”).

When an irate American wrote to the American Consul-General in Jerusalem on August 14 expressing outrage that the Consulate’s website “did not mention Israel, projects in Israel, the people of Israel or the modern state of Israel, but did predominantly mention the numerous projects the U.S. has with the Palestinians, he received the following response confirming that this ignoring of Israel was not on accident:

“Thank you for your feedback on the U.S. Consulate General Jerusalem’s Website. Just to clarify, the Consulate General in Jerusalem is the principal representation to the Palestinian Authority. We also provide services to American citizens in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza.

“The U.S. embassy to Israel is in Tel Aviv and is focused on the bilateral relationship with Israel. Their website is
http://usembassy-israel.org.il/. The American Center in Jerusalem also provides information about the United States to the Israeli public. Their website is http://usembassy-israel.org.il/ac/ .

“Jerusalem is a final status issue. Israel and the Palestinians have agreed to resolve its status during negotiations. We will support their efforts to reach agreements on all final status issues.”

{The Article}

This response from the U.S. would make sense but for one major issue that the above article points out – “the current seat of the PA government is in Ramallah” not Jerusalem; as Israel’s is. The article goes on to point out the significance of this conscious choice by the U.S.

[T]he United States government appears to already recognize the Palestinian Authority’s claim to Jerusalem.

Indeed.

We also cannot ignore the fact that at the same time, successive American governments have failed to officially recognize Israel’s declaration of the city as its capital since 1948, and although they are legally required to – per the 1995 “Jerusalem Embassy Relocation Act” – continue to refuse to move the U.S. Embassy to Israel to Israel’s Capitol -Jerusalem.

This sort of treatment of Israel by the U.S. State Department is systemic.  This past September The U.S. State Department  issued Ramadan, etc. greetings to Muslims while completely ignoring the Jewish High Holidays.

Both Jews and Muslims celebrated holidays in September 2009.  However, the United States Consulate in Jerusalem – America’s representative in Israel’s capital – chose to focus entirely on Islam this year, while ignoring the Jewish holidays of Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur completely.

The Consulate’s website features Eid il-Fitr greetings from U.S. President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Consul General Daniel Rubinstein. Its staff was involved in Ramadan celebrations in Jenin and Shechem, and hosted a meal in Jericho for the Muslim holiday of Iftar.

Clinton’s greeting was published on September 19 – the first day of Rosh HaShana. However, no mention was made of the Jewish holiday.

{The Article}

This is how our Government treats its greatest ally in The Middle East.  We should be ashamed!…

…Especially if we do nothing about it!

Obama Administration Funding Projects “Towards The Establishment of Independent Palestinian State”

by WrathofG-d ( 76 Comments › )
Filed under Anti-semitism, Barack Obama, Democratic Party, Israel, Leftist-Islamic Alliance, Middle East, Palestinians, Politics, Religion at September 4th, 2009 - 10:52 am

Obama HeadscarfThe United States is funding a Palestinian Authority project to place non-Hebrew road signs throughout Judea and Samaria.  The PA plans to implement it in exclusively Israeli-controlled areas as well.

The project is part of American aid “towards the establishment of an independent Palestinian state,” as a top official of USAID (United States Agency for International Development) in the PA, Howard Sumka, told the Al-Hayat Arabic daily.

The project was announced by PA transportation minister Dr. Saadi Alkaranz. Correspondent Haggai Huberman reports that it is the first of its kind since Jordan lost control of the area when it attacked Israel during the 1967 Six Day War.  All roads and localities will appear in Arabic and English on the new signs; Hebrew will not appear.

Minister Alkaranz said, “This project is included in the government’s plans to lay the foundations for the establishment of a Palestinian state whose capital is Jerusalem.” He explained that the signs will not include the names of any Jewish locations in the region.

{The Article}

Although the writing on roadsigns might sound like a non-issue, it has become a very contentious issue in the Arab/Israel conflict recently.  Not too long ago, Israeli Transportation Minister, Yisrael Katz  suggested that although all the roadsigns in Israel will continue to be in Hebrew, and Arabic (and English), they will use the Hebrew names for Israeli cities.  Thus, instead of now where the signs refer to Jerusalem as “Jerusalem” in English, “Yerusahlaim” in Hebrew, and “Al-Quds” in Arabic, they will all read “Yerusalaim” but be written in all three languages.   This caused an outpouring of all hell from the Israeli-Arabs,  and Muslim/Arab world with claims of racism, ethnic cleansing, etc.  Dispite this, the PLO/PA plan, funded by the U.S. (ie: your tax dollars) is to only use Arabic!

We also should not ignore the scope, message, and impact of this plan.  The project will effect EVERY area of Judea & Samaria, creates facts on the ground, impact the daily lives of the Arabs in Judea & Samaria, and interfere directly with Israeli sovereignty.  This is all without getting into how it is premature, and in violation of the principles, requirements we have insisted upon before such actions could be taken.  (see Road Map, Annapolis, Oslo, Camp David…)  As we all know, this hasn’t stopped the Obama administration from holding Israel to the previous agreements. (ie: removing roadblocks, giving the PLO soverignty, and “settlements”)

Hopefully it is accidental, but the Obama Administration is participating in history revisionism, racism, and ethnic cleansing.  The Obama administration seems to be making the same mistakes as the Bush administration did with the “Disengagement”, and supporting an outcome that is inherently Anti-Semitic.   By creating these “Arab only” facts on the ground, the Obama administration is wiping the historic Jewish connection to Judea & Samaria out of the history books, and supporting the forced exclusion of Jews from a future Palestine, and bolstering the Arab claim that a future Palestine shoudl be Judenrein.

250 Rabbis Rebuke President Obama: Hands Off of Jerusalem

by WrathofG-d ( 25 Comments › )
Filed under Barack Obama, Judaism, Religion at July 21st, 2009 - 4:42 pm

Not too long ago, we commented on Obama’s designs for Israel, his Administrations obsession with blaming “Jewish ‘settlements’” (which they incorrectly label Jerusalem), Obama’s handpicked meeting with so-called Jewish leaders, and Prime Minister Netanyahu’s response to President Obama’s plans for Jerusalem.

Often during these discussions, it is asked (a) how Jews can support Democrats, and (b) why isn’t there another loud Jewish voice.

Well B’H your questions have been answered by proud Rabbis in Israel!

http://www.artlevin.com/images/Walking%20to%20the%20Temple%2040-100.jpg

_______________________________________

Heads of the Pikuach Nefesh rabbinical committee have begun collecting the signatures of rabbis in Israel on a letter to United States President Barack Obama.  The letter demands that Obama cease talking about ending Jewish construction in Jerusalem and stop pressuring Israel in that direction.

In a reference to the upcoming “nine days” which culminate in Tisha B’Av, the rabbis tell Obama that “during these days, in which the Jewish people mourns the destruction of Jerusalem and marks the disgraceful memory of its destroyers, we are certain that you, Mr. Barack Obama, do not want to enter that disreputable list of those who raise their hand to strike Jerusalem and those who live in it.”

The rabbis note that during his visit to the Middle East, Obama showed “impressive erudition” in the Koran. “As one who is familiar with the Koran, you surely know that the city of Jerusalem is not even mentioned in it once,” they said.

“The Arab and Muslim world never recognized Jerusalem as belonging to it,” the letter went on. “On the other hand, all of the world’s nations knew for thousands of years that the Jews pray towards one place only – the holy city of Jerusalem.”The rabbis added that even putting aside the city’s enormous sanctity and importance for the Jewish people, there is no realpolitik logic behind any concession to the PA. “Since Israel began negotiations, withdrawals and concessions to the Palestinians, the entire world is witness to the justice of the Jewish Law (Halacha) which determines that any such concession will entail another round of bloodshed and deepen mistrust and dangers,” they agreed.

The rabbinical letter ends with a clear request: “If you, Mr. Obama. Wish to leave any chance at all for peace and quiet in the Middle East, take your hands off the Holy City of Jerusalem right now!”

May this be only the beginning!  Jerusalem is, and shall always stay the undivided capitol of the Jewish people!

Breaking News – Obama Drops Key Clause in Jerusalem Embassy Memo

by tqcincinnatus ( 126 Comments › )
Filed under Barack Obama, Israel at June 6th, 2009 - 5:13 am

It appears as if the Apologist-in-Chief is continuing his efforts at alienating our closest friend and ally – and the only truly and completely representative democracy – in the Middle East.  In the official Presidential memo detailing our policy approach to Israel, there was a clause that was always inserted by Bush, to the effect that the USA continues to commit itself to moving our embassy to Jerusalem.  Well, in Obama’s first release of this document, the clause isn’t there.

Late on Friday The Washington Times’ Christian Bourge obtained a copy of Presidential Determination 2009-19, latest in a series of pro forma memos to the Secretary of State entitled “Suspension of Limitations Under the Jerusalem Embassy Act.” This determination is a legally required waiver under said act to continue to delay the May 31, 1999 deadline for moving the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Nearly identical memos like this have been issued every six months for the last decade. Standard procedure, no big deal, right? Well in the Bush years the memo contained the sentence,

“My Administration remains committed to beginning the process of moving our embassy to Jerusalem.”

The Obama team has edited that passage out. This explains the Friday evening release. Congress should revisit the Jerusalem Embassy Act and remove the loophole that has allowed this charade to continue for ten years. Meanwhile the president should explain exactly what his policy is on this issue, and why he is not committed to beginning the process of moving the embassy.

In the world of Washington DC, releasing news late on the Friday afternoon is the political equivalent of trying to bury a body in the cornfield.  News is released at that time because the players know it will be found out eventually, and so they have some plausibility in saying that
“hey, we didn’t hide anything,” but all the same, it’s buried because, well, who pays attention to world events on Friday night?

Looks like Obama is trying to appease his new friends, the Palestinians.

Before Islam, Medina Was Originally A Jewish City

by WrathofG-d ( 29 Comments › )

http://www.deenislam.co.uk/gallery/artefacts/medina.JPG

Today, we hear a lot of talk about how Jerusalem should be split, – one half surrendered to Muslims, while the other half remains a mixed Muslim/Jewish city in Israel.  If this is the appropriate diplomatic way of turning back the clock, and ensuring peace between Muslims and Jews, then why not try out this solution with Medina first–a city that was originally Jewish?

________________________________________

Although the fact is little publicized, the Arab world’s second holiest city, Medina, was one of the allegedly “purely Arab” cities that actually was first settled by Jewish tribes. 1 History shows that Judaism was already well established in Medina two centuries before Muhammad’s birth.

On page 40, of his book “Arabs In History”, Bernard Lewis writes:

The city of Medina, some 280 miles north of Mecca, had originally been settled by Jewish tribes from the north, … The comparative richness of the town attracted an infiltration of pagan Arabs who came at first as clients of the Jews and ultimately succeeded in dominating them. Medina, or, as it was known before Islam, Yathrib, had no form of stable government at all. The town was tom by the feuds of the rival Arab tribes of Aus and Khazraj, with the Jews maintaining an uneasy balance of power. The latter, engaged mainly in agriculture and handicrafts, were economically and culturally superior to the Arabs, and were consequently disliked…. as soon as the Arabs had attained unity through the agency of Muhammad they attacked and ultimately eliminated the Jews.”

The number of Jews in Medina swelled following the Roman invasion of Israel – the subsequent expulsion of its Jewish population, and from Jews fleeing persecution in Persia2.  These refugees were assimilated into the three major Jewish tribes in Medina: the Banu Nadir, the Banu Quynuqua, and the Banu Quraiza.  When these Jews resettled in Medina, they took with them a superior knowledge of agriculture, irrigation, and industry. Homeless Jewish refugees in the course of a few generations became large landowners in the country.  In addition, the refugees who had come from Israel quickly became the controllers of its finance and trade.  This new Jewish prosperity also quickly became a direct challenge to the Arabs of the region, particularly the Quraysh at Mecca (of which Mohammad was a member) and other Arab tribes in Medina.

According to Alfred Guillaume,

At the dawn of Islam the Jews dominated the economic life of the Hijaz [Arabia]. They held all the best land … ; at Medina they must have formed at least half of the population. There was also a Jewish settlement to the north of the Gulf of Aqaba…. What is important is to note that the Jews of the Hijaz made many proselytes [or converts] among the Arab tribesmen.5

To add fuel to this fire, the Jews, strong in their faith in G-d, refused to accept Mohammad’s claims to be the final prophet.  In response, a precedent was established by Muhammad among Arab-Muslims to expropriate that which belonged to the Jews of Medina.

Guillaume continues,

… [Jewish] leaders opposed [Mohammad's] claim to be an apostle sent by God, and though they doubtless drew some satisfaction from his acceptance of the divine mission of Abraham, Moses, and the prophets, they could hardly be expected to welcome the inclusion of Jesus and Ishmael among his chosen messengers.

... the existence of pockets of disaffected Jews in and around his base was a cause of uneasiness and they had to be eliminated if he [Muhammad] was to wage war without anxiety.

Because the Jews preferred to retain their own beliefs the Jews of Medina fell under suspicion of treachery by Mohammad and were forced to lay down their arms and evacuate their settlements. Valuable land and much booty fell into the hands of the Muslims.12

Jealous, frustrated, and offended by the refusal of the Jews to accept him as a prophet of G-d, at the first feeling of military superiority over the Jews of Medina, Mohammad gave up his attempts to convert the Jews, and decided instead to make war on them proclaiming the following:

“Two religions may not dwell together on the Arabian Peninsula.”13

This edict was carried out by Abu Bakr and Omar 1, the Prophet Muhammad’s successors; the entire community of Jewish settlements throughout northern Arabia was systematically slaughtered.

According to Bernard Lewis,

“the extermination of the Jewish tribe of Quraiza was followed by “an attack on the Jewish oasis of Khaibar.”14

The battle of Khaybar, (the final destruction of the Jews of Medina) is a battle well known by Muslims today.  They often recall it at “anti-Israel” rallies, protests, speeches, and all over youtube, with the chant “Khaybar Khaybar ya Yahud, jaish-Muhammad saya’ud” (Khaybar Khaybar oh Jews, the army of Muhammad will return)15

They recall as their greatest hope, and sincerest joy to repeat the massacre at Khaybar done by their “pefect man” Mohammad.  At Khaybar, after the Jews were forced to flee their homes and villages in Medina, Messengers of Muhammad were sent to the Jews who had escaped to the safety and comfort of Khaibar, “inviting” Usayr, the Jewish “war chief,” to visit Medina for meditations.

Usayr set off with thirty companions and a Muslim escort. Suspecting no foul play, the Jews went unarmed. On the way, the Muslims turned upon the defenseless delegation, killing all but one who managed to escape. “War is deception,” 15 16

The slaughter of Arabian Jews and the expropriation of their property became Allah’s will. This massacre is recalled joyfully in the Koran:

… some you slew and others you took captive. He (Allah] made you masters of their [the Jews'] land, their houses and their goods, and of yet another land [Khaibar] on which you had never set foot before. Truly, Allah has power over all things.18

Guillaume reports that the anti-Jewish attack at Khaibar was fiercely fought off, but “though the inhabitants fought more bravely here than elsewhere, outnumbered and caught off their guard, they were defeated.”19 Those who somehow survived constituted the formula for Islam’s future successes. Some of the Jews, “non-Muslims” or infidels, “retained their land,” at least until Muslims could be recruited in sufficient numbers to replace the Jews. Meanwhile, the Arabian Jews paid a fifty-percent “tribute,” or tax, for the “protection” of the new plunderers. As Professor Lewis writes, “The Muslim victory in Khaibar marked the first contact between the Muslim state and a conquered non-Muslim people and formed the basis for later dealings of the same type.”20

But for the murder, ethnic cleansing, occupation, massacre, atrocity, destruction, and rape of the Jews of Medina by Islam, Medina would probably still be a major Jewish city today!  Instead, it is a completely Islamic city where non-Muslims by law are not even allowed to enter.

Therefore, remember, and mention the next time you hear someone opine about the splitting of Jerusalem, that if any wrong is going to be righted by a transfer of land to its supposedly “rightful” owner to ensure that Jews and Muslims can live together in peace, the world should start with returning at least one-half of Medina to the Jews.  Only thereafter should it even begins to ponder the future of Jerusalem!

…How can we sing the songs of the LORD while in a foreign land?

If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill.

May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth, if I do not remember you may my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy!…

“Moderate” P.A.: Death Penalty For Those Who Sell Land To Jews

Once again, the “moderate” P.A. issues another death threat to their people against selling land to Jews.  This isn’t the first time either, this is a long standing P.A. policy.  Notice that this Fatwa and law is against all Jews; not “Zionists”, or “Israelis”, or IDF, blah, blah, blah….nope…..it is against ALL Jews!  Where are the condemnations for such blatant Anti-semitism, and actions against harmony from the usual “peace” groups, and “civil-Rights” Organizations on this?

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/static/blogs/20080323104334.jpgThe Palestinian Authority has issued yet another warning to Palestinians against selling their homes or properties to Jews, saying those who violate the order would be accused of “high treason” – a charge that carries the death penalty.

The latest warning was issued on Wednesday by the Chief [Islamic] Judge of the Palestinian Authority, Sheikh Tayseer Rajab Tamimi, who reminded the Palestinians of an existing fatwa [religious decree] than bans them from selling property to Jews.

Sheikh Tamimi’s warning came in response to reports that Jewish businessmen from the US had purchased 20 dunams of land from Palestinians on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem.

Warning the Palestinians against engaging in “suspicious real estate deeds,” the religious leader said that according to Islamic teachings it was a “grave sin” to sell houses and lands to Jews.

He said that the ban also applies to
real estate
agents or middlemen who are involved in such transactions.

He warned that anyone who ignores the warning would be punished in accordance with Islamic teachings and would also be ostracized by his community and family.

Sheikh Tamimi also issued a ban on renting out property to Jewish individuals and organizations under the pretext that they would spread moral, political and security corruption there.

“The city of Jerusalem is the religious, political and spiritual capital of the Palestinians,” he said.  “The Jews have no rights in Jerusalem. This is an occupied city like the rest of the territories that were occupied in 1967.”

Scores of Palestinians have been murdered over the past three decades for allegedly selling their property to Jews or for acting as intermediaries in
real estate
deeds involving Jews.

Several fatwas issued by PA Islamic clerics have ruled that any Palestinian who sells his property to Jews would face the death sentence.

Fatah legislator Hatem Abdel Kader, who also serves as PA Prime Minister Salaam Fayad’s adviser on Jerusalem affairs, told The Jerusalem Post that the new-old ban was needed to thwart attempts by the new right-wing government in Israel to take control over more lands in the Arab neighborhoods of the city.

I ask you then….who exactly in this Conflict are the “racist”, “ultra-nationalists”?  Funny, (not!) how they don’t use those terms when describing the Phakestinians, or other Arabs, even when their behavior is worse!

Per Carl In Jerusalem:

“By the way, unfortunately, these threats are not a joke. Recall the case of Muhammed Abu al-Hawa (three links), who was murdered in April 2006 for selling land to Jews in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Abu Tor.  And of course that explains why when they are discovered selling land to Jews, ‘Palestinians’ will inevitably deny it (in collaboration with Israeli ‘peace groups’ of course) as was the case with Shalom House in Hebron from which the Jewish residents were ultimately expelled in December 2008.

Let’s go to the videotaped evidence of that sale.”

Ahhh….the religion of peace!  These are the guys that the U.N, and Obama are forcing Israel to surrender to.

To Honor Aqsa Parvez, Trees Planted In Jerusalem

by WrathofG-d ( 1 Comment › )

Pamela Geller posts that in addition to the Aqsa Parvez garden erected in the town of Pelham in Canada, Atlas readers have planted a grove of trees in American Independence Park in Jerusalem, Israel, through the Jewish National Fund.

There will also be a plaque to commemorate the grove of trees which will read:

In Loving Memory of

Aqsa Parvez

and

All Victims of Honor Killings Worldwide

The plaque is 4 X 4 and it will be green to indicate Atlas’ designation to the grove.  It will take about 24 months to put the plaque up.  Pamela suggested and I agree that we should all go when the plaque goes up.

It is my understanding that the plaque will go here:

AIPWall

Atlas Shrugs’ post, with additional information, can be found here.

I personally do not know enough about this story to comment about it specifically.  However, I want to personally give credit to Robert, Pamela and their readers/posters for going beyond putting mere words on their respective internet blogs and actually taking ACTION in the real world.  These two memorials for Aqsa prove that when Conservatives do more than just talk, we can get things done!  May this be just the beginning!

Arab Terrorist Attack In Jerusalem

by WrathofG-d ( 17 Comments › )

Although I am sure you hadn’t heard about it, there was a terrorist attack in Jerusalem.

For the fourth time, an Arab used a tractor to commit what he hoped would be a muderous rampage against innocent civilians.

This Terrorist, like many of those before him was an Arab resident of Jerusalem, who was married, had one child, had a job, and lived with his family in Beit Hanina, in the northeastern part of the city.

Two police officers were wounded in Jerusalem shortly after 1:00 p.m. when an Arab-driven bulldozer plowed into their vehicle. Other police officers who were patrolling nearby began firing at 26-year-old Mir’i Radeideh, as did a civilian taxi driver, “until he stopped moving,” according to one of the officers who shot him.

According to an eyewitness, the Arab rammed the police car, flipping it over twice, and then tried to push it into the bus, which was empty at the time. He was shot as he attempted to crush other vehicles with the bulldozer. An open Koran was found in the driver’s compartment, according to Jerusalem District Police Commander Nissan Shaham.

Security personnel and medical first responders from Magen David Adom emergency services rushed to the scene. Paramedics treated the mortally wounded terrorist, who was then evacuated to Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in the capital. The medics also treated both of the wounded police officers at the scene before they were evacuated to Shaare Tzedek and Hadassah Ein Kerem hospitals.

The terrorist later died of his wounds. The two police officers are listed in good condition. Four other people were treated for severe emotional trauma.

The incident occurred at a busy intersection in southern Jerusalem, where the Menachem Begin Highway meets Eliyahu Golumb Blvd., not far from Teddy Stadium and the popular Malcha Mall.

Two similar attacks using tractors or bulldozers were perpetrated by eastern Jerusalem Arabs in July 2008. In the first one, three people were murdered in their cars, while in the second one, no one was killed, though over 30 people were injured. Civilians on the scene shot and killed the terrorist in both incidents.

Commander Shaham said that a list of all bulldozer owners and licensed bulldozer drivers in the greater Jerusalem metro area has been compiled following the incident, although “this is not the kind of attack we can anticipate in order to prevent in advance.” The terrorist’s identity was not discovered until hours later.

Senior Hamas terrorist spokesman Mushir al-Masri praised the bulldozer attacker in a statement released to the media shortly after the incident. “The operation in Jerusalem was a natural response to aggression against our people. The Zionist enemy should realize that they alone bear the responsibility for displacing our people in Jerusalem and for the killings in Gaza and [Judea and Samaria].”

{Thank You:  Arutz Sheva}

Despite these continuous attacks, Israel Is Removing Checkpoints In Samaria.

Also, does anyone doubt that this would have made the front page of every major newspaper, and every news channel, if instead of an Arab resident of Jerusalem attacking Jews it was a a Jewish resident of “Palestine”…..oh, wait, those aren’t allowed to exist…Jews aren’t allowed to live in “Palestine”…um…if it were a  Jewish person who attacked Arabs?
